I've been on a barrel aged stout kick lately but recently had Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale on tap. I haven't had it on tap at a good bar in ages and it was wonderful.
That sound of the spoon scraping over the can ribbing as you corral the last ravioli or two is the signal that a great treat is coming. It's the washboard solo in God's own

I bought a case of Celebration last week. It's not the be-all-and-end-all that it was in the early days of the craft beer revolution, but it's still a damned fine seasonal IPA.

I also got a four-pack of Teddie Peanut Butter Porter, and probably won't be able to find it again. Teddie is the world's best peanut butter, and Night Shift brews some fine beers, but you won't find either much past Boston.

Interestingly to me, I found out that there are exceptions to that rule. Korbel, a local bay area establishment, is grandfathered in and can label their sparkling wine as champagne.

I have been to their Napa facility, a long time ago. I believe I have seen others use the name so there must be some exceptions besides age. Maybe French owners.

There's a similar rule in Canada, but much more specific. Most Ontario wine comes from the Niagara region, and there's a specific type of dessert wine called an icewine. A local (to me) winery tried making an icewine but they were told because they weren't in the Niagara region, they couldn't call it an icewine.

Been drinking a lot of Sierra Nevada Celebration the last few weeks. I really appreciate a true West Coast IPA instead of all the hazy, sweet, fruity shit that passes as IPAs today.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Germany has some kind of restriction on the use of that term.

I have now bought 2 twelve packs of Celebration and will buy a third or fourth. It really tastes good to get away from the citrus IPA’s for awhile. It is even better when I can get it on tap.

The fact that no one has posted in this thread since last year is either A) a good sign for our collective health; or B) a crying shame.

Anyway, I am drinking fruity gin. I got a Porthole for my birthday and tried it out for the first time today. Nothing fancy, just Gordon's gin with some strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and peaches. I let it sit for 4 hours and now I have pink, fruit cocktail-flavored gin. It's a good thing the vessel doesn't hold too much, because this goes down so easy that it could be dangerous.

In the craft beer world, where I live, it's a reflection that beer has become hyperlocal. All of my favorite beers are from MA, ME, or VT, and they don't circulate outside New England. Not much point in telling y'all how excellent they are because you also have excellent beers that I'll never see.

I've been trying to lose weight and have all but given up alcohol in the process. I'll still have an occasional beer or cocktail if I'm out somewhere, but my intake at home has pretty much stopped. There are times when I miss it, but I know it's probably the better way...for now...

I'm enduring a bit of a beerquake, in that there is no packie in my new hometown that can match the one I left behind. Craft beer selections are smaller, prices are higher, and my favorite local brews aren't local anymore. My weekly run to a craft beer mecca is history.

Although the brewing scene is smaller out here, I trust that I'll find new local favorites, will learn to be content with shopping small, and will make occasional forays into VT for Alchemist brews. I have a friend less than an hour north of us whose grocery store routinely stocks Heady Topper and Focal Banger. Ima start visiting her once a month or so.

Let’s see, I recently visited my daughter in Portland and tried several area beers. One brewery that I particularly liked was Ft. George out of Astoria. I am also enamored of a beer from a Redding, California brewery called Fall River Brewing. Their Hexegenia is one of my favorite beers.

I also bought my first 6 pack of Celebration yesterday. 👍

So Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is out, and I am drinking it. I have also discovered a place just down the street selling Pliny the Elder in the 17oz bottles. Times are good.

Yea Celebration Ale in cans disappeared around here before Thanksgiving. Still some 12-pack bottles here and there. I don't buy bottles anymore.

Anyone have a pinter? Just ordered one with Dark Matter (Classic stout) and Space Hopper (Double IPA) kits. Kits come with 1x Fresh Press, 1x Fresh Brewing Yeast, and 1x Pinter Purifier and depending on the style may also come with a Hopper.

Seems it was a Kickstarter from 4 years ago. They have a black Friday deal for $49. Incudes pinter ,glass and 2 kits. Supposed to make 12 pints. You do a subscription but you can pause or cancel any time.

If you have one have you tried other kits. Have seen some people put in their own hops and yeast on you tube.

I used to make beer but stopped when the kids were born. I would make 5 gallons at a time. This was before beer making really kicked off and I used to buy my supplies in Berkeley when visiting my sister.
