I've seen a few Flip Wilson cuts on my YouTube feed recently. Man he was funny! Usually, the clips are of him as Geraldine. I don't think those episodes would be allowed to air today. Shame. So funny.Daehawk wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 8:04 pm I was just thinking of the great comedians I grew up on in the 70s that you never hear of now days. People like Nipsey Russel , Rich Little , Flip Wilson , Redd Foxx , Andy Kaufman.
These were guys I grew up on in my young childhood. Either they had their own tv shows or were guests many many times on other's shows.
EDIT: For an offbeat comment I will say I loved Monster Squad in the 70s! .... I used to get it and Mod Squad mixed up..but it was Monster Squad I enjoyed.

I just about wore out the groove on "The Devil Made Me Buy This Dress." Flip Wilson was hilarious in his day, when I was a kid.

Not that it necessarily means anything to you in the Mitten State, but I was in Costco earlier this week and they had plenty of Folger's coffee stacked floor to ceiling. Also, product availability on Costco.com does not correlate at all with the products available at your local warehouse. So, if you want to find out for certain whether or not your local warehouse will still be carrying Folger's coffee, I'd suggest contacting them directly by phone.LordMortis wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 7:24 am Izzie, I need you! I can't find out if Costco quit carrying Folger's coffee. This figures directly in to whether I renew my membership in July. The best I can find is "out of stock" when it comes to looking at their online warehouse.

I may need to do that in July. They had none on Tuesday. It's hard to know if it's supply chain or if it's a change. Remind me, do they check membership cards on entry? And aren't the alcohol and food court available to non-members? If so, you can always go browse.

Re: Random randomness
As far as I know they check on entry but alcohol, food court, and optical are available to non members. I'm not going to make the commute to browse. I just know currently there is a lot of coffee but no Folgers (my brand bought at Costco rates) and Folger's coffee figures in to the worthiness of paying $70 a year to be member. If it goes away, that's about about $30 a year in savings compared to typical sales at Meijer/Kroger etc... in coffee that contributes to me making the commute and maintaining a membership.
I'm a cheapass. Being cheap has always figured into my shopping habits, especially my grocery shopping habits. My $40 a year coffee (or whatever coffee inflates to) ritual will need be re-evalutated if I can't get my 51 oz tub of Folgers for $6.49 on sale or $9.49 retail (which is still better than sale prices anywhere else except Sam's Club which is also a membership service and one I don't have)

Re: Random randomness
From what I understand, if you’d like to see what a Costco store has to offer, you are free to enter and walk around and look as a non-member. Membership is required to buy most goods, with a few exceptions like alcohol and the Food Court. Even though they have 'greeters' who seemingly are there to encourage you to show your membership card as you first enter the store, I've never been specifically asked for my membership card while entering. So, I very much doubt they'd turn away non-members that just want to browse.

Ive had two of the little fellers get run over in front of my house. Ive checked for babies before burial. They were both male. We had a whole litter of them invade the house one summer before my wife's death. We'd be asleep and hear a noise only for me to find a juvenile in my bedroom garbage can lol.

They like to winter in my attic. The landlady knows, but it's been years, and no attempt has been made to close the gaping hole that the raccoons mad in the edge of the roof. No water gets in, but when the opossums start fighting, it sound like we live under a rave.

Apparently there was a lone opossum who lived in our area before we moved here. It did a great job of keeping the area clear of rats. One of the neighborhood dogs ate it, though.

