Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
I can finally thankfully say I am all out of treasure maps again. And from all the hard work I put into it and the lack of anything resembling good loot I dont think Ill ever collect another map again.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
The treasure maps are an exact copy of how ESO does treasure maps. However, since ESO allows addons, they end up being a lot less of a pain in the butt because there is at least one addon (I use Lost Treasure) that puts a marker on the appropriate map if you have a treasure map in your inventory. Without that, I'd probably never manage to dig up a single treasure chest, ever.

I dont think Ive ever seen or had a treasure map in ESO. I didn't know it was a thing. How do you get them? Sounds fun.

I'm not sure why the exact same thing in ESO would be fun when you didn't find it to be worth the effort in F76, but to each their own.
I posted a link in the ESO thread with info about the treasure maps in that game.

Well in 76 it was the loot that sucked and didn't make it worth the time I felt. What kinda loot can you get from the ones in ESO?

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
The resource I posted in the ESO thread provides details on the type of loot. It's nothing all that special, with the best items, like pieces of the regional overland gear set or antiquities leads, not being guaranteed to drop. For the most part, it's going to be a stack of vendor trash. I would never bother to search them out using just the in-game treasure map (which is not a map, just a drawing of the landscape features at the location where it is buried), but I do dig them up if I happen to be in the area where X marks the spot (courtesy of the Lost Treasure addon), or if a daily endeavor stipulates looting a treasure chest.

Hmmm shame they couldn't make it better than that. Even US way back in the day had a fun treasure hunt map thing. You'd fish them up randomly then it took a player with the skill to decrypt to find the location and then it would take a good group or in our case our guild to go out and fight off the monster while someone dug it up. And as I recall the loot was pretty good and worth the effort.

Ya know right off the top of my head I dont think there was a better quest line story than the one with the spy girls training school. I had a lot of fun listening to all the holostories of from the past and following along all the quests and making the items. I even wore the set there a while in the beginning. No its not a great set but it was all fun. I wish they'd had more of those or release a new big quest like that again. This skyline stuff is cool but I felt I was doing fun detective work and stuff in that one. It was a cool concept liek a james bond mixed with No One Lives Forever game.

Yeah, the Mistress of Mystery story line is a favorite of mine, too.
I've spent the Double SCORE weekend power-levelling like a maniac, going from level 275 to 341 so far. I'm using a mismatched set of Unyielding armor with a low-health build to pump up my SPECIAL stats in general and my Int (for the bonus XP) in particular. My general MO is to keep an eye out for popular public events and jump in on them in the hope that a few people will pop off lunch boxes -- each one is good for an hour of +25% XP, and can stack up to +100%. With that buff in hand, I then head off to the West Tek research center and grind L100 supermutants for a while. In addition to levelling up the character and unlocking the final legendary perk slot at L300, this has also been a big boost to my SCORE for season 17 since you get a base 100 SCORE every 10k XP until reaching rank 100, after which the only source of SCORE are the daily and weekly challenges.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
Do you mean the Slug Buster? I don't have one (I sided with the Settlers rather than the Raiders), but from the description it looks like a regular plasma gun with a built-in reduction in AP cost. It seems to be intended as a VATS weapon, but I've never found plasmas to be particularly good for that -- my preferred VATS load-out is automatic ballistic rifles (e.g. Fixers or Handmades). I do find plasma weapons to be effective for close-quarters combat, but that's because I build them with flamer barrels, in which case VATS is kind of pointless.
If you don't find it useful, you could try putting it up for sale on your vendor. It's a unique weapon that can only be obtained from a specific quest, so it may have some value to someone as a collectible.

Ya the Slug Buster. Sounds neat. Ill keep it . May use it. I have a couple other VATS weps I never used like a alien blaster. I never used vats until recently and finding it useful for spotting enemies ahead I cant see and in events. I never miss with my bow now.

I see now why they made me move my camp from near that town. Theres a festival parade event there now. Has a parade you join in on and fight stuff along the way as it marches around town. I got a blue screen halfway through so missed the rewards. Found an elite blue devil corpse. It started every hour at the top of each hour.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
I explained that as soon as you posted the initial issue. The real problem is that the buildable area was within the boundaries of the event. Players were setting up their CAMPs next to the town, then staying AFK and collecting all of the rewards without actually playing. They responded by taking away the ability to build there.

I think my junk dog is broken or bugged. I cant switch what its scavenging for now.
Also Im disappointed in the fasnatch parade event. I crash on it a lot.1st time was a bluescreen so that was on me Im sure. 2nd run was fine. and now this 3rd run had a LOUD machinegun firing sound behind one of the houses ruining it then i crashed out..not a blue screen . So Im guessing it was the parade itself. Not sure Ill bother. I one the masks amd would have fun but running ti over and over halfway to have it crash is not fun.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
The main draw for Fasnacht, for me, is that a sizable chunk of the server population will be in one place at one time and there's a good chance that a few of them will be popping off lunch box buffs, which means bonus XP for the next hour. Rinse and repeat every hour on the hour for the duration of the event.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
That's exactly it. Max out those two, keep them equipped. You go out and drink the serums for the mutations you want (and almost all are good once the negative effects are reduced to almost nothing - most people run with all but a few of them), then keep the cards equipped. Note that if you take the cards off and get irradiated, you'll get mutations that you don't want, and if you take the cards off and use Rad-Away, you'll lose all the mutations - so keep the cards on.

