That may be the first time I’ve ever come across “Final Frontier” and “made sense” in the same sentence.

Not all of Final Frontier was bad. Just 87%.

I just meant it makes sense Sybok was a family secret. It wouldn't make sense that Michael was. Unless Discovery ends with her being erased from time or something lol.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Such Sweet Sorrow, pt. 2 has your answers. Due to the events with the Red Angel, Control and Section 31, Spock suggested they wipe all records of her and the Discovery to prevent it all from happening again. I mean, if you’re gonna keep a secret, who better than a Vulcan. Hell, Kirk didn’t even know Sarek was Spock’s pop until he was on the Enterprise standing in front of him.

I was just thinking, I wish Picard's time as Kamin in The Inner Light was regarded as having as big an effect on his life as being Borg was. It's a shame it wasn't viewed as a healing process.

Well, I'm sure it was, but they could only fit so much into the season. Would have been cool for him to have been sent back there though.

The USS Protostar is about to shut its lights down, as Paramount+ has canceled Star Trek: Prodigy after a single season of adventures. The animated series focused on a crew of young aliens that returned to Earth five years after the events of Star Trek: Voyager, when they found the ship that would eventually take them into the stories that would define the rest of their lives. According to Deadline, the previously announced second season will complete their post-production and be shopped to a new home, as the creators seek to give the crew of the Protostar a way to continue their adventures.

Hopefully, they'll tie up any plot lines/loose ends in the second season (not sure there were many). The show was better than I thought it was (I originally thought it was supposed to be an education show and not a narrative show). That said, IMO it's the weakest of the new series, and I'm OK with it ending.

I read of this on another site. I presume the article above also mentions that the show's also going to be pulled from Paramount+. I'm really getting sick of this "remove even first-party content from streaming services as a tax write-off and/or to keep from having to pay residuals" trend and I hope it eventually stops. But money, so it won't. But as long as I can stream these shows on other servicers who pick them up and/or "shady" streaming sites as a last resort, whatever. I'm not going back to buying physical media. But I don't want to get involved in formal downloading of pirated content either.

Yeah, I mean some people want to just catch up and now they can't when they tend to do that. Thing about Star Trek though, given that it's a fairly expensive IP, I don't see that getting a home elsewhere. Kind of a depressing time to be in. Your show fails, and it's no longer enough to just have it cancelled, but it's wiped off the service as if it never existed.

In general it is but would an animated show be as expensive?

Right, but out of any type of show you can make animation has to be the cheapest. You can have the craziest scene possible and it shouldn't cost any more than any other scene.

From a technical standpoint maybe, but you've still got a full crew behind it, not to mention the expense of the IP and marketing, and then it's still got to find its niche. I mean, look at it this way, if they're removing it to recoup costs, it must be expensive enough.

Yeah, but the fact that they are even doing that means it's been too costly to just let it sit there. A tax writeoff ends up the only way they can get something out of it. I suspect that is now going to be the new normal whenever something gets cancelled on a streaming service.

Rumours, and I'm not even a huge fan of those characters, but that kinda sucks. Soji meeting NuData would actually have been nice.

I wonder who the other proposed cameos might have been.

Oh, rumours that all of Star Trek is leaving Crave in Canada, which is a big deal as Bell has owned the exclusive rights for decades from when CTV Sci-Fi was known as the Space channel. Many think it might land on P+, but if so, it's strange timing given everything else currently happening with P+. Might have something to do with the fact that Discovery, which was shot in Canada, is no longer in production.

Classic Trek is still on Netflix here, also. I don't personally care if it leaves Crave as long as I can find it. I've subbed to Paramount a couple times both through their frontend and Prime. Easier to do through Prime, though their UI leaves something to be desired.

It started off referring to Discovery, but it became a catchall for all the new star trek shows being developed.
