2024 Steam Summer sale

Post by Dave Allen »

Every Steam sale I look for the price I'm willing to pay for certain games.
I don't know what that price is, but when I see it, I know it.
On my list of most-wanted:
Alyx
Hogwarts Legacy
Elden Ring
Rogue Trader
Colony Ship
Knights of the Chalice 2
Lamplighters League
Tactics Ogre
System Shock
Crusader Knights III
Subnautica: Below Zero
Jagged Alliance 3
Old World
Age of Wonders 4

... but what I usually end up buying are a bunch $5-$10 adventure/puzzle games.
Jesus said, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body."[Matt 10:28] God can totally destroy us.

Jesus also said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”[John 6:40] Eternal life is conditional.

His disciple John wrote, "Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life. [1 John 5:12] Eternal life is optional.

Steam sales aren't special anymore. What usually happens is that they post the sale, and then they're immediately undercut by places like Fanatical and Green Man Gaming. If you want cheap, you don't go directly through Steam. You buy, they give you a key, you redeem it on Steam. Of course, the trick is knowing which third-party sites are legitimate, and which are gray market resellers.

There's an easy way. Put those into a list on Is There Any Deal. You'll find much better prices than you will on Steam (it will always show you the lowest price from all tracked stores), and ITAD is fastidious about vetting any store they track - everything there is going to be legitimate.
What doesn't kill me makes me stranger.

I agree. It took me a few years to accumulate all the games I will never have time to play, but the special enjoyment I got from frenzied buying is no more. I am not alone. There is an estimated 19 billion dollars worth of unplayed games that were purchased on Steam.

+1 to all of this. I don't think I've bought anything from steam directly in 2 years. I also just this year started using ITAD to import my wishlist so the website can notify me of any deals on the games I want that are happening elsewhere besides steam.

I think I may have bought some 5 dollar cosmetic items for a couple of games directly from Steam in the last 2 years. That's probably it.

edit: Nope. Wife gets me a steam card for xmas, so I usually spend most of that. Which means I have in fact bought directly from Steam as recently as last December. Oh, and a bunch of gifts for other people. Those don't count :D