Re: Random randomness
Field & Stream
According to Dr. Bret Collier, associate professor of wildlife ecology at Louisiana State University’s School of Renewable Natural Resources, “No, not at all, period. Ticks are not, in any manner, selected for by Virginia opossums.” He cites a 2021 peer-reviewed paper called “Are Virginia opossums really ecological traps for ticks? Groundtruthing laboratory operations,” by Dr. Cecilia Hennessy and Kaitlyn Hild of Eureka College’s Division of Science and Mathematics.
The assertions related to the tick-destroying powers of opossums mostly trace back to an August 2009 published study in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B journal, called “Hosts as ecological traps for the vector of Lyme disease.”
In that study, researchers in New York placed six captured species of small mammals and birds (white-footed mice, chipmunks, gray squirrels, opossums, catbirds, and veeries) into cages and then “inoculated” them on their heads and necks with 100 larval ticks. For the next four days—the amount of time deemed sufficient in the study for a tick to gorge and drop off a host—researchers counted the number of ticks that fell from the cages into a collection pan. Any ticks not accounted for directly were assumed to have been consumed or destroyed as the animals groomed themselves.
Squirrels and the half-dozen opossums in the study seemed to rid themselves of the most ticks, allegedly killing 83 to 96.5 percent of the ticks, with the opossums on the higher end of the scale. From these numbers, people extrapolated that opossums can eat up to 5,500 ticks each season, making them an “ecological trap” for ticks and a “net reducer” of the parasites.
According to Collier, the 2009 study looked at captive opossums, while Hennessy and Hild’s later work focused on wild ones. “[Hennessy and Hild’s] paper reviewed all the science—23 papers in all—on opossum foraging, stomach contents, and scat,” says Collier.
In the 2021 study, Hennessy and Hild used a dissecting microscope to look for ticks or tick body parts in the stomachs of 32 Virginia opossums from central Illinois. They found absolutely no evidence of ticks and concluded that ticks are not a preferred diet item for opossums.

Chickens OtOH love them. My parents had zero tick problems when they had free range chickens. I encourage them to get chickens again, but they don't want to the bother (and I don't blame them) but now they have a rather large bother with ticks.

I believe coconut is an element on the periodic table. I think Co?
On a more serious note, I’m now up to 5 times in the last 2 years and some change when it comes to turning on the water in the kitchen sink to fill up something, walking away to do something else/getting distracted and walking away, forgetting about it, then noticing water starting to flow into the living room.
This is getting ridiculous.

Usually I’m filling up the sink before washing dishes (I’m primitive, no dishwasher) or I’ve got a bucket blocking the drain.
I just need to NOT leave the kitchen when I’m doing anything with the sink. I’m just way too forgetful.

A&H green cap laundry detergent used to be sensitive skin perfume free. The shade of the green cap sometimes changed but you could easily identify the product without having to read the print specificity. Some marketing and design genius decided to now have two different green capped A&H "sensitive skin" detergents. One is now "plant scented" which defeats the whole point of sensitive skin you bastards and you had to go and make it "sensitive skin" and perfumed and green capped. Fuckers. Fuckers. Fuckers.

What a weird ‘scent’
I mean, does it smell like a tomato plant , a corn plant, sage, grass, dandelion, marijuana, sweet autumn, oak tree, or pine?
A scent is either animal, plant, or mineral.
I’m curious now for them to make an ‘animal scented’ detergent

Smells like perfume to me. Which both is ucky and something I avoid. I don't see it on their website and I don't feel like going to the basement. Also on their website, now "fresh scent" for sensitive skin is "hypoallergenic fragrance" and looks like the old dye free perfume free bottle. The dye free fragrance free is now in a white bottle.

I'm just saying most scents are plant-based, so it's weird to hear 'plant scented'.
It's like saying there are food-based toppings available at Little Ceasars.
(aside: maybe I missed that it didn't literally say "plant scented", and I'm goofing over something A&H hasn't done)

Last year I paid a lot of money..well to me...to have my car window motor and stuff replaced. The old one worked strong but it came off the track or the way its held by the motor. Anyways my mechanic replaced it all but as soon as I picked it up I noticed it seemed slow and didn't want to roll up all the way or easy. I told him and he said just spray it with silicone spray. I did and it helped a little. But now It wont roll up the last inch without me pulling it up. Also something is rattling in my door like a screw. And well now the new silicone spray straw is in there too someplace grrrr.
What do I do? Just harass him until he will look at it? Take it some place else that will definitely charge me? Do it myself?

Re: Random randomness
Theres a fake but teachable story that goes around Facebook about how not to mess with old people that goes something like....
An old woman goes to the bank and asks the teller if she can withdraw $10. The teller says she has to use to the ATM and points over there.
The old lady has never used one and just wants $10. Again the teller says she cant help her.
So the old lady says ok then Id like to close my account and have all my money given to me.
the teller says ok and checks the old lady's account and sees she has $1,000,000. Mame! she says. You dont want to withdraw all of this do you.
The old lady says yes.
So the teller gives her her money. The old lady then asks if she can make a deposit in a new account. Of course says the teller!
So the old lady writes a check for $999,990 and ask for a her change.
Never mess with an old person.....thats the story...I like it even though its bullshit .
