I waited about a month to get my appointment. My wife registered the same day I got my first shot a week ago. She's out getting her first shot right now.

My wife got her second shot (Moderna) yesterday.

Her first shot felt like nothing, but this time she has had pretty serious flu-like symptoms. They seem to be abating now (36 hours later), but at one point she had a fever of 102.

Meanwhile, other friends and family members have had two shots of Moderna with few side effects.

it is getting to the point where everyone i know _except_ me has at least one vaccination. even my younger brother and sister-in-law have it (due to taking advantage of a standby list in TX). demand is much, much higher here in western WA.

Feels that way to me, too. Most of my friends are retired or working part time and can spend hours a day hunting for an appointment. I'm still in a work crunch and won't have time to think about it for another week at least. Wife has tried a couple of times to register for a waiting list, but both times got disconnected after several hours. It seems to take more time, persistence, and determination than either of us have.

That's OK; I can spend a few more weeks in my bunker. I'd rather see educators and frontline workers get their shots first.

I got my first Moderna today and I was impressed! They have their system down to a science for the contact free all in the car experience, and the woman who gave me my shot was a true pro and pain free.

My wife got her second dose of Pfizer last Saturday. She has adverse reactions to almost everything, so we were prepared for a long weekend. Other than arm soreness and a "fever" of not quite 99F, the weekend went fabulously. She started not feeling great during the week, but I think that was more due to working and due to sleep deficit.

I've been waiting to get my text invite for my first dose.

Things just got weird.

My wife and I were watching TV after dinner, when my youngest child (17) comes downstairs and announces "I've just been invited to schedule my vaccine appointment". This of course triggered a weird combination of parental joy and jealousy.

Then I checked my own email, and had a message from Atlantic Health at 22:22 saying "Your Atlantic Health System Vaccine Scheduling Link is Now Available". We yelled upstairs to my other child that still lives with us (20) and he had the same email.

By 22:49 all three of us had schedule appointments for 13:45 tomorrow (Saturday) at the Morris County (NJ) Covid-19 Vaccination Center.

I don't even know which vaccine we're getting, although the questionnaire we filled out implied that it was Pfizer. Their website mentions both Pfizer and Moderna so I guess it's one of those.

I just poured myself a celebratory glass of Aberlour 16 and am sitting down in a state of befuddled relief.

I'm expecting a follow-up email from Atlantic Health saying that those invitations were sent in error and our appointments have been cancelled.

Edit: Ha, I just got a text message at 23:34 to tell me that appointments are available.

Kinda sounds like my experience. It has only been about 30 hours but I have been napping and taking tylenol. I also have needed a blanket over me while I watch TV. I had the Moderna shot. Meanwhile my wife has had fairly mild symptoms.

Fauci said the other day he thought vaccine for children would be approved by spring 2022. I've not heard of a separate timetable for early teens, but then again news on them wouldn't catch my attention.

Mission accomplished. It was Pfizer. You were correct that the site was in fact very well run, at least on the inside. This is what it was like when we were lined up outside:


The sheriffs did a good job of herding cats and sorted incoming people into the correct lines as best they could.

Inside the Sears there were volunteers and National Guard soldiers doing an excellent job of routing everyone through check-in, registration, vaccination, and observing you for 15-30 minutes afterwards. I liked it so much I'm going back again on April 19.

Oh, and as I was leaving the lady at the observation area told me "drink lots of fluids and stay away from alcohol for 24 hours".

Heh. You're going to be a pro. I hadn't heard that recommendation about alcohol, but it probably is a good idea - give your body a break as you're now trying to establish a firm up-link with the 5G satellites.

MHS and I got out second shots today (Pfizer). At T+6h29m I can say my symptoms have mimicked shot #1 (lethargy). I hope that's all I get as my first day at the new job is on Monday and I don't exactly want "flu like symptoms" to be part of my first impression.

April 11 = our first day of "fully vaccinated" status.

Update: spousal discomfort continued throughout the night, but by 10 am she was feeling much better and got on the bike to exercise. She's dancing in the kitchen right now.

That might just be an effect of Bill Gates' microchip, though.

