I remember Battle of the Planets, which had a talking R2-D2, also called G-Force. I don't remember ever seeing it as Gatchaman. That was my first anime. That or Simba/Kimba The White Lion, if that counts.

As a maybe a ten year old when exposed, maybe younger, I could never understand why the same bad guys attacked every week nor what their motivation for attacking was.

Watch the trailer there on IMDB's site..horrid. lol. And it stars John Richardson.

Well since my tablet broke and I cant do without a tablet in my life I got a new one. Instead of holding out for the best and brightest I really wanted I got what I could reasonably get now that did it all but not quite as good but I HAVE it and its great. It was my single treat for this month instead of some fancy food item. Thanks to low power bill and other things I was able to get it and not infringe on anything else.

I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 8.7". I love it! So nice sleek and fast and beautiful. All I could want. Still waiting on my GLASS screen shield for it. Not sure Ill get a case for it but a thicker case might make it easier to handle.

Now to figure out what all I can do with it I couldn't do with my old tablet.

OO (GoneGold?) history question: What was the Battle of Fucktard Ridge?

I was doing a nearly unrelated search and came across an oblique nod to this apparently significant historical event. Unfortunately, even a direct search uncovered only ancillary references. May I ask for the full story?

(As far as I can tell, it occurred during the GoneGold days when I was still just a lurker.)

I'm aware that board norms might require that I be piled upon for this request...

Are you familiar with Marvel's Civil War story line? Well, the Battle of Fucktard Ridge is our version. Instead of arguing over whether or not the Sokovia Accords were morally just, there was a fight over owls and memes. It made sense at the time. Unfortunately, it fractured the survivors of Gone Gold's demise even further.

You're confusing the Battle of Fucktard Ridge with Hooterloo. I'm really stretching to remember the details after ~17 years, so expect some of this to be a bit off, and possibly out of order. Also: Both incidents took place on OO, not Gone Gold.

Hooterloo was the owls. People started posting owl pictures in threads, which was funny. Then they started posting them more. Then they started following around a poster that they actively disliked (U2K), posting multiple (sometimes dozens) of owls, resulting that any thread that poster visited being immediately derailed and any discussion stifled. It was referred to as 'owl bombing.' They were asked to stop by a staff member who has since retired (I think his name was Hackblawk or something.) They were asked to stop disrupting threads and stalking certain posters repeatedly. Two threads were locked because of it. Eventually, they were given a straight up warning to stop. They responded with an owl picture. That resulted in a temp ban of an established poster, and a few of that poster's buddies went ballistic because the CoC (remember that?) didn't specifically say that they couldn't stalk people with pictures.

This was when we added a 'catch all' rule to the CoC, basically restating Wheaton's Law: Don't be a dick. It forbade intentionally disruptive behavior without defining it precisely (because defining it precisely was impossible - people would always find a way to skirt around it.) It was a "Mods' discretion" type rule. Those posters who were already angry got even angrier, acting like staff would start going around banning people left and right whenever they felt like it because we didn't have every offense clearly spelled out. Those posters started acting like assholes in response to every single mod decision, every locked thread, every request. It eventually resulted on additional bans, which resulted in those posters taking their ball and starting a new website (Cow Cabal or something.)

I was front-and-center on that one, and the whole thing was a miserable experience, as most of the people that were acting the worst were people I considered personal friends.

Fucktard Ridge was a person (or a few people) who wouldn't stop with personal attacks. A thread got out of control and was locked (I seem to remember Gellar being the proverbial straw, and the lock came from a staff member who has since retired.) A couple of posters took exception to the idea, and started making drama, including personal attacks, which resulted in a ban, which resulted in a few people leaving in a huff.

FWIW, that wave of drama was the reason that I stepped down from being on staff. It had reached a point where my favorite place on the internet was mostly stress and gritted teeth, plus second-guessing every one of my own decisions lest it cause drama. The mod who was point on Fucktard Ridge stepped down too, and I believe the reasoning was similar.

The thing is that we got ride of 90% of the disruptive posters over that period, and the drama pretty much petered out after that, save for (I believe) the BrettMCD hassle.
What doesn't kill me makes me stranger.

Ahhh...you're right! I guess I mixed those events together not realizing they were so distinct. Both were related to moderation and online behavior, but they had very different elements - like the European and Pacific theaters of WW2.

I sort of assumed that they lived in Arkansas not too far from you're old house. I've updated my mental map also.

My OO mental map is horrible. You, Blackhawk, Daehawk, Kraken (for now) and Holman have locations but everyone else is in a nebulus pile of Chicago or maybe Fargo? I know there are people in NJ, Colorado, and Florida but not who is where.

BH and Daehawk are easy (although I put Daehawk in Tenn/Kentucky interchangeably)

Top of my head:
I picture the Chicago group mostly as Lawbeef, Lawboy, Zarathud, Hepcat, JeffV, Seppe, Hentzau, Archinerd, hipolito... (I'm here too)
Texas has Isgrimnur, Cooposonic, LittleRaven
Michigan: LordMortis, Remus West, Chaosraven, recently Scoop### moved there.
Colorado: MHS, Meal, Zaxxon, TheMix, gilraen, I think Defiant too?
California: Piperkub, Jaymann
Pennsylvania: Holman
Mass: Kraken (but moving), El Guapo
Florida: jstemple, msteelers, Jag
Canada: MaxPeck, GreenGoo, Rumpy, Sudy
NJ: Smoove_B?, maybe Malchior?
NY: AWS###
Alabama: Lassr
Georgia: Grifman, I think?
Oregon: Exodor, Kurth
Washington: Alefroth

+1, which makes it hard for me to reconcile that that the Cincinnati airport is in Kentucky, as Ohio is not part of Tennessee.

Random thought.....I wonder if part of a person's or animal's spirit remains in places they were during life be a home or a store...just everywhere they went part of them remains in a way.

Then I wonder if like here at home the part that remains doesn't know they've passed on and they go about their time as always. But the living occupy that space as well. Like if I move some stuff around or walk through do the spirits think Im the ghost? Do they feel me or notice things in the home moved or a small of my cologne?