Gotten a good few fasnatch masks now. Im just getting repeats on the plans so stashing them to sell on my vendor after event is over.
On the legendary things I buy at the moleman....is there anything I should be using them on?..like what weps?..I only used some to make a handmade nice....Im thinking maybe a railway rifle or perhaps a sniper rifle..not sure..i have named in a lot of weps already..not sure what I could make better from a plain gun. Let me know and Ill test them out. Im just selling my items from events as they all suck but are worth script. Gamblin on a *** ranged wep hasn't gotten me anyting good in at least 30 tries. Thinking of trying *** melee.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
I don't recall - there have been quite a few pages, but I do remember writing it up once, including the process.
Short version:
1. Max out Class Freak and Starched Genes.
2. Collect serums for all of the mutations you want.
3. Drink serums
4. Equip those two cards.
After that keep those two cards equipped. If you don't have them equipped and remove your radiation, it removes all of your mutations. If you don't have them equipped and gain too much radiation, it will add new mutations (and since you already have the ones you want from serums, you'll only get the ones you don't want, and have to start all over from scratch.)
I did break down some of the benefits you could gain if you take the right mutations, and showed how the Class Freak card lowers penalties. If you take the right mutations, the bonuses from one counter the penalties left over from another, with a net gain. So you might take a -1 to a stat from one mutation, but a +3 to that same stat from another. I'm not sure if you end up with any -X at the end, but there are enough benefits that it outweighs the tiny loss. Here was that post:

If you take the right mutations, the bonuses from one counter the penalties left over from another, with a net gain. So you might take a -1 to a stat from one mutation, but a +3 to that same stat from another. I'm not sure if you end up with any -X at the end, but there are enough benefits that it outweighs the tiny loss. Here was that post:

Class Freak, when maxed, reduces the downsides of mutations so far that they become irrelevant.
Here's what you could have:
~Critical Damage +50% and Perception +4
~Agi +4 and fall slowly
~Int +6
~Health regeneration +300%
~Carry Weight + 20 and increased jump height
~Damage and Energy resistance +50
~Move and reload 20% faster
~Increased weapon damage when health is low
And I mean that you can have all of them, all at once, and that's less than half of what's available. But it only works if both perks are maxed and equipped.
Here are a couple of examples without Class Freak and with Class Freak maxed:
Bird Bones (no Class Freak) - Reduced fall speed, Agi +4, Str -4
Bird Bones (Class Freak) - Reduced fall speed, Agi +4, Str -1
Egg Head (no Class Freak) - Intelligence +6, Endurance -3, Strength -3
Egg Head (Class Freak) - Intelligence +6
You get the idea. There are still very small penalties, but they're reduced so much that the bonuses from other mutations cancel them out completely (like the -1 Str from Bird Bones is countered by the + carry weight from Marsupial.)

Additionally, you can suppress the negative effects of a mutation for one hour by taking a dose of the corresponding serum. I don't think it's usually worth the cost of the serum, but if you have a stack of them there might be some scenarios where you want to do that.

So any tips on guns to legendary mod and test at getting something? Or just go for the good ones like rr rifle and such that are strong to start with?. Thought about making a plain box and modding it..i love my Burning Love due to the fire dot and its unique looking but its no longer strong at my lvl of about 175

I'd strongly recommend taking slow falling if you want high jumping. The move/reload speed and straight damage resistance are pretty significant, too. And triple health regen? Once you get that, you don't have to heal at all unless you're in the middle of a fight - stimpack use drops by 90% at that point. Also, I believe that Marsupial is giving you a -1 Int. Egg Head gives you that back, and five more, with zero downsides.

If you have some gold saved up, you might want to check out Minerva's current offerings while she's camped outside of Foundation. This week she's selling the plans for the gauss minigun, which seems very nice on paper at least. It's a heavy weapon with explosive ammunition and is treated as an energy weapon, which means its works with heavy weapons, science and explosives perks. She'll be there for another couple of days.
I had a nice nest egg built up, so I bought the gauss minigun plans along with the complete set of plans for Thorn Armor.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
Thanks..ive never bothered finding her before. Also never used Gauss rifles due to slow one shot low damage. I kept a dual or quad shot one a while but needed stash room.

Regular gauss rifles are meant as sniper rifles.

Re: [Bethesda] Fallout 76
The Class Freak perk reduces the negative effects of mutations by 75% at level 3, so while it does minimize them to a large degree it will never completely eliminate them. The only way to do that is to take a dose of the appropriate serum, which will completely suppress negative effects for an hour.
For comparison, here are my mutations without Class Freak...
...then with Class Freak...
...and finally with Class Freak and Strange in Numbers while grouped with another mutant.

But if you take the right combination, the bonuses from one will counter the penalty from another.
