And as stated earlier, I won't be surprised if Ted Cruz and the other enablers continue with their nonsense as soon as it resumes.

Well, before we get too far ahead of ourselves - I do not think that they are actually running with the idea that this was bad (not the Trump Base/Qanon crowd).... Which is who we were talking about originally... we were not talking about Ted Crud or others in the GOP.Little Raven wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:13 pmThe former is the latter. Trump has been Trump from the start, that's why a lot of us we're saying "You can't vote for him" back in 2016. He declared the election stolen, if he lost, before election day. He has incited the far right all along. Don't look to him to do the right thing now. If anything expect him to push things further. Keep in mind that Biden still has to take office, that will be another day like this one but likely worse.

Re: Election integrity and the transfer of power
The QAnon crowd is crazy. Nothing will ever sway them. But they are still a distinct minority within the Republican Party. And even discounting today - after Georgia, I think the GOP is going to have to some hard thinking about whether or not they want to continue courting that crowd. You can't run an effective political party while filling it with crazy people.Unagi wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:51 pmI do not think that they are actually running with the idea that this was bad (not the Trump Base/Qanon crowd)

What I wonder is why the police are still just "clearing" the Capitol. Why aren't they escorting the invaders into police vans?

No need to. It would needlessly enflame the crowd while offering no benefit. These people are leaving tons of evidence everywhere. They're carrying their phones, taking tons of pictures. We're not going to have any problem tracking them down later.Jaymann wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:58 pmWhat I wonder is why the police are still just "clearing" the Capitol. I'm hearing that stuff is also happening at the KS state house
Edit:
Nevermind.
Edit:
https://www.ksnt.com/capitol-bureau/pro ... tatehouse/UPDATE: According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, protesters at the Kansas Statehouse obtained a permit allowing them to protest at the capitol. There was no breach. This permit allowed protesters to not only be on the lawn, but also inside the building.
Nevermind.

Yup, I was laughing with some folks when they thought it would be over after the electoral college met. This will not be over until the last minute of Trumps presidency on Jan 20th.gameoverman wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 5:54 pm Trump has been Trump from the start, that's why a lot of us we're saying "You can't vote for him" back in 2016. The sad thing is that his advisors are not telling him he will not be president after the 20th no matter what he does. I had to explain to some knowledgeable people that the presidency is for only one term, even in the unlikely event that no election was held in Nov.

Yeah, but once the electoral college ballots are finally counted, Biden automatically becomes president on January 20th without any further action. TrumpVolk can and will cause further chaos and disruption, but it won't amount to anything.D.A.Lewis wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 6:08 pmYup, I was laughing with some folks when they thought it would be over after the electoral college met. I don't understand the point of this. The Senate will not impeach him and, even if they did, the proceedings would drag on until long after he was out of office. Why don't they just wait until he's out of power and then charge him for inciting a riot and about 200 other things? I feel certain that the DC courts will be far less sympathetic to him than the US Senate.Xmann wrote: Wed Jan 06, 2021 6:43 pmThis was my thought. Re: Election integrity and the transfer of power
The protestor's that remain are the largest assemblage of violent right-wingers in American history. The least that must be done is surround and arrest them all for trespassing. Having all their fingerprints will be a HUGE help in solving future cases of domestic terrorism.
Jesus said, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body."[Matt 10:28] God can totally destroy us.
Jesus also said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”[John 6:40] Eternal life is conditional.
His disciple John wrote, "Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life. [1 John 5:12] Eternal life is optional.
