it seems reasonable to assume these will continue for the foreseeable future, so i started this thread to list these codes. first one for 2021:

Uh, this is a little vague. Where do you redeem this and what games are available?

(I think most or all of the PC games are eligible).

Though I don't know if that code will still work (I don't know how long they're valid for).

Thanks!

And with that, I think I've gotten all the easily identifiable games I want. I'll need to start digging around the next time (or maybe I'll just buy one of the strategy guides for a game I have, just cause).

Coupon code #2: FREEGAME449269

it's too bad this publisher doesn't have a bigger variety of games. they really take their handful of sub-genres and hammer them into the ground with 100s of cosmetic alterations. starting to have to go through the entire Puzzle category to find titles of interest

I think one I just grabbed was #1. I got a holiday one from the same company and game series as the first one I got and enjoyed....the antique one. Also grabbed one Id never seen but had a good review rating.

If, like me, you don't enjoy hidden object adventure games, but rather traditional point and click puzzle adventure games, there Nancy Drew adventure games are OK games (two of the nancy drew games are actually hidden object adventure games, but I actually enjoyed them).

By the way, are there any suggestion on any strategy games they have? (I tried a few, but they all felt generic, and simplistic, time management games and I quickly got bored with them).

i'm slowly accumulating a list of titles that are not hidden object/adventure lite/time management/match three/mahjongg solitaire or the dreaded 'casino' - will post them here as i try them out

i'll make an exception for hidden object, as Pure Hidden is an interesting alternative aesthetic

also posting an exception for match three as i still enjoy Jewel Quest II (don't bother with the first one, as the sequel is much more refined. too bad they don't have the third one)

They used to have a category named "Big File", which generally consisted of plenty of non-big-fish developed games that were typical adventure games. But that category seems to have gone.

Looking through my purchase history, here are a few games that I don't think are typical big fish fare (but are still available there):

The three AGON games.
Avernum 4
The Blackwell games
The Crazy Machines games
The Delaware St John games
Dracula Origin
Kaptain Brawe
Return to Mysterious Island
Rock Tour (managerial, but not as simplistic as they normally are, I think).

And the previously mentioned Nancy Drew games.

Coupon code #2: FREEGAME865027

on the topic of game recommendations: i see they have Book of Demons, but it's listed as "Casual Edition" - what's that about? is it missing Roguelike mode? the retail value of this version is $9.99 on BFG, whereas the regular edition is $24.99 on Steam. i guess i will download the demo and find out.

i've put half an hour into this - thematically it's an homage to/parody of the first Diablo, but gameplay has been even more streamlined (think Dungeon Siege but closer to an idler - movement is restricted to a path through the dungeons and autoattacking is in effect, though you can speed up any default action by click-click-clicking). it also uses a card-based approach to weapons, armor, items and magic, where you can equip any number of cards that will fit within your available mana pool (but at the expense of decreasing usable mana during the dungeon hacking itself). one nice feature is you can generate the size of the next dungeon based on how long you want to play one.

i'm guessing that because it is 'Casual Edition' the higher difficulty levels are not included, as well as the 'freeplay' option to continue playing after beating the campaign. still, you could do waaay worse than redeeming one of your many free coupon codes on this title - i probably will get this. i note also that Kasey Chang and another OO'er have already reviewed this on Steam.

this one is single player only, but the devs are currently working on a multiplayer version called HELLCARD - presumably also larger in scope.

Thanks! I stumbled upon some picross/nanogram/paint by number puzzle games - I enjoy that type of puzzle, so I got Detective Agency Mosaics (not sure if it's particularily good, but hey, detectives). I guess now I know what games I'll be looking at in the future,

Edit: Played the first puzzle. One thing it does differently is that unlike such puzzles Ive played before, after you finish a grid, it then adds more pixels to find in that same grid (but excludes the locations you've already found). So that's interesting and new.

Edit: Not sure I would recommend this one. I played another puzzle and I'm pretty sure there was a spot where there wasn't a unique solution (so I had to guess). Of course, you could use a power to remove the penalty or get around that, but I prefer my puzzles to have a logical solution, rather than something like that or trial and error to get at.

Haha....that's the same one I got last time.
I agree with you. One thing I'd add is that in most every puzzle the picture you're trying to create is wildly inaccurate and near impossible to make out.
This is my first mosaic game and if they're all similar in the depiction of what you're trying to solve, I'll pass.

I don't even look or consider what I'm trying to create - for me, it's all about the numbers.

And normally, it's just like like doing one color (so the first round of a picture, not several rounds). I've enjoyed Pixelo on the android, as a much better version of this kind of game. There's also picross touch on steam, which is free, although it was very easy so I went through the puzzles very quickly.

welcome to first world nation living!

currently i'm hoovering up most of the 10 Tons games on there. 10 Tons is the Finnish developer of Crimsonland (which i invested Quite a Few Hours into back in the early-mid 2000s) but they put out quite a few titles in the casual game craze of late 00s/early 10s.

the ones available on BFG:

King Oddball
Spellspire
Sparkle 1 & 2, Sparkle Unleashed
Azkend 1& 2, Puzkend
Tennis in the FAce
Heroes of Kalevala
Joining Hands 1 & 2
Dragon Portals
Miriel The Magical Merchant, Enchanted Mystery
Profitville
Abundante!

i have already been playing King Oddball, which is basically a Crush the Castle/Angry Birds physics-lite slinging game. it's not what i'd call demanding and all the bonus content is just replaying levels with more restrictions, but it's kinda fun.
