Looks good. The campaign updates sound very similar to Rule the Waves which is more or less what I wanted to be added to the game. If the timeline goes up to the 50s does it ever model air power?

No, there isn't air power nor are there submarines. And the campaign game isn't intended to be historic but rather a way to generate surface battles which you can play out at the tactical scale.Madmarcus wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 7:37 am Looks good. I'd never heard of generating smoke. That was a real thing, I assume? Interesting.
Also, I thought it was going really well until they sank your ... er... destroyer.

Thanks for the AARs! I loved Ultimate General, so I'll probably pick this up at some point.

Yes, real thing. Destroyers were equipped with smoke generators to hinder and if possible block line of sight from enemy ships.TheMix wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 10:24 am I'd never heard of generating smoke. That was a real thing, I assume? Interesting..

Re: Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts now available in Early Access
I'm not sure how much I care about history. RtW really isn't all that historical either. A decent way to generate tactical battles and show their affect on the bigger picture is really all I want. On the other hand I don't know how I feel about knowing that airpower would never appear and everything would simply be a constant improvement in surface ship combat.jztemple2 wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 9:51 am No, there isn't air power nor are there submarines. I'd love to hear more about how a campaign plays out.

Re: Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts now available in Early Access
Major Update v1.09 has been released. And we are talking major, although that's an army rank . There are so many big changes that I suggest to those interested (Bueller? Bueller?) that they go check out the main article. However, I will list some of the new items:
- Full Global Map: The map is expanded in its maximum size scale and it includes the whole world. You will be able to travel with your fleets everywhere and now the strategic importance of Task Forces and other new technologies become a necessity
- All Major Nations added: All 10x major Nations become available to play.
- Submarines & ASW: The technology tree is enriched with the submarines which you can fully use in the campaign map. ASW new techs will help in the countermeasures against submarines. Fleets with no ASW and light ship escorts will be very vulnerable against submarines. The submarines will only be playable on the campaign map and will execute autoresolved missions against convoys and enemy fleets. Special mine submarines could sink enemies with their mines without engaging them.
- Mines: The technology tree includes a full set of mines and minefield options which can be used in the campaign map. DD and CL will have the ability to deploy mines with special components around the ports. Fleets will be able to clean them up faster if they have DD or TB with dedicated minesweeping equipment. Ports that are protected by mines can heavily damage enemies that attempt to close in for Port Strike missions.
- New “Recon” rating for ships: The *Recon* rating represents the reconnaissance capability of the ship, its ability to report enemy movements without being detected, and greatly improves the strategic power of the fleet to gain initiative on offensive missions or get away from trouble before the enemy comes too close. “Recon” is affected mainly by the respective technology as well as spotting, detectability and speed attributes of the ship.
- Various strategic technologies: Technologies that speed up the crew training, raise the maximum training level without combat, enhance the power projection/invade/protect capabilities or even reinforce transports with more armament (and torpedoes). All in all, the technology aspects have been rebalanced and enriched so that they matter significantly and require careful planning on which one to focus on.

Can people trade ship designs? For example, if one person had recreated all the ships from the Japanese fleet at Tsushima and you wanted them?

Interesting question. As far as I know, it isn't possible now, but I'll post the suggestion on Discord.em2nought wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 4:40 am Can people trade ship designs? For example, if one person had recreated all the ships from the Japanese fleet at Tsushima and you wanted them?

With the new 1.1 update (more about this later) designs can now be saved and shared.em2nought wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 4:40 am Can people trade ship designs? For example, if one person had recreated all the ships from the Japanese fleet at Tsushima and you wanted them?

It would be interesting to cut all the ranges in half or more so that all the action could occur on the same screen. Making it sort of like what's great with WWI dogfights on PC vs just about every other thing on pc except racing.

Re: Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts now available in Early Access
And with a couple of hotfixes after the major update, the devs have announced that the game has exited early access and is now in full release.
Dear Admirals and supporters of our unique game project,
We are happy to announce that Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts has finished its Early Access journey and today is fully released on Steam! Since 10 December 2021 when the game entered Steam Early Access, there has been an enormous addition of new gameplay features, campaign content and 3D models.
Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts is now a complete game in its main content, and provides you the chance to design 3D warships of the technological era between 1890 and 1940 with an extreme detail to realistic aspects of ship design. We have tried to offer all the necessary details for providing a realistic and immersive experience not only when you design the ships but also when you control them on the sea.
The campaign is offering a detailed map with all the major provinces and colonies of the historical time and provides a full “sandbox” game environment. Every time you play a campaign you will face different strategic situations, alliances, battle outcomes, all contributing to a challenging and addictive gameplay experience.
The game is still in active development, which means we are going to continue enhancing the game with new content and provide necessary fixes according to the feedback we receive from players. We thank everyone who supports us and hope that you will enjoy Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts for many decades!

I was reading the reviews of this game and there were a lot of negative reviews complaining about how buggy this thing is. Any comments?

I haven't seen any bugs and of course there was just a big update which had fixes.dbt1949 wrote: Wed Jan 25, 2023 6:43 pm I was reading the reviews of this game and there were a lot of negative reviews complaining about how buggy this thing is. Any comments?
Right now I'm torn between this game and Command Modern Operations as one to put time into. I've tried the campaign in Dreadnoughts before but it wasn't ready for prime time. Maybe it is ready now

Maybe this will provide more clarity, it was posted by the devs today:dbt1949 wrote: Wed Jan 25, 2023 6:43 pm I was reading the reviews of this game and there were a lot of negative reviews complaining about how buggy this thing is. Any comments?
Hello everyone,
Yesterday we have fully released Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts and apparently we have to offer some clarifications to pacify players who think we will no longer support the game.
Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts has exited Steam Early Access but it does not mean it is getting abandoned. It is NOT the final release and we plan to add many enhancements on the game until Summer. Players would have been absolutely right if the game had breaking bugs such as not loading, crashing all the time, having less content than promised in our Early Access notes etc.
On the contrary, the game is having a fully playable campaign, 10 major nations, a complete set of strategic features, and we do not have to remention the replayability of the Custom Battle system and the Naval Academy. The game now can be provided to a larger number of players who wish to enjoy, arguably, a good naval game. Yes, there are some issues. We are actually solving everything that is left and is considered a bug or an inconsistency, but surely we will not be able to please everyone, as it happens with all games.
In the following days you will get from us a complete road map with the remaining features we plan to add on the game plus a set of known issues that need fixing. Features include new weather and graphical environments, UI polish, improvements on the spotting system and many new ship models. We will also create a special thread where you can help us list what is mostly bothering you, so we can try to fix it.
Thank you for reading,
The Game-Labs Team

Re: Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts
Don't know how many folks are interested or still interested in this game, but I thought I'd mention this post by the devs, noting that with the newly released 1.7 update there will be no more major updates to the game. The game is also currently on sale.
I might finally have a go at the campaign now!

Major Update v1.7 "The last one"
Hello admirals,
This is the last major update of Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts offering new hulls, new guns and parts, and many game optimizations. You are definitely going to enjoy it.
However you need to know the following:
- Old campaign saves and all ship saves will become unavailable. if you DO NOT want to start a new game on the new major update and lose any previous saved designs of the older game version then you can switch to the previous stable version: v1.6.1.5 Optx4 as shown here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1069660/ ... 692197802/
- The shared designs will have issues with tonnage or will have different models of guns, which will make the designs invalid. It is up to you to repair them manually or delete them. It is advised to NOT USE them for the campaign until you are sure they are functional. You can select the campaign setting to not use shared designs. Please DO NOT report bugs, if you know that you use old shared designs.
