Yeah, I know the automated ones are easy. I was just thinking it would be a good time to pick up the skill of actually taking it.

This. I even think I have the same brand. Internet suggest I have an Omron 3 that costs about $35.

I use option #2 myself (I take my BP 3x daily, every day, because reasons). My concern with option #3 would be that if it requires skill and I self-trained rather than received instruction, I wouldn't be confident that I was getting accurate and consistent readings.

I checked out the Omron monitors. Geeze, the reviews on all of the models are packed with people reporting that they show 10-20 points too high.

More digging, combined with experience at Amazon, make my think that people at Amazon are being sold counterfeits. Apparently counterfeit blood pressure monitors are a big issue.

Had to get a full new license plate today. They are dark blue. Looks like a town full of cops or Gov cars now.

Mine has the most amazing coincidence. Our old plate was 3 numbers then a space and 3 letters. The last 3 were XX_ with our last name initial. Wife always said it was kiss kiss name. This one is even cooler. I was looking at it as I was leaving the court house and suddenly I see see the neatness of it.

The new ones are 3 numbers then a space and 4 letters. The 3 numbers are my wife's birthdate. Month/day/first number of the year . Then the 4 letters are first initials for my nickname, her nickname, the name of our little dog I still have and the initial of our first little dog that lived almost 19 years and was our little 3rd amigo so long. Damn cool coincidence! I love it!

I may have lucked out by getting a LAZLE, which is top rated by this site at least. I checked the box and the company is in Wyoming. Of course the fine print says assembled in China, which they call PRC.

I decided not to chance Amazon. It's too unreliable for anything with a counterfeit market. I checked around. Wal-Mart doesn't sell them online, and they were out of stock at every store within 100 miles. I looked some more, and they had an Omron in stock at the local CVS. Higher price than Amazon, but you aren't getting a fake. I walked down and they were out of that model. And the next step up. I had to get a model that cost about twice what the cheap model cost, but there really wasn't anywhere else to look.

This looks like mine. Mine doesn't say Joytech at the top but on the little sticker on the back. Got it a year ago at Amazon for $26. Seems to work fine. Took it yesterday and today at the doc it was near the same.

Went to the grocery store this morning. I thought I was in some store in the Ukraine there were so many shelves empty. I managed to find some biscuits this morning. They had a 6 left. First time in two months I've been able to get any. And they were expensive.
Yesterday was refill day at the store.

I think I need to get drunk and watch Drunken Master with Jackie Chan. Not the 1994 Legend of Drunken Master which was good but the original dubbed 1978 version. I love old English dubbed kung fu movies. The action is too intense to try and read a translation of it while its going on. I grew up on dubs.

Looks like Chattanooga is hosting a con in May. Gaming, Cosplay, Scifi ......buncha stuff. Ive never heard of it before. Looks like Vic Mignogna of Star Trek Continues is part of it or was last year.

Seems the theme this year is 'Revenge of the 80's'

Anyways a heads up for those close by who might be interested in this con.

I might be interested since it's only about 2 hours away. Their website gives precious little info though. Board games? Computer games? Vendor booths? RPGs? What's there to do besides look at cosplays and listen to artists I know nothing about?
More information is definitely needed before I go.

If you haven't seen ST Continues, it's worth your time. Vic really channels the Shat, and Doohan's son plays Scotty. They only did 6 episodes, I think, all sequels to original series ST episodes with some guest stars you might recognize.

Ever get the feeling that the world really DOES revolve around you? You hear talk of the world being a simulation or that Jim Carey movie The Truman Show. Well what if it was true? All my life I never gave stuff like that any thought. Layers and possibilities.Maybe nothing is real but me. Or maybe even I aint real :). But perhaps everything is just made to appear as it should be around you and everywhere you go.

And no I haven't drank too much cough medicine.

I dont think  :ninja:

You're close to the truth. This isn't the world, though, it's Hell. And not just any hell -- it's hepcat's personal Hell and the rest of us are just stuck here to bear witness to his endless torment every time Mark Wahlberg cashes another fat Hollywood cheque, with his only hope of salvation being the Sisyphean task of documenting a complete list of all the things that Jeff V hates.

I tried heating up pre-made cinnamon rolls with my air fryer. Works great, except I didn't recognize the icing in a separate pouch (remember, first time ever) and I ended up dropping that entire gooey mess white mess in the air fryer, where it melted into nothing, of course. THEN I realized there's another part of the "roll" I need to unpack. :D So I ended up eating my cinnamon rolls without ANY icing. :)

Poor Mr Fed! :D

Shop: okay you mad but we absolutely promise it’s ready to go Monday at 1

Me: drops off rental, Ubers to shop

Shop: okay when we said “promise” and “Monday” and “ready”……

They are putting me in a pickup, I assume for lulz

The good: body shop is paying for the rental and drive me there. The bad: the only rental left was a pickup the size of a fuckin Jawa Sandcrawler. The ugly: the parking brake release on a Jawa Sandcrawler is inobvious, as I discovered in midafternoon Sunset traffic.

The truck is as vast as my rage. It has RAM on the side and a big number, in a manner and font I believe is not intended to be camp. It is the most desperately, needily performatively masculine thing I have every been in, excepting Dallas.

Waze needs a “yeah I’m unexpectedly driving a fuckin Jawa Sandcrawler here so if you could not sent me on these little hobbit-hutong side streets or ask me to cross Los Feliz without a light that would be swell.”

On the 134 my mood eases as an unfamiliar feeling washes over me—the feeling that if I were so inclined I could just drive right over anyone and anything in my path. They would be too far down for me to hear the screams.

Pulled up at daughter’s school. She emerged with a group of friends. I waved from like 15 feet up. Slowly she pulled up the hood on her hoodie and slumped her shoulders.

I got what he was saying. But he wasn't doing a very good job of communicating. He thought that the other guy's complaint was having to spend $80 at one time. In that light, he was correct. He was basically suggesting that filling in 1/4 increments would spread the cost out. However, it was pretty clear that the other guy's complaint was that filling a full tank would cost $80. He didn't care that it was at one time. Just about the total. So, really, it was just a complete failure to comprehend on Shaq's part. And then, of course, doubling down on his argument. :D

Oh definitely. Even if the gas station is on the way. You are spending more time getting gas. And, assuming they value their time, that's an additional expense.

It really all boils down to Shaq missing the point. The guy didn't want a gas guzzler. I'm assuming that the cost of filling isn't really the main issue. I mean, I would hope that those guys all make enough money to afford the gas.

Also I've read if you let your tank get close to empty more sediments will muck up your engine. The opposite of (at least what used to be) extending battery life by letting your laptop drain down to nada.

It's not so much that they muck up your engine as the muck up your fuel line/intake/filter, and then cause stress on down the line with an unaccounted for choke on your fuel/air mixture.
