I've got too many weapons ! I keep getting rid of the really cheap stuff but then I either find or someone gives me a better weapon than the ones I currently have. And even with the extra 100kg I can now carry I keep hitting the limit. I must sit down and really figure out which to keep.
Meanwhile, it's so sad looking when pirates dance:

Thanks for explaining. It would never have clicked for me. I like that they included the blue oven mitt.
Now the important question. Can you scrape it up?

I've got it down to only twelve weapons . I've probably only used half of them, but you never know...
By the way, it's a dumb move (as I found out) to remove all weapons and ammo from a companion, as I ended up in a fight and Sarah was trying to punch out a dozen Ecliptic soldiers . I've now fitted her out with three weapons to cover various situations.

Isn't she invulnerable? I know I've accudently hit her multiple times and once did a save and attacked her on purpose. The worst it ever did was to knock her down.
As for weapons, another way to help minimize them is to remove any that use the same ammo and just keep the best. Unless you happen to have a long range and a short to mid range gun then keep 1 long and 1 of the others.
Even better, you just keep your best semi-auto suppressed (preferably instigating) Beowulf and all other weapons are useless by comparison so sell them.
Starfield runs surprisingly well on my underpowered system but after 40 hours it seems to have caused my GPU fan to start making noise all the time. It's a six year old system so I'll probably replace everything but I was hoping to get another six months to a year before going that route.

The fan might just need cleaned and the bearings might need oiled. If you are computer hardware savy at all you could try that before buying a whole new system.

I was planning on cleaning things later today but I've never thought of oiling a computer fan!
The oiling assumes you can easily remove the fan from the gpu and that it has bearings. Also you would use a very small amount of lubricant, WD40 would work

Huh, I just got a Beowulf, I'll have to give it a closer look.

I'd use a 3-in-1 machine oil over WD40. WD40 is actually a pretty poor lubricant in the long term. It might work on a door hinge (especially if there's oxidization), but you don't want it on high performance machinery.
Blackhawk beat me to it. I'd certainly use a light machine oil not WD40. It probably wouldn't matter much but WD40 is not really meant to be a general lubricant even if it can work.
Especially since WD40's primary job is as a degreaser - meaning that it will remove what good lubricant is in there and replace it with a lesser - and temporary - lubricant.

WD = Water Displacement
40 = 40th solution.
Which makes me wonder what happened with Preparations A through G.

For my money, the Beowulf is the best all around weapon. In single shot form it will do 170+ damage (200+ if you have internal mods 3 researched), has good range even when suppressed and uses 7.77 ammo which is really common. In stealth level 90+ enemies go down in one hit, even when not stealthed, 3 headshots will do it. I generally don't bother to have anything else favorite except maybe a Lawgiver or if I run across a MagSniper.
I've been favoring pistols, just because they're cool, but I believe I have a Beowulf in the armory so I'll have to pull it out and see what I can do with it.
My general loadout is 6 different pistols that all use different types of ammo, plus a shotgun and an assault rifle, so I haven't been doing much sniping (which is unusual for me -- traditionally I'd be some flavor of stealth sniper).

I found a suppressed/high capacity/assassin's Grendel, and combined with my ballistic and rifle certs, I chew through most people quickly. I also found a 187 damage Bridger with instigating and 20% anti-robotic damage that one-shots any machine I hit. And my last weapon is a 37 damage particle rifle (think) with 30% alien life for when I face off against any critters. I've taken out multiple...um...TM's without a scratch. I've gone completely minimalist with weapons, which is SO TOTALLY against who I normally am in games like this, but it's simplified my play. Now I'm working my way up (down?) the science tree so I can start modding weapons and REALLY start dishing out the damage.
I'm also taking my sweet time on this game because I love it so much. Haven't had a single crash or error yet, other than one time my engines "disappeared" off my Mantis ship after I boarded and sold a pirate ship, but it didn't stop me from flying around and it actually resolved itself the next time I loaded up the game. I"m able to run it on Ultra/High for everything with no stuttering or anything on a 5-year-old rig (but I *did* grab a 3060Ti early last year that certainly helps...). It was even enough to pull me from BG3, so that's saying something HUGE.
Good on ya, Bethesda!

Never heard of WD40 being a degreaser (unless you mean the special formula they have for that), but I thought it was funny that in my top Googling results, saw this:
Keep in mind that WD40 is manufactured and marketed as a household lubricant for those "small jobs" or as a rust remover. For these applications, it does a fine job. However, WD40 is not sold nor should it be used as a replacement for the appropriately selected lubricant for rolling element applications in the plant — unless of course we're talking about the fan in your computer.
I've used wd40 to remove rust, gix the squeak on my door hinges and to lubricant the various fans in my pc. I did have to remive them first or be very careful not to get the spray all the place. If the fans got bad enough I just replaced them.

Sorry, it was early and I've been sick the last few days. The term I wanted was 'penetrating oil', although it can be used as a degreaser. It's a lubricant, yes, but it's a mediocre lubricant that evaporates fairly quickly. It still removes existing lubricants and replaces them with its own, which then evaporate, often leaving you worse off than you were before.
Meanwhile, this is like four or five bucks at Walmart.
I've had this orange symbol under Health which is an environmental warning on my display for an hour or so and I've gone to my ship, to New Atlantis, space stations, etc. So I figure it's a bug. Anyway I should be able to clear it? I've saved and reloaded, restarted, etc. Any ideas?

It's probably just a display bug. I've had it happen a couple of times, and once I had a persistent affliction symbol that stayed around even after I took a couple of drugs to treat it. Eventually they went away, but I don't know if there was some specific action or sequence of events that cleared them.

I don't think that's it. From what I've seen, round symbols are used for environmental hazards and triangular symbols are used injuries/afflictions.
This is true about it being environmental. I actually saw the name of the symbol somewhere but now I can't find it. I'm thinking maybe if I run into a planet with the same environment and going outside and then back inside, maybe that will clear it.
