Laurel Goodwin Dies: Elvis Presley Co-Star, Last Surviving Cast Member Of ‘Star Trek’ Pilot, Was 79

Laurel Goodwin, an actor who made her movie debut at age 19 opposite Elvis Presley in the 1962 feature Girls! Girls! Girls! and four years later played a crew member in the original, failed Star Trek pilot starring Jeffery Hunter, died February 25. She was 79.

She played Yeoman J.M. Colt in “The Cage,” the unaired 1965 pilot for Star Trek that starred Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike.

The last surviving credited cast member of “The Cage” — it feels like an era has ended. Rest in peace.

Emilio Delgado, who spent more than 40 years entertaining generations of children playing the Fix-It Shop owner Luis on "Sesame Street," has died, according to his manager.

He was 81.

The actor died Thursday at his home in New York City. He had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, in 2020, according to a report from TMZ, citing his wife.

On top of his professional acting career, Delgado was on the board of directors for the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, a community center in New Jersey for LGBTQ youth.

One of his last performances was in The Last Full Measure, which is a great movie, in which he co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda, Christopher Plummer, Ed Harris and Sebastian Stan. And at least 2 of those older actors would have this movie be their last performances.

71 is pretty young these days, though. I was surprised to hear it.

Researchers at Berkeley have unveiled a new cancer chemotherapy treatment that allows patients to avoid traditional side effects such as nausea and hair loss.

Among those at a press conference Tuesday hosted by the Berkeley Institute and the biotech group Alin Foundation was Academy Award-winning actor and cancer survivor William Hurt.

“It’s a moment you only know when it happens to you,” said Hurt, who was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer that spread to the bone.

He's always been one of my favorites. I think the first movie where I really took notice was Children of a Lesser God. I became a fan from then on. And The Big Chill is one of my favorite movies.

Definitely an actor I respected and enjoyed throughout my entire life. He’s been a part of so many great films. He also has that distinctive voice I would recognize anywhere.

I was thinking about rewatching Cronenberg’s A History of Violence recently. This news seals the deal and I’ll probably do so this week.

RIP to one of the greats.

He came to my attention when we saw Altered States and Wife kept saying "that guy looks just like you." I didn't really think so, but forever after William Hurt was "that actor who looks like me." There is a definite resemblance in this picture:

Oh, shit. That sucks...I had all the respect in the world for her. Read her books -- she definitely had a nice sense of humor you don't often see in politicians of her level.

For Secretary of State, it's got to be especially hard for a woman (and I respect Hillary immensely for this) because so many nations exclude women from participating in politics, and yet they had to deal with her all the same.

My mother-in-law lives with us and was a classmate of Albright's at Wellesley. They weren't close, but they corresponded a few times over the years. MIL was affected by the news of her death.

This one really sucks...way too young to lose such an amazing performer and vibrant personality. They've been touring in South America and were supposed to play in Colombia tonight. I don't think he was into drugs, so I can't imagine what happened.

I thought he had a heroin overdose but that was years ago. No idea if he was still using.

Not really a Foo Fighters fan, more of a Dave Grohl fan because he seems like the coolest guy in music. But if you saw Dave, you saw Taylor. I imagine Dave and the rest of the band is devastated.

Shocking and terrible news. 50 is way too young. Damn.

He had a side band started last year with Jane's Addiction musicians' Dave Navarro and Chris Cheney.
I've been looking around Instagram - NHC - nothing has been posted yet but people are leaving comments on a great picture of Taylor & Dave Navarro.
I am also listening to Grohl's autobiography The Storyteller but only on chapter 3.

Loss of Taylor Hawkins is terrible. Such a talent. I love the Foo Fighters, and I always had so much respect for TH playing drums in what everyone knew was Dave Grohl’s band. Talk about fearless. . .

This is awful. Its one of those deaths you see listed and say that cant be right. As said if you saw Dave you saw Taylor. Both of them would be laughing and cutting up. Taylor was always smiling.

Theres a video on line of them playing Everlong on their last show with him. He seemed to be having a blast.

I recall the times he let a fan or fellow drummer play a little at a show. He seemed to love it.

I always had so much respect for TH playing drums in what everyone knew was Dave Grohl’s band

Yeah can you imagine coming in for that audition? He was a really great singer too.

I actually didnt realize he was old as 50.
