RIP Christopher Plummer

Post by McNutt »

Dead at 91

Two of my favorite roles of his was as a Shakespeare-quoting Klingon and as a replacement for Kevin Spacey in All the Money in the World.

What a legend.

Shame. I did enjoy him as Chang in Star Trek 6 even if he spouted so much Shakespeare :P A Beautiful Mind also. And yes even Starcrash which I watched because of Caroline Munro, RIP . I used to mix him up with Max von Sydow

Oh no... that's another one what will break my mom's heart. After losing my 90-year-old grandad a year ago, she sees a lot of parallels in the old men we've lost since then that she grew up watching and listening to. Especially since my grandfather was related to the entertainment world as a radio broadcaster. I feel the same way, though obviously it hits her a lot harder.

She raised us on The Sound of Music in the 90s, and then, a fellow Toronto native, I of course kept encountering his work everywhere else as I grew up. One of the few remaining classic actors with an unmistakable voice. He'd been so prolific even throughout his 80s over the past decade that I kind of thought he'd just stick around forever.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I'll take a Klingon quoting Shakespeare over a robot quoting scripture any day.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I remember reading about him a couple of weeks ago and being surprised he was still alive.
Well, now that that has been corrected...RIP

Damn it, dbt! Stop reading about old people.

Many dont know he reprised his Chang character from Star Trek 6 in both pc games Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Star Trek Klingon Academy. I especially enjoyed him in the Klingon one.

What a giant!

I saw him as King Lear in Stratford, Ontario around 1999. We were close enough to the stage stage that some of his spittle landed on me.
Much prefer my Nazis Nuremberged.

Some friends of mine left an Iggy Pop concert early for the same reason.

Wow, just learned about this.

The movies I remember him from were Sound of Music, Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country (and the computer game Klingon's Academy, where he was in the videos) and Knives Out. Hadn't realized he was 90 in KO.
