Re: Hi guys! Now with 100% more exploding taint!
So. I have (had) a cyst that was about the size of a silver dollar sitting on my taint towards my balls. That exploded today when I was at work, soaking the middle of my underwear with what looked like menstrual blood. Then I went outside to try to take a nap during lunchtime. Locked my fucking keys in my goddamn car. I thought I was covered by Geico for roadside assistance, as I was told I was. I was not.
Now I'm going to have to drop the two face fuckin gecko and take my business elsewhere, as I won't deal with the kind of scum that verbally tells me one thing then rolls up the umbrella when I need it. This may or may not be more expensive. Prolly will be. So I am out 80 bux and had my taint explode. And to top it all off I need new car insurance.

The cyst will heal. The money lost is gone forever. Also Im pretty sure how I got it. Cat landed off balance on my bed and caught my taint with the tip of a rear claw. Completely accidentally. This happened a while ago when it was warmer before I got my room AC. I figured it would reabsorb before it burst. I was wrong. I would have gone to the hospital but they seem to have a hell of a lot of COVID lately and I didn't want to take that risk.Carpet_pissr wrote: Sun Oct 03, 2021 11:04 pm I’m disturbed that you seem more concerned by the potential car insurance shenanigans than the ‘sploded cyst.

Not really. I just didn't want to go to the hospital. I figured that since the skin infection was not *really* painful and although large did not feel hot or tender to the touch I would be fine. I was wrong.malchior wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 12:30 am Cyst? Untreated infection? Who knows. Leaving it to chance seems safe.

I share the strategy of avoiding medical care whenever possible. The more one goes to doctors, the more likely one is to die. Avoid places where sick people go.

Based on the state of ER these days. taking a chance on self healing does seem a safer bet.
Its one thing to vax and mask and hope for the best. its another thing to sit in a room with a dozen people who for fucking sure have covid.

Self healing for something like that has a fair risk of infection. And if it gets to infection, you will be spending days in the hospital, nevermind a few hours in the ER. I'd err on the side of cautionary and go to urgent care or a PCP. If it were just fluid, ok, that's one thing. But this was bloody mess.Jaymon wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 1:32 pm Based on the state of ER these days. taking a chance on self healing does seem a safer bet.

The urgent care I've gone to recently refuses to let people in who have Covid symptoms so people with other issues can be seen without much worry of Covid exposure.LawBeefaroni wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:55 pmSelf healing for something like that has a fair risk of infection. IAANAD but cat's claws are dirty AF. So dirty that they even have their own special disease named after them. I'm pretty confident that if I was scratched by a cat and said scratch led to some type of fluid-filled sack growing anywhere on my body (including my undercarriage), I'd be going to a doctor. I mean, it's great there's no redness and you're not feverish but that's still not right.
Also, when you get the ICD-10 code for that, can you share it? Thanks.

I can also second that cat's claws are filthy, filthy hotbeds of disease and bacteria (well, outdoor, or outdoor/indoor cats like ours). While our beloved feline is ABSURDLY, almost comically clean (she ALWAYS smells nice, like she just got out of a dryer, and has never looked externally dirty a day in her life)...I have seen her kill a LOT of stuff whose blood and guts and bits and pieces you don't want anywhere near your taint.

Indeed, the intensely infectious nature of feline bites and scratches is reminiscent of how we previously believed Komodo Dragons worked. The Wiki entry for Cat-Scratch Disease pretty much spells out the tale of Drazzil's tainted taint:Smoove_B wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 4:24 pm IAANAD but cat's claws are dirty AF. A vesicle = "A small fluid-filled bladder, sac, cyst, or vacuole within the body."wikipedia.org wrote:Cat-scratch disease (CSD) or felinosis is an infectious disease that most often results from a scratch or bite of a cat. Symptoms typically include a non-painful bump or blister at the site of injury and painful and swollen lymph nodes. People may feel tired, have a headache, or a fever. Symptoms typically begin within 3–14 days following infection.
Cat-scratch disease is caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae which is believed to be spread by the cat's saliva.

Signs and symptoms
Cat-scratch disease commonly presents as tender, swollen lymph nodes near the site of the inoculating bite or scratch or on the neck, and is usually limited to one side. This condition is referred to as regional lymphadenopathy and occurs 1–3 weeks after inoculation. Lymphadenopathy most commonly occurs in the axilla, arms, neck, or jaw, but may also occur near the groin or around the ear. A vesicle or an erythematous papule may form at the site of initial infection.

Be glad the infection didn’t turn septic or blister. I had a leg infection last year that I initially thought was COVID-19. By the time I got the negative test and visited a clinic, it was bad enough to put me in hospital for 5 days. I was on penicillin for over 3 weeks, and developed an allergy. My leg still has marks, and it will be years, if it returns to normal coloration.
Skipping medical treatment is a bad option.

Last time I was in the Philippines, I got a scrape on my ankle while going out back to water the banana plant at my in-laws house (yes, it a euphemism). 2 days later, it appeared my body was melting into my right foot...it turned into a formless blob. I went to the hospital (what an adventure!), was advised to get admitted and put on an antibiotic IV and bargained that down to a fistfull of magic beans. When a week passed and the situation hadn't changed, I was referred to another doc (who was also a lawyer so he could fight his own malpractice claims I guess)...he changed up my antibiotic cocktail and 3 days later I was able to put my shoes on again. 4 days later I ran a half-marathon in Cebu City.Zarathud wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:46 pm Be glad the infection didn’t turn septic or blister. Its already 80 percent better then yesterday. I had a great day today. My manager called me "a person of high quality" And three days now my register has been on the buttion, which is nice. Apparently I'm quite good at this register thing. Its always good to discover things you're good at, especially when I thought I'd be shit at it. Within 2 dollars yesterday. 7-11 where I am seems to be a high traffic area, and I deal with hundreds daily, so not a small feat.disarm wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:13 pm Cat scratch abscess of the perineum could be serious business. Bad news tho. I locked my keys in my car *again*. This time they slipped outta my pocket. It wasent an unmitigated CF this time tho. I was able to go back to my apt and get a second key and take a bus roundtrip. Lose about 2 1/2 hours but I'm ok. I get to see the senic route.
