Do they tolerate single points of failure in other aspects of their business?
Amen to that. That's a hard one to get to sink in until it's too late.

The company always has an alternative. They can hire consultants to do your job.

They will try to get you to do it as long as it’s more convenient and less expensive. You can control the expense, and profit for your valuable time.

I watched a Bob Saget comedy routine today on Amazon. No disrespect for the man but he is not even close to being funny.
And I never watched Full House either.

Got some celery last month to put in my southern cornbread dressing. I hate celery so other than the 4 stalks I cut up for the dressing i had no use for the rest. Like 4 more stalks all still on the pod. I kept it a week trying to think of how to use it and finally tossed it about a week ago.

I could still see it from my kitchen window so went out back to see if rabbits or something had at least tried it or if the animals hate it as much as me. It looked a bit ate but what was cool was that it has flowered and grown some simple roots into the ground. I just let it stay to see what it does new. Probably forge an axe and beat down my door and assault my fridge.

What a remarkable coincidence... there was actually a cat shelter nearby that had to shut down because a train rolled into the building.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I was watching some videos on my local malls from Christmas 1985. Before the internet or our states largest mall being built right here.

They mentioned that pics with Santa are $2.50. I looked up local prices for recent years and its about $35.00 now.

For uncounted years Ive gone to YouTube when I want to hear some music on my PC. On the tablet I use iHeartRadio. But with YT I can find stuff I miss or haven't heard in 40 years. That nice. But Ive found myself loading up Radio Garden on PC. I think Im drawn back to the random radio style from my younger years.

Ive posted Radio Garden on OO before to those not in the know RG is a online radio site for the world. The interface is a little like using Google Earth..you spin the globe and can zoom in and out to see more radio stations. Every green dot on the globe is a radio station. Just click one to hear it. Each one also shows other stations in that same city and such in a box on the left.

Its very clear and HD for the most part but you can still find old sounding stations and AM sounding ones at times.

Heres a link. I left it on a Austrian pop or modern or some kinda station that part old stuff part new stuff.

Had to call an ambulance this morning. Wife hasn't been able to eat or drink anything in 5 days. This morning I found her lying on the floor. Must have tried getting up in the middle of the night but was too weak to stand. She's conscious I guess but can't communicate.
I was surprised the ambulance made it up the mountain. There were four of them and they had a hard time getting her on the gurney.
When she gets to the hospital I hope they put her in front of the line ahead of those damned non-vaxers with covid.

Having a site like Deals that checks prices on multiple sites for a game or for sales is damn handy. Now I need one for regular household items.

Did you ever start watching this? It is streaming on Hulu and it is really, really good. Smartly written and very funny. Last night we watched the episode where they had to re-shoot a commercial after the company's LGBTQ+ support was questioned. So good.

I mentioned in the EV thread a while back that I recently purchased a new car. It had been 17 years, so I dumped the 2004 Audi A6 for a fancy new 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge back in November.

And it made it into February before getting hit in a parking lot! Guy went to back out of his spot, put his SUV in drive, and pushed the car in front of him across the lane and into my car. There's cosmetic damage to the rear passenger panel and the bumper, plus one of the sensors back there is all messed up. It's drivable, and to this guy's credit he stayed around until both of us innocents were there (we were both in the grocery store when it happened) to trade insurance info (and he even let me record him narrating what happened). I submitted the claim directly to his insurance and I'm cautiously optimistic it'll get taken care of without too much additional trouble. But, c'mon man! (Of course, the Audi got hit within 2 months of me buying it new in 2004 as well, so I guess I should stop buying new cars every 17 years.)

How fast was he planning on backing out? I would think you'd have to stomp on the accelerator pretty hard, and for quite a while, to push another car all the way across the lane.

I don't know, but his front license plate (yes, we have those in Illinois) was imprinted onto the bumper of the other car.

Maybe the license plate imprint was a factor in that decision.

A couple months ago a woman ran off the road into our yard. She drove about 20 feet and knocked the gas main down. When my wife went out to see what happened, the woman flipped my wife off and left tread marks across our lawn as she sped away. All the while her 10 year old or so daughter was sitting in the front seat looking at my wife. What a great lesson to teach your young daughter.

Luckily, the gas company fixed it for free since the police had filed a report for us.
