Favorite MAME games?

Post by kathode »

Not sure if this is the right forum or not...

But I was wondering if people could tell me what their favorite MAME games are. I just recently got into this when I had an urge to play Raiden again, and have only begun to realize the variety of stuff that's out there for MAME. I grabbed ESP Rade which is incredible and a few other shmups - 19XX, Change Air Blade, Dangun Feveron, Batsugun, and Darius Gaiden. Not just interested in shmups though.

Got any faves?

I had a lot of fun going through the D&D beat-em-ups, Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara, online with Kaillera.

HELL YEAH. I loved those D&D games.

But for me, it's either The Simpsons, TMNT, or X-Men.

favorite ARCADE games, you mean?

hard to pick favorites from the older ones, but Joust is one of the all-time best.

for newer games - i'm really into the super-frenetic Japanese shooters, like Mars Matrix.

(i also have to say that Elevator Action II is a surprisingly good modern sequel to the original - it's like a funner Rolling Thunder with more stuff to do)

The games I play the most often on my MAME Cabinet:

Gyruss
Ms. Pac Man
Tempest
Robotron
Marble Madness
Satan's Hollow
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

And lately I've been playing a lot of Gain Ground and Crackdown.

Orph, what was the name of that robot beat 'em up we played? Where you could destroy other robots, and then take parts from them and add them onto yourself. Treads, rockets, guns, swords, all that stuff. That was a fun one.

I really dug the AvP beat 'em up too.
End of line.

Metal Slug's my favorite, followed up by the Darkstalker and Mavel vs Capcom beat 'em ups.

I love the old Capcom and Konami side scrollers... (ie. X-Men, The Simpsons, TMNT, D&D, Aliens vs Predator etc...) Those are all awesome!
