We collect bacon grease in a jar and keep it under the sink. It's not for eating/cooking - I'm just being a homeowner who wants to protect his plumbing.

I have some water...Like I can wash dishes or laundry or take a shower..just have to push the breaker in before then remove after...pump cant get to pressure so wont shut off. I think it ran all night before I caught that..maybe longer. Plumber says its ok to do it the way I mentioned though.....unltil I can get the pipes cleared out. They are not fully blocked but partial.

mental bah....Ive been prescribed brain meds before. I refuse to take them. Thats all Id need is suicidal thoughts for a month of more while the meds build up.

Ill get by as I always do and handle what i can handle myself. My bp has been pretty good sans medicine for over a week now. Gonna post it in getting old or medical copmplaints thread.

Life of a salesman, Scene 1:

FLASHBACK: Skinypupy sits at his desk back in June, communicating with a client who always plans their training events years in advance.

Client: I want to schedule a training on October 1, 2023
Me: We can do that. Are you sure you want 2023 and not 2022?
Client: Yes, I want October 1, 2023.
Me: Got it, I'll get it scheduled

PRESENT DAY: Skinypupy's office, this morning

Client: Hey, can you send me the info for our session on October 1, 2022?
Me: Do you mean 2023? (attaches the e-mail where she confirmed) I don't have anyone available on Oct 1, 2022.
Client: Well, you should have known I meant 2022. I can't believe what terrible customer service you're providing right now!
Me: (sigh) All right, let me see what I can do

(cut to montage of Skinypupy spending 3 hours rearranging multiple people's schedules to make someone available for Client)

Me: OK, I now have someone available on October 1, 2022.
Client: Oh, never mind. I changed my mind, we don't need them any more.

(Skinypupy flips table, walks out, fade to black)

Have you ever seen Road House? You need to live more like Dalton.

This morning as I am pulling out of my alley (suburban alley, not what you Chicago folks are thinking of), a middle schooler on an electric scooter bike/thingie and my car had a bit of an impact. I know he was a middle schooler because he was on his way to the same school I was driving my lazy kid to. I was shocked and really didn't know what do. He was on his feet by the time I got out of the car. I helped him pick up the things he dropped in the fall (water bottle). He said at least a dozen times that he was ok, not to worry, forget about it. All I could think as to point at my house and say "I live in that house, you parents can come find me if they need anything." We live on the corner and we were standing next to y fence, so it was easy to point out. A bit later, I texted my wife and she said, "Did you get his name?" Huh, yeah exchanging names might have been useful. Oops.

Anyway, follow up items, I really need to talk to my neighbor across the alley about getting rid of the damn shrub he has at the corner of the alley and the road that makes it impossible for both cars (he dives a huge pickup and his wife an SUV so they can see over it mostly) and pedestrians to see anything before it is too late.

My bumper got a bit of a scrape, but I don't really care. It's hard to notice through all the dirt.

Anyway, yeah that happened today. How's your day going?

My wife always continues to surprise me. Today is the first day of September and although my birthday is on the 28th, about a decade ago I started mentioning about how we should be celebrating the entire month, sort of like Advent all in one calendar month . For the first few years all I got was some eye-rolling but she started to get into the spirit of things. In the past couple of years I got a little gift on the first of the month, but today she outdid herself. Those who may follow this thread know I am a collector of flamingos, be they statues, stuffed animals and the like, but this is something special:
Spoiler:
Image
As you can see, this is a flamingo, about a foot tall and has a special neck band with the words "Flamingo Hilton". For those who don't know their Las Vegas history, The Flamingo Hotel & Casino was opened in 1946 by no less of a luminary (or desperado) than Bugsy Siegel. It became The Fabulous Flamingo a year later and operated under that name for many years. In 1972 the property was bought by the Hilton Corporation and was renamed the Flamingo Hilton. In 1998 the property was resold and is now known as the Flamingo Las Vegas.

The significance of my new flamingo is that is was manufactured in 1992 and according to our researches, was sold at the Flamingo Hilton gift shop. So not only is it a very nice gift, but a bit of history as well :D

This for me. If I turn ad blocker off, it shows. When I turn it back on it disappears. I'm OK with not seeing. Ads and tracking have become too intrusive. I'll turn off for news sites that request it, if I want to read news from that site. Aside from that stuff remains the land of <plonk>.

Yeah, I can't see it either, it only shows up if the link is inside URL tags (and I don't remember why it sometimes does an Amazon product blurb/image and sometimes it's just a link).

So I bought a can of cherry pie filling at the store a couple weeks back. Theres a round sticker on the lid that says best by July 2022. But they missed covering the printed lid date and it says July 2019.

Anyone think its bad?

I seriously SERIOUSLY dont know how Steve1989 is still alive. Ive wondered how many times he has been food poisoned.

It's probably fine. If the can isn't bulging, canned stuff can last well beyong the "best by" date. "Best by" is not an expiration date anyway, it's just a manufacturer's estimate of when it might not taste as good.

No, you expose it to radiation and wait for it to gain sentience. After it does, you teach it science, literature, philosophy and ethics. I HATE what COVID has done to fast food online menus. After hours you cannot get the menu to show stuff unless you go through the "Order and pickup or delivery" crap first. Some you cant get to work no matter what.

Just now i cant get Subways menu to work and its F'n open. Wants me to pick a location and then order online..I t wont work!! F it. If a place has a menu like that I refuse to visit them.
