It better be worth the wait.....
You know the game will never be as good as we imagine it is going to be. Optimists go through life being constantly disappointed, while pessamists are always pleasantly surprised.

This is why I'm a realist; best of both worlds.

Although to be fair, being a realist and being a pessimist is pretty much the same these days.

PC minimum specs are still TBD. And that's what's important. :)

I preordered this who knows how long ago and every time they delay it, I'm glad they're not just shitting out a miserable turd and cashing in on it before rushing off to the next payday.

Given the record of this studio, I'm willing to wait.

25 minutes of gameplay footage from Cyberpunk 2077, this was provided by CD Projekt Red and is featured in the trailer that aired during Night City Wire.

I think I am going to not watch any of the videos starting now, so as not to spoil any more than the small things I've seen from the prologue already.

I've adopted that philosophy as well. I want as I play to be seeing things that make me go "oh, wow" because I've not seen them before. It is the approach I used on the last GTA game and it made for quite an experience, especially the first time I came across Trevor

Same here. I recognise the brilliance of The Witcher 3 but I couldn't really get into the setting. Cyberpunk (the genre) is much more my thing so I have high hopes for this game.

I've been staying away from serious spoilers, but did look at some of the first impressions from some of the journalists allowed to play for 5-6 hours. I'm really looking forward to this!

I should be so eager for this game. But my gaming computer has a 1060 (should be good enough but it's certainly not going to be high settings) and I won't have access to that computer until at least 2021. At that point I might just wait until the summer of 2022 which is, right now, my planned retirement date. It should be reasonably priced by the Steam summer sale!

Hmm, I have a 1060 too, 6GB unit, I guess I'll have to do some thinking.

I'd be amazed if it doesn't at least run on a 1060. Depending on the rest of your hardware you may be pleasantly surprised!

Like you I'd be amazed if it didn't run on a 1060. I'm not convinced it will run well which will be a bother when I do get to play it.

Yes, but will it have Roach? :D Can I name my car after him?

I'm honestly amazed at how well I was able to run The Witcher 3 on my aging hardware. But I think I'll be playing this one on console.

Seriously. I can believe some skepticism, but the pivot to "just buy the newest NVIDIA card" was a bit transparent.

The phrase that stood out to me was "and by that we mean you'll want at least a GeForce RTX GPU."

At least? What is currently more powerful than an RTX GPU?

I don't have an RTX card. I have a GTX 1070. My CPU and memory is older and I can't upgrade to the DDR4 because my motherboard won't support them and I just don't have it me to build another PC.

So I am hoping that good enough to enjoy the game.

When a studio is dedicated to making a game well and polishing it to a high shine before release, crunch is irrelevant. It'll be done when it's done and everyone's okay with that. Push the date back a few weeks. We won't complain.

Oh. The marketing execs complained? Well, shit. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

When you've been told repeatedly and promised multiple times and plan your life around that then probably yes. There are other things besides work. They're lucky to even get overtime pay.

You know, there's a fundamental difference between being wrong and lying, but go ahead and hate.

And there is a huge difference between a few paid six-day weeks and the 'crunch' horror stories - people working double shifts or sleeping on the floor for six months straight on a flat income. I don't think I've ever worked a job where mandatory overtime during a big event wasn't a thing.

Its in the original link....

email from studio head Adam Badowski
” The extra work would be paid, as required by Polish labor laws. Many other video game studios don’t pay for overtime.

I did quite a lot of mandatory overtime for four years before the first Space Shuttle launch. And it was unpaid since I was a salaried engineer.

Seems CD Projekt employees get paid well.
These last 6 weeks are our final sprint on a project we've all spent much of our lives on. Something we care for deeply. The majority of the team understands that push, especially in light of the fact that we've just sent the game to cert and every day brings us visibly closer to shipping a game we want to be proud of. This is one of the hardest decisions I've had to make, but everyone is well compensated for every extra hour they put in. And, like in recent years, 10% of the annual profit our company generates in 2020 will be split directly among the team.

The big thing with these "crunches" before release is that they're grinding their developers to the bone... and lots are salaried. No bonus pay, just a great big punch to the face. It came with the territory, though, and they knew to expect it. It became an increasingly common thing until it seemed like executives were just screaming "CRUNCH" all the time to get more bang for the buck and game devs were hating life. There was a small rebellion a last year that caused a ruckus.
