No One Lives Forever 2 boxed [+ others] for cost of shipping

Post by hitbyambulance »

while at some random hole in the wall bookstore in Berlin i found a copy of "No One Lives Forever 2: Agentin in Geheimer Mission" - obviously 'auf Deutsch' - in with a box of classcial CDs. the elderly bookstore owner (who didn't speak much English, but i had some German knowledge from long ago) had no idea what it was and said i could have it for two Euro. yes, you can download the game for free online, buf you want the complete box+discs+ref card+manual, i can send it to anyone for cost of shipping when i'm back in the US.

EDIT: forgot i also found a box of PC games outside an apartment building here. grabbed German versions of "Frontline: Fields of Thunder" (from Paradox) and "Star Wars: Republic Commando" also available. (also pirated CD-ROMs of Zoo Tycoon 1 + 2, lol)

it should be noted that this is just down the street from me: https://www.computerspielemuseum.de/ )

Great find. I don't need physical copies sitting around, but when I was studying German, I had considered installing a few games with German as a language option and playing it that way. I never got far enough for that to be an option, though. I do think about going back to it from time to time. It's very, very unlikely that I'll ever need the language (or any other beyond English) where I live, but I enjoy learning.

you sure can (the first one as well):

https://nolfgirl.net/Unityhq/forums/fil ... -pc-media/
https://nolfgirl.net/Unityhq/forums/fil ... and-media/

as discussed elsewhere on this here forum, both titles' licensing rights are split between three different companies and to this day have never been released for sale for online/download.

The last I heard, while the rights are spread out all over the place, none of the people who hold the rights is entirely sure who has the ability to authorize a remake/sequel/remaster/GoG release. Several people/companies have inquired about buying the rights from all three, but it hasn't gone anywhere. You can also find the spin-off, Contract JACK, too, along with Aliens vs Predator 2 (another game, also by Monolith, also using the same engine, that is in IP limbo.)

Yeah, if I remember correctly there was hope from one of the remaster studios such as Beamdog or Nightdive Studios to remaster/remake it, but because the rights were such in a complicated mess, they were never able to properly sort it out and get the rights. This one is the definition of being in Limbo.

I'd love to replay NOLF 1 and 2 and Aliens vs Predator 2. All 3 were awesome. I ditched my CD copies long ago. (More fool me.) Thanks for the info.
