The Corruption of Lindsey Graham

Post by malchior »

Will Saletan who wrote for Slate for many years and now resides at the Bulwark released a case study in the form of a short book. Here at The Bulwark.

It documents step by step how Lindsey Graham transformed from a political opponent of Trump to one of his most loyal servants. He chose Graham because there is so much material available to pick through. I've only read about half so far this morning through 2018 aka Chapter 4 in the manuscript but it does a great job tying all the threads together. Unless it falls apart this is essential reading if you want to understand how the GOP became an authoritarian cult.

It also reminds me of all the facts that have been muddied and discounted over time. It does however reinforce both the danger of Trump but also a playbook that documents how Trump or the next authoritarian will ultimately succeed in the end. That isn't his message but you can't read this and not get a sense that our republic is falling, it can't be stopped, and it is just living on borrowed time.

Sorry for reviving this thread. I think it's up to date, considering Trump's conviction.
It is what it is. It's no secret that politicians can get tangled up in all sorts of illegal dealings, and Lindsey Graham is no exception. White-collar crimes, like tax fraud and money laundering and others shown here https://federal-lawyer.com/, aren't exactly uncommon in political circles, unfortunately.
But let's face it, this isn't exactly breaking news. These things happen and will continue to happen.

If find this to be an odd post to make after 2 months of silence. Do you have anything to say about Lindsey Graham?

Previous to this, it was benefit of the doubt.
