The remains of what may be the oldest theater in London, dating to the start of Queen Elizabeth's reign in England, have been unearthed on land earmarked for a new housing development in the East End of the city.

The buried ruins are thought to be from the Red Lion playhouse, the first purpose-built theater in the English-speaking world, which was founded as London grew into a major Renaissance city. At that time, plays were the premiere form of entertainment, beloved of Queen Bess herself.

Researchers from Archaeology South-East, the commercial arm of the Institute of Archaeology at University College London (UCL) discovered buried timbers, artifacts and brick walls at the site in Whitechapel in London's East End last year.

Little is known about the Red Lion playhouse, except the rough location where it was built in about 1567, and that it was the subject of two surviving lawsuits that describe its outdoor stage and seating. The buried structures match the descriptions from the time, while other evidence supports the conclusion they are from the playhouse, said Steve White, the archaeologist who led the excavations.

I just found all my old msg board post from 2000 on Anandtechs boards. Wow ...was using a Celeron 300 at 450 mhz on a Abit BH6 mobo and a GeForce 256 with 32 meg ram..I upgraded that year to a Cel 633 at 950 mhz on a Slocket 3 with the same mobo and a golden orb cooler. I saw that thing the other day in my parts boxes!!

Oh, man! Awesome discovery!

(And a reminder that early-modern English were *incredibly* litigious. Half of what we know about property and economy in the period comes from the fact that they kept meticulous lawsuit records.)

Be wary of any emails from Paypal. I got one saying my info had been changed and I should log in and check it with my info. I hovered over the PayPal link in the email and it went to something like //recourse/classource or some shit. Needly to say I simply sent it to spam. If I had a way to report it easy I would. But not fooling with it. Thought Id let you guys know before you clicked anything.

My antique Hotmail spam account had a nice crappy "Amazon" email in it this morning. It looked maybe 80% authentic, no big wording issues... just weak. The link went off to some random site.

On an unrelated note, my boss - one of the company owners - vanished from his desk in the middle of a workday last week after having what one employee called a petit mal seizure. This same person has clearly had health issues for a while that kicked off with us finding him collapsed in his office, unaware of his surroundings, late last year. Since then he's shed a lot of weight and has retreated more into his quiet space, wanting to interact with us as little as possible.

After he vanished no one really thought much about it - until he didn't show up the next day or the next. When reached by text he said he was headed up to his camp and would be back Monday. That was last Friday... and on Monday he didn't show, nor on Tuesday. The other owners haven't heard anything from him either, seeming both annoyed and mystified at his behavior.

I get that the man wants some privacy for what must be a serious life event for him, but at the same time he's got a certain responsibility to the people he's tangled his life and finances with - nevermind the staff working for him.

Ive watched enough tv shows to be an expert here. If he has not been seen or talked to other than a text then he is dead and someone is using his stuff.

I get em at least once a month, probably more.
I don't know that I've ever had a paypal account.

I get multiple variations of that PayPal e-mail every single day. Along with at least three fake Amazon e-mails asking me to click and reset my password, check my orders, etc. Don't think I've ever actually opened one of them.

If one of these companies ever did need to contact me with a legitimate issue, I'm not sure how they'd do it, tbh.

Just get into the practice of never following links from an email. If there’s an action the email says you need to take, go type in the name of the website yourself and find the action yourself.

the company i'm currently at will randomly send you a wide variety fake phishing emails as a way of testing you. if you click the link in any of them, it gets recorded in some IT database that you fell for it. at this time, the punishment is more mandatory IT security training modules.

Finished trimming those holly like bushes in the front yesterday. Couldn't lift my arms after I was done. Then when I went to bed and rolled over on my left side i almost jumped out of bed as my left shoulder was very painful. Then when I got out of bed I actually yelped out because the right side of my lower back is pulled or out or whatever. Its super hurting. And I need to go to town. Fuck you world just fuck you. Wish I could stay home and medicate myself. But I need a candle for my upcoming wife's birthday date, dog food for the fellers, and the farmers market is only open on Thursdays for fresh tomatoes. Lastly I need to personally go by the community place to see if they have any funds to help people with power bills this summer as its like calling Walmart on the phone....they dont know anything about anything if you call.

Favorite moment was bagging the CFO on my first pass.

I used to be proud of my office and its awareness until we started getting tested. Once I saw the metrics, I was no longer proud and wonder why I send emails and present at our meetings. I was always security over convenience with compassion for what people go through. Then the metrics kinda killed that compassion. Security over convenience almost unilaterally.

My power went out. I waited 30 minutes and called. A tree had fallen on the lines down the road. Guess it decided today was its last day. Is no wind or storms. But wow it was so quiet with no power. My phone wouldn't even connect me to the web. So no way to get info. If the nuclear plant blew up and the dam burst I wouldn't know. And power would never return. The world could have ended. Thought about those in the days before power. They got along fine. But we are a part of the powered world. We'd fail and suck. About then the power popped on and scared the dog. Back to normal.

I assumed he was trying to use the phone to browse the web since his power was out and he couldn't use the computer.

Edit: Generally the first thing I do when my internet goes is reach for the phone to see if I can find out if there is an internet outage. Of course, if the power goes out I don't bother with that.

But I would probably turn to the phone for entertainment.

No I have a smartphone and unlimited stuff. I usually use it to look at the web and compare prices in some stores. Figured I would use it to check for the outage and also find the power companies number. But it wouldn't connect to anything. I know my router and wifi was out but its set to only use that when it can but still use the phone capabilities otherwise. I had to dial 411 to get the number.

It does function as a wifi hotspot itself but its is SO slow as to be unusable.

Rather enjoyed making air fryer pork chop. Got a couple pounds worth of palm-sized cuts of bone-in pork chops, marinated it with some soy sauce and jalapenos and garlic overnight in the fridge. My air-fryer is small so I had to fit the chops sideways (along the sides, rather than at the bottom) but doesn't affect the cooking. 12 minutes at 400 degrees. Came out just about perfect, not overcooked. A spritz of oil or cooking spray was enough. Can do 2-3 at a time, perfect for one guy. In retrospect, should have minced the jalapenos and garlic, rather than sliced, so I could have used less of them and got more flavor into the chops. And use less salt/soy sauce.

Next is to perfect my air fryer chicken wings and legs. Maybe I should use air fryer to reheat the ones in the fridge...

1. I thought air fryers were so small you couldn't get anything in them.
2. I thought with how they cook they'd severely dry any meats out.

Of course my only experience with anything at all sorta like one was in the 70s or 80s we had a air popper popcorn popper. It popped popcorn by using hot air blowing around. Thing got hot as hell and sounded like a jet. I never did like popcorn in it. Seemed dryer. On the plus side it melted butter in a cup on top at the same time. And I loved soaked in butter popcorn. Just not that one lol. I also missed the Jiffy Pop tinfoil skillet on the stovetop .

Just to refresh our my memories.

You don't cook anything ever - this is like the most you have ever done with providing yourself with food (on a 'cook it' level) . It's normally your elderly father that still cooks for you, because you normally don't.

Or am I thinking of someone else.

22, but we were dating at 21.

I worded it poorly as well. That realization actually only applies for me, not for her. She was 19 when we got married.
