I give up for now. I cant get the mower blade off. Spent 20 min in the heat trying with the new wrenches I got and a hammer. Didn't budge even a hair. The blade has spun off center of its adapter by about a quarter inch so that bolt is under more pressure than usual. I dont have a clue how Ill get it off. If I could remove it I could sharpen it. Have a grinding wheel Ive used for many years. I don't want to have to try and wedge it into the open trunk of a Mustang and go down a road to find a mower shop to do it and be charged $30. Used to be $10 if you took just the blade. But if I could get it off Id do it myself. Damn. And it is DULL and nicked up. Hard to mow and it bogs down. I may have zero choice but to waste more money.

Try spraying the bolt liberally above and below the blade with WD40, and allow it some time to work into the threads. If you're dealing with rust, use a penetrant like Nut Buster or the like.

put a long length of pipe over the end of the wrench for extra leverage. an extra three feet of handle ought to take that on

Its a shallow bolt so keeping the wrench attached it harder than the moving I think. Good thing I had heavy work gloves on or at one point I would have peeled the flesh off the back of my hand.

If all else fails you can drill it out. I've had to do that before.
Had to get reverse drill bits.
Well not drill bits but a die kit in reverse.

This...have a 36” pipe that I slide over my wrench when I do this and it's almost effortless. Using just a standard length wrench, it's pretty much impossible. Could also get a breaker bar, but those cost quite a bit more.

We're locked into the Whirlpool appliance ecosystem since a BIL's cousin is an exec there. I'll just say that JennAir fridges are bad. We did sneak in a Bosch dishwasher, cleans dishes great but very disappointed in front handle which is basically a booby trap designed to rip off the front panel.

Generally I hate appliances.

I've got an LG TV upstairs that seems to be fine (but my Samsung TV downstairs is also a champ). It's the kitchen appliances that blow donkey dicks. The funny thing is, some repair people won't touch them, while others just charge more for them. Everyone repair person I talked to agreed that I never should have bought the Samsung appliances, though.

I have two Samsung TVs that are still running strong (one has to be over 10 years old now).

My Samsung washer that came with my condo when I bought it last year was a piece of crap that broke and couldn't be fixed after multiple attempts. Their customer service is so bad that when I told them I bought a new washer after they took over a month to approve a replacement and to cancel the replacement, they still tried to set up a time to deliver that replacement, and then sent me a survey asking me my thoughts!

When we were buying new appliances for the kitchen, we were advised to avoid the foreign ones. Not because they sucked (which may be true, it just wasn't brought up), but because if we did need repairs it would be a major hassle. Can't recall if it was our contractor, reviews online, or the sales person, but the gist of it was that repairs could take months because we'd likely have to wait for parts to be shipped. There may also have been a "hard to find someone locally to do the repairs" component. But as a result, we limited our selections to brands sourced closer to home.

Oh, and we were strongly advised to avoid having water or ice in the fridge door.

Not in my house...my wife is on it with the trays.

We only have them because the in-door ice maker broke. Out next fridge will not have water and ice through the door. It's just two more things to break.

Dad had one of those in the 80s. The little lid that flipped up broke. So even though it made ice it couldn't give it to you unless you opened the freezer and removed the lid then got your ice then opened it again to put the lid back. Defeated the reason to have it.

We used ice trays for decades here. I still have our 3 ice trays. My wife loved ice. I usually just use it for the dogs water to make it cold for him.

When I was a tiny child my granny had one of those metal ones with a lever on it. I never did get it to work right. I think my hands were too puny.

To be clear, we have an ice maker. Just not in the fridge door. I am way happier not having to deal with trays. And while we did have one issue so far, the problem was that the blower broke, not a problem with the ice maker itself. Though we did end up with a couple of inches of ice in the bottom of the freezer.

The stock people would be in the aisle with their little price printing sticker gun tagging everything..thunka thunka thunka thunka . At the register the lady would input each price as she looked at. I think by the late 70s or early 80s that was all a thing of the past with the bar codes and laser scanners coming in. I kinda missed it.

Theres one little discount grocery store left in town that still puts a little sticker on everything. When I shop there Im taken back to being a kid with my grandma shopping. Just now I got me a canned juice from the fridge and had to peel the little sticker off so as not to pop it into my drink when I opened it. Its a neat feeling.

As a stocker/cashier at Meijer in the late '80's/early '90's we still price labeled everything. Blue ink stamper for canned goods and paper sticker gun for everything else. It was a skill to cut open a case properly and slit it and flip it and bang prices on it in under 20 seconds.

It was just before the law changed to allow a shelf tag to be enough of a price indicator for the product.

Well that was one of the weirder things Ive had in my life. For the first time ever I under boiled my egg. It wasn't my normal well boiled egg but it was not runny at all either. It was somewhere in between. It was like..'fluffy' Like a cloud. The white and yolk were both done but not hard. It jiggled a little when held but was formed. It melted in my mouth like butter. It was amazing.
