Re: Random randomness
2021 sucks.
I woke up this morning to the phone call with the vet because they needed authorization from the owner to put my 18 year old cat to sleep. She was living with my MIL and my son while we are around the world which explains the awkward timing. I don't know if watching that over Facetime is better or worse than simply knowing that it occurred.
Yesterday morning I woke up looking for a message from my mom about my dad's colonoscopy that had occurred overnight my time. Not normally a big deal but they were doing it because he seems to be losing red blood cells fairly rapidly and they were worried about internal bleeding. They didn't find any but he's been in and out of the hospital over the last two months with kidney issues and now this anaemia.
Finally I get to hear second hand from my brother that my mom is now reconsidering her cancer treatment because she doesn't want to be on heavy duty chemotherapy while my dad is having his health problems. Note that one of my dad's big worries about being in and out of the hospital is that he can't care for mom as well as he'd like.
If you made it this far thank you for letting me vent. All of this is just the normal passing of time but the timing is not great.

Ouch, that's a lot to deal with. Your parents sound like they really love each other. Hang in there, and vent any time you need to vent.

I never considered that baby might grow up to be a real person. My brain I guess just assumed it was more of a generic baby, and not a real person.

Funny thing is no one would even know who it was if he didnt come forward initially for the publicity.Jaymon wrote: Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:30 am I never considered that baby might grow up to be a real person. My brain I guess just assumed it was more of a generic baby, and not a real person.
I guess when it didnt become the cash cow he imagined it would be, this is the result.

His name comes up every so often, usually when the album hits a milestone anniversary. I guess he finally found a lawyer willing to take up his cause in the hopes of making some easy money from a settlement.
He was interviewed by Time magazine back in 2016, when Nevermind turned 25.

i get what he's doing - i have a real problem with the financial and other exploitation of people under the age of consent (and do not get me started on ''parent vlogs' who feel compelled to document their children's lives on common video upload sites...) but i feel the 'child pornography' angle is not being done in good faith. the band would be appalled.Sudy wrote: Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:32 am I'm thinking he should be suing his parents, but they probably don't have any money so....
But, he added, women he dated would dump him when they found out he wasn’t making any money off it.
i don't think you can make this lawsuit about your highly questionable taste in women

Re: Random randomness
It was an extraordinarily bad joke, which I shall now explain in extensive detail, so its no longer funny. Chilis is famous for Baby Back Ribs. Which, if you are going to make jokes about eating a baby, I thought calling it Baby back Ribs would be funnier than making the connection between a baby and a fish and calling it a filet at Denny's. But also, I slept poorly and had way too much coffee today, and spent 4 hours writing technical documentation before writing that joke. So its entirely possible that my sense of humor concerning infant canabalism may be off the mark.

Re: Random randomness
I don't understand Facebook posts like, "Who can honestly say they've never had a DUI? I'll wait." (Only worse grammar.) Why? Why are you waiting? Have most people had a DUI? Is this everyone's chance to feel good about themselves for something they should never have done in the first place? Why not, "Who can honestly say they've never murdered a hobo for sport?" Or, "Who can honestly say they've never killed the last remaining member of an endangered species or defaced a UNESCO World Heritage Site?" What the actual hell....

I wouldn't have guess that PEI would rank with the worst of US states. I might well have guessed that the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut would make the US look like teetotalers.

Re: Random randomness
Had to mercy-kill another squirrel today.
My MIL said she saw a dead squirrel in the front yard while she was getting the mail. I was distracted, but about 30 mins later I went out to get it.
It was on its back and covered with flies (there was a significant open wound), but when I picked it up it felt still warm, and it gave a weak squeak.
I couldn't imagine it recovering from its damage, so I took a shovel and put it out of its pain.
The church bells down the block were playing "Amazing Grace."

When you read "gorilaw.com," you were curious. You opened a new browser tab just so you could check it out. You were disappointed to learn that "Gori Law" was not a law firm run by Donkey Kong.
