Subnautica 2 hints are emerging.

If it's a video game it goes here.

Subnautica 2 hints are emerging.

Post by Blackhawk »

For those who don't know, when you complete Subnautica, you can leave behind a time capsule. Time capsules contain an image, a paragraph or two of text, and a few items, all of your choice. Those that are approved are scattered around the world in each new game. Other players will find your time capsule with an image of your base, your cuddledish, or just a cool view along with the text you wrote and a few items to help them along (it can't be anything unbalancing.) They're fairly rare - I usually only find two or three on a full run.

Lately, the devs seem to have been substituting their own time capsules containing - you guessed it - hints for Subnautica 2, including small screenshots. Link

As one of my all-time favorites, I'm happy that we're starting to get hints of what's in store. It's also a really smart way to get people talking about the game, and to draw them back into Subnautica to look for the elusive hints.

It's one of my all time favorites as well.

I tried to get into the follow up, but for some reason it didn't give me the same feels. I should go back and try again though, as sometimes it's just a moment in time that can be the problem and not the game itself.

Same here, I just hope it’s better than Below Zero. Still haven’t been able to stay interested enough to finish, but the first game I couldn’t put down.

I finished Below Zero but didn't find it nearly as interesting as the original. I really hope they can recapture what made the first one so special.

I enjoyed Below Zero, but I'll agree that it wasn't quite Subnautica. It felt more confined, for one thing, and less mysterious.

Part of that can be explained by the fact that it was originally intended as an expansion for Subnautica, and was promoted to standalone.

And if you haven't played the original lately, they added a ton of the stuff from Below Zero to it.

New content or just mechanics from Below Zero?

Some mechanics (like pinning recipes, sprinting), some of the new structures (like the large room!) No creatures, vehicles, or anything like that that would actually change how it plays.

I really, really enjoyed the first game until it scared me so badly I had to immediately uninstall it. Apparently I have megalohydrothalassophobia and didn't know it.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

That's okay, you probably just need a helpful companion animal to conquer your fears:

In a way, I hope this is teaser with another character appearing at the end isn't an indication that the game is moving away from the isolation the first game engendered in players. Part of the reason I felt it was so so good is that I did feel like I was stranded somewhere without any foreseeable help in my future.

I probably should have added the text - multiplayer is part of the game. Or at least an option.

Ah, got it. As long as it's just an option, that's fine. I just liked the dread that the isolation in the first game caused in me.
