Smells like a stunt to me. If I were the judge, I'd ask to see the rest of the room, including the other surgeon and the attending nurses etc.

No hospital or surgery center would knowingly allow a surgeon to do a remote court appearance from the OR. Not saying it's not real but it certainly risks a lot of people losing their job.

A story with a tiny bit more detail. Apparently he is a plastic surgeon and may own the surgery center in question.
