I think LB accidentally locked the Viral Economy Thread in R&P
No text... Or maybe someone did it intentionally but I tend to believe we're all getting senile. I'm projecting...

Perhaps admin/mod accounts shouldn't be daily driver accounts.

I still see it as locked.

Re: I think LB accidentally locked the Viral Economy Thread in R&P
I'm not a fan of this approach for a couple of reasons. Practically, I think it will have little impact. Issues like this are pretty rare and are easy to fix. Issues like the one Lorini had are even more rare, and there's no telling that it would have resolved things anyway. We would also miss the alerts and notifications that pop up for us with respect to alerts and reported posts.
From a less practical standpoint, I think there's value to both mods and the community to have us posting from our staff accounts. For mods and admins, it can be a subtle reminder that we need to model the type of posting behavior we want to encourage. Even when posting casually, we should try to be aware that our names are in color for a reason. For the community, I hope that our presence and posting behavior from staff accounts helps to reinforce the standards of the community.
Bottom line, I think the benefits from the dual account approach are minimal and don't necessarily outweigh the disadvantages.

I need an account each for when I'm high, sober, and making deadpan inside jokes that confuse and alienate people because only I understand them.
I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Amen.
OTOH, you could be mistaking confusion and alienation for people thinking your inside joke wasn’t funny. :p
I think the reaction/non-reaction would look very similar.

How would they know? They could never truly know!
This is why I laugh at everything anyone ever says. For some reason this has the same confusion/alienation effect.

I created an alt years ago for that kind of thing. I guess I can finally reveal that it's "hepcat". It just seemed better than posting that crap as $iljanus. Sometimes I do forget which alt I'm logged in as though.

I think LB just locked the "Whatcha drinking" thread. He might have started the experimentation with the old fashioneds early

So the thread just *happens* to get locked right after someone posts about a patriot-fueled app to prevent voter fraud. How convenient. #MAGA2024 #StopTheSteal

Re: I think LB accidentally locked the Viral Economy Thread in R&P
For a peak behind the curtain, there's a check box for locking the thread in the options section (under disable bbcode, disable smilies, etc). When I go to post on the phone, for a split second while the page is loading, this check box is in the spot where the posting area is. If I tap where the post area will be before it actually pops on screen (which after so many posts is just habit), I hit the checkbox area and possibly check/uncheck a random box. Usually I notice but sometimes....
Fortunately there are no permanent actions there and any permanent action requires a confirmation.
Appreciate the heads up.
