Is there any indication that he’s close enough to death where it would matter for our particular context here? Sheesh.
If he were stumbling around, slurring his speech, using a wheelchair, or obviously wheezing, etc etc ok (as I write that it comes to me that it sounds a lot like I’m describing Biden more than Trump).
Absent overt signs of rapidly failing health, is the hope that he’s going to just keel over any day?![]()

Looks like Mark Meadows sang, and the grand jury will likely be asked to vote to indict Trump on charges of obstruction of justice and Espionage Act violations as early as tomorrow.

I've seen it said that he would probably be sent to a protective custody facility and the duties of the SS would be transferred to those personnel.LawBeefaroni wrote: Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:49 pmHe'll never be perp walked. Trump is about to turn 77. The US actuarial tables put that age group of males at a 4.9% chance of death per year.

Trump has been told that he is a target in the classified document probe:
https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/07/politics ... index.html
It's happening. As noted in a post above, the fact that Meadows faces charges and has agreed to testify against him is bad news.

Do you really think he cares about them only carrying out orders that they have received? As we all should know by now, Trump is vindictiveness personified. He'll want the heads of anyone associated with his prosecution, regardless of how/why they were involved.LawBeefaroni wrote: Tue May 30, 2023 2:43 pm He watches too much TV. Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
Trump declared his opinion that a president should be above the law.
"I never thought that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States (who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country"
OMG how I love his discomfort.
I love Trump's final line:

No permission needed from me. I don't presume to know which this is going to go. I'm glad they indicted but concerned about the inevitable chaos. I personally cant wait to know which charges.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
Crimes have to be charged where they are committed. The ones he was just charged with must have occurred in FL.Unagi wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:15 pmCan you fill in the picture on this?
Why there? (did they have to?)
Why not elsewhere? (did they have to?)
But it seems likely they were also committed in DC.

I hear that it was done to make Trump's argument about an 'unfriendly jury' to be something he will not say, and speaks to the strength of their case.

Re: The Trump Investigation(s) Thread
Why Miami? That's likely where the crimes occurred. Ive read some arguments that classified documents cases typically belong in DC.
They might have calculated Trump probably would have tied this shit up for a year just to move it to Florida so this might short-cut some of the Trump abuse of the institutional rot. We will see.

What may be something we may see here, and it's amazing - - this could lead to them accusing a former President of sharing these types of documents with a foreign entity.
Can you imagine if that is revealed?

Honestly, I am putting a large amount of my optimistic faith in the concept that no one would do this without some serious shit behind it. I really don't want to hear that "Most presidents would release this stuff within a year but this president took longer and that's not cool." I don't get the feeling that is what this is about.Alefroth wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:23 pmI have to put my faith in the hope that prosecutors will be able to weed out any MAGA or qidiots.Unagi wrote: Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:19 pmI hear that it was done to make Trump's argument about an 'unfriendly jury' to be something he will not say, and speaks to the strength of their case.

I need to believe no one would make this move unless they had him dead to rights. Like irrefutable evidence demonstrating whatever series of crimes he committed and those crimes need to be serious enough to warrant making American history.
