Re: Random randomness
Do you have reason to believe you both ate the same thing? I'd be more inclined to think you have Norovirus just based on the fact that you're both sick. I mean, unless you both ate some really sketchy food at the same time.
Upper GI symptoms are typically actual food "poisoning" and would tend to happen rather quickly after eating. Like drinking too much liquor, your stomach picks up on the potential for trouble and reverses course, usually within a few hours of eating, but it could be as fast as 30 minutes.
Lower GI symptoms are foodborne infections - the bacteria take longer grow and infect your cells and/or brew toxins that are released into your gut. This would more likely be a ~12+ hour difference between eating and illness. Might even be days in some cases (or months if it's Hepatitis). Rarely it's the last thing you at that made you sick.
But going to back to my guess, Norovirus is the best of both worlds - coming out both ends and in a way that can only be described as "violent". The virus is also airborne so if you're sharing space with someone that is suffering, just being in the same room (or domicile) can put you at risk. Out of respect, I won't share the study that was done at a cheerleader competition that involved a vomit plume.
So...uh...yeah. Potentially jockeying for the bathroom sounds less than ideal.

Did you read the article? The car drove away because that's what the car is programmed to do - drive to somewhere it's safer for it to be stopped.
According to Cruise, the car behaved as expected. In a tweet, the company clarified that the car was not fleeing the police but ‘pulling over to the nearest safer location for the traffic stop’.
While a human driver could get into trouble with the cops for doing something like that, it’s hard to penalise a car with no driver.
Cruise said that it was working closely with the San Francisco Police Department on how to interact with its vehicles in situations like this.
‘Chiming in with more details,’ the company added on Twitter. ‘Our AV yielded to the police vehicle, then pulled over to the nearest safe location for the traffic stop, as intended. An officer contacted Cruise personnel and no citation was issued.’

Interesting science fact: this particular term originates from an amusement attraction in New Jersey's Action Park.

I suspect it's Norovirus. I'm getting over it now (my last bout of anything distressful was Tuesday night), but I was worried about getting reinfected since he's now sick with it. WebMD though tells me I should be safe from reinfection for a little while. Is that true?Smoove_B wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 10:32 am

We had a double-line brown and all-white Corelle. Pretty sure that is still what the parents have.

I've accumulated at least 3 different mismatched Corelle patterns over the years, none of which appear in that picture.

We didn't have Corelle growing up. My parents got stoneware as a wedding gift and we used it until I was in high school. I don't know how it survived that long but by the end my sister got to take a couple of place settings that were left off after college.

I get Chinese spam all the time. Apparently I really need to go to the embassy. I don't remember the exact message. I had a coworker translate for me a few years ago and I am still getting those calls (voicemails because unknown numbers go directly to jail, I mean voicemail).
Also, to clear up any confusion. I am about as chinese as ummmm.... Opie from The Andy Griffith Show (people used to say I looked like Ron Howard -- haha I have more hair than him now!)

I never answer the phone so most calls have ceased. They figure its a bad number and remove me from their list after a year or so.

We grew up with #5.
We also have three of the all-white ones, as well as a couple of similar plates with a reddish-brown single line and flowers.
We don't really have a complete "set" of any dishes. I guess most of what we own were "borrowed" from parents, college, or somewhere like that.

Is there no such thing as a NON telescoping metal back scratcher? Had plastic and they break. I dont trust the wooden ones due to the same worry. But all the metal ones seem to telescope. That would be totally useless as they'd just fold back up all the time.
used to have a wife for this . May have to go the wood route.

That's for applying pressure to your muscles to loosen the fascia and reduce aches. It's the same theory as a professional sports massage or foam rollers - it doesn't feel great, but the pressure releases some of the tension in the muscle.Max Peck wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 7:40 pm I prefer my back scratchers to be absurdly over-engineered.

I've never owned a back scratcher. That's what wall corners are for. But if I were going to get one, it would probably be one of the bamboo models. If you break a bamboo back scratcher, you've pressed hard enough to gouge off your flesh.

Yep, rulers. You beat me to it. Back scratchers are right up there with paperweights and letter openers on the necessity scale.
I got one of those back pressure canes many years ago to relieve a trigger point. Health insurance paid $150 to a medical supply place for it because it's engineered to survive a nuclear blast. It did help to temporarily relieve my trigger point pain, although ultimately I needed physical therapy to cure it.

Seems my local pizza guy was... cheating a little on the delivery status.
Domino's has the pizza tracker where they show the status of EVERYTHING, from when your pizza went into the oven to how far the delivery guy is from you. This guy was supposedly 2 minutes away, then he waited there for 2 minutes, then somehow, I got a "he's pulling up now!" I opened door and peeked, nobody. I went back to my order tracker, and my order was marked DELIVERED. I waited two more minutes, was about to lodge a complaint, then the status updated again to "he's pulling up right now!" And in 60 seconds, I did get my pizza. But I should have just walked out and gotten food in Chinatown. 1 medium speciality pizza, which I wolfed down about half, with 3 x 20oz soda, plus tip and delivery charge, came out to be $31. That's EXPENSIVE.

The bamboo ones don't break. Just don't get the fancy ones with little roller wheels. Those fall off.

What probably happened is that he was delivering another pizza nearby and initially tagged the wrong one in his app.
Also, pizza delivery drivers are high by definition. Give him a break.

You'd think the app would be smart enough to not let him "deliver" the wrong one that's not next to where he is physically... But it's definitely possible. It's just that this had never happened before. No, I did not lodge the complaint.
