The story of Carmen, which this is a retelling of, is traditionally taking place in Seville, Spain.

I’m not sure if that’s exactly the case in this retelling of the classic story.

That being said, this was filmed in Australia.

I read the book it's based on, and it was quite good, but also quite a sad story. Kind of the inverse of Benjamin Button. He has a real rare condition related to Alzheimer's that leaves his brain in a jumble unable to remember words and phrases, and in general express himself over time.
