Phew I thought for a second Meathead had died. Carl was a bit into everything over the years. I think the last I saw him in was my wife's show Hot In Cleveland years ago. RIP

An infamous one.... Mary Kay Letourneau, teacher jailed for raping student she later married, dies at 58

Mary Kay Letourneau, the former Seattle-area teacher who married a man she was convicted of raping when he was in sixth grade, has died of cancer, her lawyer said Tuesday. She was 58.

The lawyer, David Gehrke, did not provide additional details.

Letourneau gained infamy after her 1997 conviction for second-degree child rape of 12-year-old Vili Fualaau. She was a 34-year-old mother of four when the rape occurred.

Letourneau was pregnant with her former student's child at the time of her conviction

Wow, Kelly Preston has died of breast cancer. I honestly didn’t even know she was ill. Apparently she and her family kept it quiet. 57 is too young to go. I didn’t agree with her belief in a space god, but I do hope she’s at peace now.

RIP Regis Philbin

Legendary broadcaster Regis Philbin has died, according to a statement shared by his family on Saturday. He was 88 years old.
"We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday," said the statement sent to CNN Saturday. "His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him -- for his warmth, his legendary sense of humor, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about."
"We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss," the statement said.

Peter Green: Fleetwood Mac co-founder dies aged 73

Solicitors acting on behalf of his family said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep.

"A further statement will be provided in the coming days."

Green, from Bethnal Green in east London, formed Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in 1967

Indeed, in my mind he'll always be Roper from Enter the Dragon. Although he also famously played the father of the main protagonist in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Filmmaker Alan Parker, a towering figure in the UK industry, passed away this morning following a lengthy illness, the British Film Institute has confirmed. He was 76.

Two-time Oscar nominee Parker was best known for directing classic films including Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Mississippi Burning and The Commitments, as well as big-budget Madonna movie Evita. Across a glittering career, his feature films won 19 BAFTA awards, ten Golden Globes and ten Oscars between them.

Parker was a passionate supporter of the UK industry and a founding member of the Directors Guild of Great Britain. He was the founding Chairman of the UK Film Council in 2000, a position he held for five years, and prior to that he was Chairman of the BFI. He received a CBE in 1995 and a knighthood in 2002. He was also an Officier des Arts et Letters (France).

Growing up, my family was a HUGE Bugsy Malone family.

Over the years I have procured copies on VHS, dvd, YouTube, in pieces ? , and now digitally.

Turned my kids into big fans too.

It’s such a strange outlier of a production.

He went on to star in countless other movies and shows, notably on "Our House," in which he starred in over 40 episodes, as well one-off appearances in hit series like "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Seinfeld," and so many others.

Folks might remember Wilford more for commercials though over the years -- specifically, his campaigns with Quaker Oats through the '80s and '90s, and maybe even more memorable ... his classic diabetes ads for Liberty Medical -- which was often spoofed, but also beloved.

Wilford was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus in 1979, and managed the disease ever since then -- obviously, he was very open about it. The American Diabetes Association honored him for his lifetime of advocacy in 2008.

A rep for Wilford tells TMZ, one of his favorite quotes was from a sign at a blacksmith's shop. It read, "There is nothing made, sold, or done that can't be made, sold, or done cheaper. If price is your only concern, please do business with my competitor."

He's survived by his wife, Beverly, and his three children.

Wilford was 85. RIP

What a great actor. I loved his bad guy turn in The Firm and his level headed world protector role in The Thing.

He also had a hard on of blue steel that a cat couldn't scratch. So, obviously there is a lot of respect.

Actually, this is true for me as well.

Your Mother (my band) wrote a song called 1979. AFAIK it only still exists on a cassette that I can't play anymore, because when's the last time you had a functioning cassette player? We also had a song called Skylab that was huge in 1979. I can still remember some of the lyrics. IDK if it was ever recorded.
