Re: Corona Virus: It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint
According to reports, Hope Hicks is pretty sick with a high fever and is mad at Trump as she tried wearing masks but was derided and mocked for doing so. The same reports say that Trump has a fever and cough. Trump was supposed to have a phone call at noon today, and was planning to attend even after his diagnosis as a show that all is ok, but did not and Pence attended in his place. So he is definitely pretty sick. Only time will tell.
I doubt that even if he recovers that Trump will do any further campaigning. No debates, no events. This disease really knocks you back, leaving you tired and weak afterwards, even if you don’t suffer from long term effects as some do. The campaign is done, all that’s left is the voting.

More than two million absentee ballots have been requested in Pennsylvania, and more than 70 percent of those are by Democrats. The Republican hope, said Fetterman — who’s a popular statewide politician with a reputation for speaking his mind — is that enough of those Democrats, having heard of all the chaos around absentee voting, will be convinced to scrap their plan to vote by mail and instead head to the polls in person. If they do, they’re walking right into a trap, because by Pennsylvania law, a voter who requested an absentee ballot must bring that ballot — including the envelope it was mailed in — or else they cannot vote in person.
Any voter can at that point demand a provisional ballot, but that’s a win for Republicans too, because casting a provisional vote is a time-consuming process. Election precincts will already be short-staffed due to the coronavirus, and poll workers distracted by handling provisional ballots won’t be able to keep the line moving. And that leads to hourslong voting lines, especially in Democratic strongholds. Out in the vast conservative parts of the state, voting centers rarely have lines of more than a few people.

No, I was referring to the Election Integrity Committee. Essentially this is the crap people were talking about last week. The fear is that they will "investigate" the results and then decide to give PA to Trump because mail in ballots are evil.

Somehow I do think this is a ruse, to get sympathy and votes.

After 45 minutes of "Pence...are you there?" they finally decided to end the call. The cleaning staff eventually came in and moved the Pence doll back to storage.

Re: Corona Virus: It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint
I keep hearing the "this is a ploy" theory, but I just don't see it as holding any water.
1: The idea that Trump would make up being sick goes against everything we know about him. He's "the healthiest guy in the world" - he sees any kind of disease or infirmity as a sign of weakness. The idea of him pretending to be sick on purpose is unfathomable. Especially when he's had a history of mocking any illnesses in his opponents.
2. Having Covid undermines everything he's already said about the disease. If this was a ploy, why go into the debate mocking masks and social distancing, just to turn right around and make yourself look like a fool? Again, it just doesn't add up. Undermining your entire position on Covid for the sake of "sympathy votes" seems far-fetched even for Trump.
3. Such a ploy would require an astonishing number of people in and around the President's orbit to be in on the conspiracy. While we like to think of everyone in Trump's orbit being 100% loyal lapdogs, we know that's not the case. He has aides, advisors, etc. that talk to the press all the time, and not always in glowing terms. The press isn't going to run with this story without multiple sources confirming, and all of those sources would have to be in on the joke. Since when has this White House ever proven itself capable of keeping the real truth out of the press?
4. Not that it's ever stopped Trump before, but this would be one of the worst strategies of all time. Removing yourself from the campaign a month before the election is a horrible idea. Trump's only success has been his in-person rallies, so why would he voluntarily give those up?
5. What exactly is a sympathy vote? Does anyone actually believe there are undecided voters out there who were going to vote for Biden but decided they they feel sorry for Trump so they're giving their vote to him instead?
Sorry, nothing about the "Trump is making this up" thing makes any sense whatsoever. I love it as a conspiracy theory, but like most conspiracy theories it breaks down when you actually think about it.

Larry Kudlow just said Trump has a “moderate case”, which, given this WH’s tendency to downplay everything, likely means he’s on death’s door.

99% of healthy individuals in the age group. I guess it could be right since you are selecting the most likely individuals to recover.hepcat wrote: Fri Oct 02, 2020 3:48 pm Is that last part about 99 percent of those in his age bracket recovering completely true?

CLEVELAND, Ohio – When the Cleveland Clinic agreed to be the health security adviser for the Commission on Presidential Debates, it promised rigorous practices to help ensure that the forums remained coronavirus-free.
But following the news that Republican President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and top aide Hope Hicks tested positive for the virus, a look back at Tuesday night in Cleveland shows those rules did not have to be followed by the president’s family.

This is the internet; there's no place for you here.
And yes, I agree with you that the conspiracy stuff is pretty crazy. But when POTUS lies as much as this clown does even otherwise reasonable ppl are left grasping.
I honestly think it's more that many people recognize just how important this election is and the fear of losing it is so unthinkable, that those fears have everyone jumping at shadows.
For the country's sake I hope he recovers. But I don't have one damn ounce of sympathy for him.