I've grudgingly decided to accept that advice. Sad thing was that I just picked up a couple of bottles of scotch yesterday and was planning to have a wee taste of the second bottle (Talisker) tonight. I guess I'll save that for tomorrow.

One other note about my visit today; the nurse who did the injection said that she would be back in Minnesota by the time I returned for my second dose. When I told her "I had read that the vaccine rollout in Minnesota had gone really well", her response was "Yes it has! That's why I came out here".

Sometimes we get spotty 4G coverage here, so I definitely want to make sure the the microchip 5G works better.

She’s feeling nothing, but 12 hours post shot, I started feeling like a truck ran over me. Heavy flu-like symptoms. 36 hours later, still feeling like shit. Sleeping all day, achy and cold with a headache. Sucks.

I think the difference our reactions may have something to do with the fact that I had a symptomatic case of COVID back in the fall, so maybe my first shot is really more like my second.

Ready for this to pass.

Wife got an appointment for next Friday after someone tipped her off that Walgreen's "opens" at 7 a.m. She couldn't get me one because they were all gone by the time she finished filling out her own form, but she's going to try again tomorrow morning. (I can't do something that involves getting up at 6:30 for a maybe).

This morning my wife started talking to me about planning a trip to go birding at Cape May. I'm eager to go out and start doing things again but my response was "damn I just got my first shot yesterday, give me time to adjust!"

Still not eligible here in Oregon. My wife was able to get an appointment as was my 20 year old niece. I'm pretty frustrated at this point - I was an "essential worker" back in April when that meant working on-site during a pandemic but I'm at the back of the line for the vaccine. What's worse is reading about areas of the country that are seeing a surplus of vaccine - send some of that up this way, please.

Wife almost got me an appointment at a clinic we'd never heard of, but the available slots were filling faster than she could fill out the form. We *almost* got one at a time that was convenient for me, but the website didn't like the password she gave it, and by the time she satisfied it they were gone.

So close.

She's going to get up early again tomorrow and try to get one of those Walgreen's slots. It might take a few more days of trying, but I'm fairly confident she'll be able to snag me one before this week is over. That's fine. My work crunch won't ease up enough for me to keep an appointment until next week anyway.

I got my second dose last Wednesday (Pfizer). The first shot - only side effect I had was a REALLY sore arm (more so than other shots). Second time - the arm hurt less, and I had no specific symptoms but generally felt cruddy. A little chills, maybe a little fever, some fatigue. But I was fine the next day. My mom got side effects pretty badly. My dad had no problems.

Anyway - just happy to be done!

So I was given a slip of paper, advising me to sit in my car for 15 minutes afterward and turn on the flashers and honk the horn. But it took me about 30 minutes to walk home to where my car was...

The remarkable thing is that there is almost nothing within walking distance of my house, but this for-sale, normally vacant 3 story office building is one of them.

I feel Canada's been rather slow in rolling it out. Part of that is out of our control due to delayed shipments from the EU, and that's one thing, but I feel Ontario has really messed up. Ford had announced last week that phase two would be occuring province-wide, but what he neglected to mention was that there are some districts with health units like mine not using the province-wide booking system and still in phase 1, and when that announcement was made, it caused a lot of confusion and frustration for those thinking the number and website was valid for us, when in fact it was not. For the last several weeks, it's been rather rough.

Now, Ontario is a fairly large province, and I feel there are many times those of us like me in the North of the Province aren't seen and heard, and often ignored. At around the same time of that announcement, Ford pretty much came right out and said he would rather prioritize Southern Ontario. He didn't even try to hide it. . Meanwhile, we're in a grey zone, with outbreaks left and right, in schools, our hospital, in nursing/retirement homes, and with less access to readily available vaccine, and somehow we're not any worse off than any other regions according to him. Yet in a time where we're all experiencing hardship, in the entire province, and when everyone knows vaccination anywhere is going to help the province as a whole, he prefers to prioritize. It's a sickening display of negligence.

Fortunately, that was more than a week ago, and we've now moved on to phase 2 with the rest of the Province, and My Dad has managed to get his two appointments, one of them being in less than a week.
