Email alerts not consistently firing
I've noticed today that I'm not getting most of the email notices for replied threads that I should be. A search for the oo domain in my email doesn't show anything having been caught as spam today, either.

Am I the only one? Zero emails since 8/19. Dozens that should have fired.

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
I only have email notifications active for one thread. I do appear to be getting those appropriately. As well as notifications when a response of mine is quoted.

Likewise. I subscribe to alerts for exactly two threads, and I seem to be getting them.

Do you get other OO emails? I'll PM you to trigger one...

Nothing at all from OO, including the account reactivation email (which means it's not a setting on my OO account, since that one is not optional). That said, I did check my OO settings to verify that email notification is still enabled.
Also have verified both in Hey and Gmail that the domain is allowed and not going to Spam or some other label. They simply aren't coming through to me, to either address.

ISP? Is OO getting auto-bounced?

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
I just subscribed to this topic to make sure I'm getting them, by the way - I didn't receive one when Zaxxon replied to my PM a few minutes ago.

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
Er, um... yeah. I knew that. Somewhere in my brain I was wondering if Gmail itself was blocking it, and my fingers translated that as 'ISP.' But it's unlikely that two different services would (I'm unfamiliar with Hey.)
In any case, I did subscribe to this topic, and I did not receive an email when you posted that. It seems likely that it is something OO-side.

It sure sounds like Zax found the hidden 'stealth mode' of OO....

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
Not sure if that fixed it, but apparently the system transient hostname matched a virtual alias which I saw as an error in the mail logs -- I'm not convinced that fixed the problem but it did fix *A* problem. Let me know if still not getting emails.
No.

No change for me. Still zero emails from octopusoverlords.com since the 19th.

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
Should be fixed now.. part of the problem with running on Centos 8 is that red hat made this their test bed and stream significant changes without a lot of warning, in this case there was a significant change in postfix (mail server). My tests are successful, are you getting emails now?
No.

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
This thread has made me feel like I'm doing something wrong by refreshing the forum every five minutes checking for replies.
I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Re: Email alerts not consistently firing
I subscribe to only two threads, both of which are things I'd want to personally respond to (or at least be informed of.) For the rest I just check unread posts like anyone else, subforum by subforum (I can't stand the 'all new posts' feature - too disorganized.)
