Well and truly.

In November, I can either breathe a temporary sigh of relief, or i can give up, go back to bed, adopt a rocking chair lifestyle, and leave the news off for the next two or three decades until I move into a cozy grave.

Either way, the stakes are so high that I'm not calling it done until November.
And November is going to be a complete and utter shit show.
Entirely possible. It's simply the true point-of-no-return. Everything up to that will be shifting the odds, maybe even so much that it's moot, but until November, nothing is set in stone (after all, there was near zero chance of Trump taking 2016 to begin with!)

So I'm following, but trying not to overthink it until November. Overthinking it is just as likely to ensure that I have a stress related breakdown long before then, if I don't straight up keep over from a heart attack. When November rolls around, then I'll decide whether or not to give up and just ride out the rest of my life in willful ignorance.

Breaking News.

As an addendum, the Supreme Court has ruled that Nixon was Immune from Impeachment, and that Spiro Agnew's Bribes he took in the White House were just Official Duties.

As such, Nixon and Agnew have been Re-instated as President and Vice President, effective immediately.

Should immediately announce four more seats are being created. And once there are delays or obstructions or whatever, maybe people just start disappearing.

You know, officially - of course.

The real point of this decision is to muddy the waters. They know that it's going to be next to impossible to determine what an illegal act in an "official" capacity is vs an illegal act in a "personal" capacity. The only system we have in deciding that is.....the courts.

It's a stacked deck. It's a get out of jail free card for Republican presidents. For Democrats - whoops, looks like our stacked courts are going to have to declare that a personal act, not an official one. Sorry!

Feels pretty quick now. I was holding out a bit of hope that they wouldn't go too far and they actually went even further than I would have ever imagined. We legit could have camps of homeless people and illegal immigrants this time next year.

I realized today that I might be doom scrolling the remainder of my life. Before Trump I would never have imagined this could happen here.

IANAL. But I can't image any outcome other than immunity for official acts, no immunity for things outside official acts, which will, I assume, immediately send Trump's lawyers off to demand a whole 'nother round of lower court motions to DQ the indictments because "official acts" which will of course be appealed even if dismissed, and put the final nail in the trial before the election coffin.

I also can't imagine any other outcome for Chevron except for one that continues to gut the power of "unelected regulatory bodies that are accountable to no one blah blah blah."

I’d wager the New York criminal and civil cases are also going to be overturned now.

Any evidence from when trump was in office is now inadmissible (effectively). This means he is going to get off these as nearly all brought in evidence from his time in office.

My impression was that it wasn't 'in office', it was 'official duties.' If he was doing something that had nothing to do with the office of President, he'd still be open to prosecution.

I would be shocked if the sentencing doesn't get delayed, kicked up to the supreme court and squashed like everything else. The actually went out of their way to finely detail all the ways to cover Trumps ass in their ruling. It's batshit insane.

Completely disagree about November being ‘the turning point’. I honestly believe we just passed it with these two decisions. SC showing true colors now and not giving a fuck. At least before Roberts was still protesting about how they were impartial. Now he’s just letting it ride.

So much more important than any one presidential election. SC is firmly in control of the reigns now.

This is one time where I think the law of unintended consequences should apply. Biden should declare Roberts, Amy, and drunk guy enemies of the state and have them arrested. After all, he is immune.

Yeah, but what's going to happen is that conservative presidents are going to be immune for these "reasons", but liberal presidents are not immune for these "other reasons".

When you have total control over something, the public reasons are just cover to keep the masses from rioting. In the meantime you do what you want, when you want.

The turning point was Trump winning in 2016 and replacing 1/3 of SCOTUS during his term.

It was more of an arc that began with McConnell's proudest moment and concluded with TFG winning. I don't think I can ever forget McConnell being the worst American of lifetime. Though, he might yet get unseated. TFG is really trying and I'm fairly certain if/when he wins in November, he will grab the ring.

My only hope (and this is a long shot), is that this ruling becomes #1 in people's minds when deciding who to vote for. And fence-sitters make the right decision on whether Biden or a self-proclaimed dictator is handed the reigns of unlimited power.

Biden needs to be hammering this point home in every single speech from here until election day.

alas...

In the debate, Biden used his 1 minute Reply Time on the abortion question asked to Trump and managed to change it into a conversation about illegal immigrants killing young American women.

He won't be hammering this point home, probably even once.

People will be arguing what the turning point was for decades - Trump's election? RvW? McConnell holding back a SC nomination? Clinton's impeachment?

November is not the turning point.

November is the point-of-no-return. Everything until then is just stacking the odds, and those odds are getting slimmer and slimmer.

Well, they kind of already did. He called a press conference at 7:45 last night to talk about nothing but the decision and to denounce it.

Biden has a top-notch campaign team. There's no way they're not going to turn this into a leading issue heading into the election. From a "silver linings" perspective, it accomplished two things - it distracted the public from Biden's debate performance (which is all the media has been able to talk about), and it gives him another way to make this election about something other than him personally.

I'm totally down for the red-meat that can be made from this (and the other topics that seem quite obvious)

I'm just totally used to the Dems sitting on these things and letting them go to no real good use.

I'm thrilled that Biden has denounced the ruling, but it's July 1st and we have 4 months to go.

I -quite sincerely- hope you are right.
