Number 1 on my birthday was Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It through the Grapevine," and number 1 on the country charts that day was Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman."

I am therefore objectively awesome.

I'm guessing you'll find that it (like Porky's) doesn't age well.

So many of those 80s sex comedies feature assault, stalking, and casual bigotry in ways that feel very creepy today.
they felt that way back then, to me - the typical gen-Z'er watching those now would be horrified

She started as a Disney child star and grew up to be a sex symbol, making her this century's Annette Funicello.

I think it's a rule that the celebrities with the broadest appeal are generally vapid and repulsive to us outcasts and intellectuals. Evidently, they appeal to a lot of people... ask one of them and see what they say. Generational differences isn't all of it, because I think most of us will remember being confused and irritated by pop icons when we were kids, too.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Anyone have experience with those baseball cap washers? The type you put your cap in then toss in the machine? Supposed to hold their bill form. I think the bills are filled with paper board / cardboard and if you just toss them in it ruins them. I have a green army hat my wife got me years and years ago and I wear it to work outside in. It has sweat stains Id like to wash out but dont want to lose it.

Those things look like this....

Picture, schmicture. I'd find her attractive if she didn't work so hard to push the 'slutty' persona, but none of that matters. Whether she's a sex symbol or not isn't about how any of us see her (I don't find most 'sex symbols' attractive.) It's about how she's perceived at-large, and to a certain significant segment of the population, she's a sex symbol.

I doubt that device is intended for use with the older type of caps that have a bill likely constructed from cardboard instead of the more forgiving plastics of today's day and age. So if you agitate and fully immerse an older cap like that in a washing machine, you're asking for the bill to be turned into mush whether you stick it in one of those frames or not.

With an older cap like that, it'd be much safer to spot-clean it as described here (be sure to pay careful attention to the 'Tips for Cleaning Older Hats' section):

Thanks. Looking like it may stay dirty :)

In other news...FLABBERDABBER! I had three days lined up since last week to work on the brush and trees. Today through Wednesday. I got out today and cut the first tree and my polesaw got pinched in the limb and stuck when the tree decided F it its going to fall over with or without me. Bent my shaft (is this sounding dirty to anyone else yet?) and broke my polesaw. So I called Home Depot and they said bring it in for exchange. Dang place is the other side of town. Took me 25 min to get there. They tell me just go get one like and come back to the front. Of course they dont have one JUST like it. They have one exactly like it except it has a 10" bar and not a 8" bar. Same everything else and same price. (Still sounds dirty. Only adding nuts and bolts would make this worse)

So at front due to the 2" difference they wont swap with me. And they dont carry mine. So they stick me with STORE fucking CREDIT! I hate store credit. So no matter what they have my money. Would be ok but mine was on sale and I dont have the difference this month to actually go ahead and get the other one. So I have no polesaw.

So Im left with 2 options..

1. Wait on stimulus and pay the difference and get a new polesaw then. Which is at least a month or two away . I cant work outside in the heat the cold or the rain or worse health so Im limited to a short window early in the year and late in the year.

2 Or I can drag out my real chainsaw thats hard to start and run, dangerous, and VERY difficult to use thanks to two busted wrists and hands. Plus it wont reach to the tree tops I need to cut out of the wire from power to house.

The day started with such promise.

I asked the guy giving me the store credit gift card and he read it and it says in store only. So not sure they'd ship it to my store without payment for me to pay there for. Ive never heard of that.

Indeed, we're hardly talking rocket science here, Daehawk. In terms of safely cleaning a baseball cap, as that write-up observes, spot-cleaning with a simple toothbrush and just a little shampoo works remarkably well for removing sweat stains.

Looks like that article suggests exactly what I used to do back in college when I occasionally wore baseball caps: just soaking them in a bucket of soapy water for a few hours. I never got them so stained that I needed to scrub, but I can see where shampoo would be ideal (since it's kinda designed to clean sweat).

I've got a pair of wireless earbuds. Because I have to keep one ear open at work, I keep one earbud synced to my tablet for the times when I want to listen to a video or something. I have the other earbud synced to my phone for when I want to listen to an audiobook. It works well as long as I never have both out at once, but it can be jarring to suddenly hear an author in my ear when I was expecting to hear a game review or vice versa. Some day I'm going to label them.

I'd love to give it a try, but I'd need to know how it worked and sounded (to me, not others) before I'd be willing to shell out the dough. And while they'd be great for some applications (driving, for example), they'd be bad for some others (doing anything in a noisy house where the point is to not hear anything else.)
