Lame game server admins

Post by Daehawk »

Maybe its me but Ive had more experiences lately with dumbasses with the power to kick you off the server than any in the years before this.

Twice in a week some fart kid will either say soemthing smartass to me or get in my way and if I reply of retaliate I get kicked. Its becoming seriously unfunny.

First I logged into a game the other day. It was near the end of the match but I had no idea what we were working on cause I just got into the game. So Im in the wrong area when it logged me in..duuh. Some kid calls me a noob and I reply in kind. Then all I keep getting is STFU and one of his buddies laughing and supporting him to be an asshat. I finally have enough and tell him "fuck you kid". Thats when I get kicked. ARGH.

Today Im playing another game. A shooter again. Im crouched firing at a 2nd story window trying to get the enemy whos been killing my team as we round a corner. I see this guy come into my field of view..he's on my team. He does'nt have his back to me. Actually he's almost facing me. He can see Im firing yet he walks right into my fire even though he backed up once and came back. The idiot. He then proceeds to start TJK'n me every time he sees me and bitching his little whiney you shot me first whine. And again theres a fool backing him up and telling him to kick me. This other guy is even on the other team and has no idea whats going on. But hes gotta brown nose. I finally have enough of trying to argue with this ass and start TKn him. Of course Im booted.

I dont get it. Games used to be more fun. They had a better class of players in them. Now it seems the servers themselves are run by retarded spoiled high schoolers and maybe college grade people who have been raised in a barn. I dearly wish for a button that would instantly fry thier computers and shock them enough to knock them out.

I get the feeling I might as well start being like them and just rejoining and TKn till im booted and rejoin and start it again. Maybe every time I see this jerkwad in the server Ill join just to tk him and his pals.

You have my sympathy, man. This is precisely the kind of shit that stopped me playing online shooters and the more action-oriented stuff. These days it's absolutely vital to join a clan, or at the very least find a decent server with good admins and stick to it.

BF 1942 was the game the broke me.

I couldn't take the smacktards helicopter camping and actually *shooting* teammates to get one.

When people figured out to turn FF off, they started using grenades to blow people away from the spawn zone.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

I Agree 100%!! In the last few days i've been kicked from a half dozen BF2 servers by admins that are being beat, or smack talking ones that can't take it.

It is worse now, than ever before. I think parents need to collect their credit cards from the kiddies, and put the men back in charge of servers. We've had enough.

Avoid non dedicated servers.

Avoid smaller clan servers.

Don't be afraid to just leave if you get an inkling that people on this server are idiots.

Never ever go down on their niveau. Don't TK like they do. I got banned from a good BF52 server for that. I was spawning at airport, there was a plane I run for the plane, got intendedly shot. Respawned and asked the guy what he has done (maybe admin sees I write about TKing. Anyone?). Ignores me, or wasn't aware of the ingame chat function. Next plane...he shoots me again. I shoot at him, some admin sees the grey teamkillmessage THIS time and I got not only kicked, but banned...remember: TKers are the best whiners, too, and lament to the admins first.

So best is: ignore. Like an elephant ignores a mosquito. Or change side and beat the sh*t out of him. Can't change teams? Leave server, it might also have the infamous autoteam on, the little thingy that lets you change to the opposite team after you have done everything to make that team lose. Oh, I shouldn't have bombed the arri a few seconds ago...
Gaming? Nope, I'm into Bitwig.

Yes, gone are the days when you could meet asshattery head on with your own serving of asshatterishness and walk away unscathed.

My advice, don't fly off the handle when shit goes bad online. When you mess with an admin, no matter how dumb their action be, you will be kicked. If you don't know the status of the one being a dick, best to just walk away and try one of the other 1000 servers currently operating.

I used to run into this problem all the time playing Counter-Strike, people abuse their admin powers to the max. Any non-serious clan or group had abusive admins, there was nothing you could do about it except ignore them. I finally started my own server at one point for my clan (clan? guild? can't remember the term used for CS anymore even) and it was really nice, besides me there were two other admins and I basically told them, they need to act like people don't even know they are admins. If someone cusses you out, just act like you would if you didnt have the powers. We only used the powers to kick hackers and stupid kids.

There's not many servers run like mine used to, but if you find one stay there. Get to know the regulars, become one yourself. That's the best way to do it.

:) I would've thought you all would have thicker skins by now! I remember the first online game I played years ago - chess at ICC, it was a 5 minute game that I won easily, and my opponent proceeded to accuse me of everything from using a chess computer, hacking the server, killing his dog, etc. every time he and I were logged in - it turns out he was doing this randomly to a dozen people before he was banned. It had nothing to do with me.

And it still happens from time to time when I play online. I never respond. I've seen these sort of guys when I was in college: maniacally gaming online for hours and talking trash the entire time and they're generally a sad sort of loser: very brave in their anonymity.

My solution is to never respond to trash talk, not because I "don't want to sink to their level" but because they want a response and are more likely than not frustrated at being ignored. I have two 18-year-old cousins who love to insult and shoot their teammates, opponents, people who've just logged on, and they love the attention. No longer misfit weaklings, they're transformed into Mr. X and El Supremo.

I've also gamed with a few good friends scattered across the country so I can still play the more "serious" games in a social manner. That's the only reason I game online anymore. In many ways, it is disappointing that so many gamers prefer driving people away from their games instead of welcoming them.
