Solid burgers, good "frozen custard"...overall slightly above average fast food burger joint with good desserts.

I love Culver's burgers, ok with the crinkle cut fries, and the frozen custard is the superior fast food frozen desert. I sometimes get the pork cutlet sandwich and when in season, the walleye sandwich.

The Youtuber who I posted just above your post hates Culver's. Not sure if the ones around his area sucks (he is in Texas, I am in MN) or just different tastes. Although that very video I posted he did give Culver's Pretzel Pub Burger a very good score. Also worth noting, Culver's is really popular with senior citizens. No idea why.

Probably because we vacationed a lot in Wisconsin.

Never had their burgers, but wife and son like them. Their walleye sandwich/dinner platter is pretty good, although I'd prefer it less greasy. I had to get that for my MiL when she was here on Fridays when the kids got their crappy meals from McDonalds.

I look forward to living where freshwater fish is on the menu. Here on the coast, all fish are ocean fish.

Never seen a Culver's. Don't hold that against them.

Walleye and fresh water perch are superb. The other day we went for a walk in a forest preserve, there was a mostly dried up drainage creek that ended in a concrete slab, there was a grate and the path went over it. Apparently, when it floods, the water passes under the grate.

There were probably 200 bluegill trapped in a dwindling puddle at the end of the creek bed. None big enough to eat (except for my wife...Filipinos eat guppies). but still it was sad to see all of these fish suffering like this.

I've had bluegill in restaurants in Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin. Always excellent. When my wife catches a bunch, she swears never again after the effort of cleaning them, but when she fries them, they are good as well.

I grew up in MI so I know all about lake fish. Our new house is 0.4 mile from a boat landing on Pontoosuc Lake, which holds many fish whose destiny is my belly. See Pontoosuc Lake Park on that map? I'm going to live across the street. I am soooo going to buy me a fishing boat.

Theres a lot of fast foods out there...but if you stop and think about it theres no fast food joints based on Greek foods.

Imagine a new fast food place pops up called say... Acropolis. It is Greek themed, with the fake white pillars outside that make each spot look like a min Parthenon.

The foods would be lamb based not beef...so Im thinking Gyros and such as main. Then you'd of course have the Greek salads and Moussaka for the health conscious and vegetarians

Everything would be cooked in olive oil too so there that health stuff again eating healthy....not to mention alternatives like fish and such.

Desserts such as Baklava could be sold.

Sides might find Halloumi Fries.

So is it me ....am I alone here in wanting a Greek slanted fast food franchise?

Well, not greek, but close enough. A Lebanese family immigrated here about 10 years ago now, opened a restauraunt. And while they've had many struggles, including arson that made them have to restart, they've been very successful. They're essentially offering middle-eastern fastfood, and they make very tasty Shawarmas, and they also make their own desserts such as Baklava. In the summer, they have a food truck that they used at outdoor events such as our local music festival.

We also have another higher-end Lebanese restauraunt in our city.

We also have a Jamaican restauraunt. They have jerk chicken, lamb, oxtail, etc. Also have a food truck.

I guess you first have to look at the community you live in and see if it attracts the kinds of people that would open up restauraunts like that. They need opportunities to do what they know best to do. Otherwise, it most likely won't happen.

Other than the food trucks, those sound like "regular" restaurants. We have a number of Greek restaurants in the area. Dae was specifically talking about a "fast food" Greek restaurant. And while it generally doesn't take long to get the food, I wouldn't classify any of our local ones as "fast food".

Well, it could possible be that certain foods like Greek food tend to be hard to classify into 'fast-food', maybe due to the time it takes to prep them. But I should clarify, that none of those are sit-down restauraunts, but take-out only, and in my eyes, that would classify as fast-food. You go there, order, and get out fast. The other option are food-court style places that are often chains, such as Osmow's.

Man I haven't had jerk chicken in 25 years. Our local mall's food court had a place move into it after one of the main chains left that served jerk chicken. First and only time I had it. And I got it every time we went. Lasted about a year and gone.

As someone who is still 12 when it comes to food, I have to ask, when did Hamburger Helper start to suck so bad. And I mean bad. 80/20 Burger was on sale on for $2.99 a pound. So my rare treat I bought some and HH was "on sale" at $1.29, so I bought some. What a friggen waste of a pound of burger. Put HH on the list of things never to be bought again. The contents of the package are smaller and the food is bland, so it's basically spooning mouthfuls of watered down burger in your mouth without even having the courtesy of being taco meat or an actual burger. One would think I bought a knock off. Next time, I make something like that it, it will homemade.

Well, then, I think it's been a bit more than 10 years since I last had it. I'm surprised. I mean I still will occasionally revel in a box of mac and cheese, as example. How are they still a big part of instant noodle aisle if they are that bad and that expensive for being that bad? Like if I bought a box of Aldi brand and it was like $.69, I'd go "that's what you get for buying an Aldi brand at 1/3 the cost." Still. Lesson learned. Don't waste good ground beef.

I made slumgullion a couple of weeks ago, which is what Hamburger Helper wants to be. Really quick and easy to make a big ol' vat. Brown your burger with onions (peppers and mushrooms optional), boil your noodles, heat up a can of diced tomatoes, combine, and stir in some shredded cheese. I used taco seasoning on the Beyond burger this time and it was quite tasty.

Hamburger Helper was gross when my mom made it when I was a kid. I never even considered trying it after learning how to cook.

The only ground beef-based slop I make is chili, and my recipe is pretty damned good. Otherwise, I transform ground beef into meatballs or burgers. Nothing else.

Dont buy the so named Sloppy Joe canned sauce. Its over salted. And Manwich normal is weak. Make sure the can says BOLD.

I cant believe it! Petro's is back in Hamilton Place Mall.

It was in the food court and me and my wife ate there almost every time we went. Their signature Petro cup is so awesome. but they left this entire around in the mid 1990's. We missed them so and always hoped they'd return. Well now they have and of course its after my wife has passed. We lived in that mall but Ive not gone once since she passed. Dont see me ever going back. Oh well. Wish things were different.

Little Caesars has a lunch special that compares to half of one of their detroit deep dish pepperoni pizzas and a bottle of some pepsi product for $5.99, beats papa johns two tiny slices and a soda for $5.00 any day, probably over double the amount of pizza easily. A full size detroit deep dish costs around $12 so Little Caesars lunch special is a darn good deal

Fascinating. This is about 65% of the way to parody.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Even at the $9.50 for a deep dish around here, $6 for half and a pop is a good deal. Especially considering a "4 corner" pepperoni deep dish is $8 to $12 anywhere else and doesn't come with a pop. The commercial has me tempted, as I haven't had LC pizza much less a deep dish since I started calorie counting. I'm finally in a place where I can eat one, only I keep so much food in the house, it's still hard to warrant carry out, even as I walk/jog past a LC pretty much every day.

Ive looked up a lot of info on cooking frozen chicken breasts. All that ive seen says 45 min on 400. But when i tried that it was barely done on the outside then raw then frozen deeper in.

my wife cooked at like 475 for a little over an hour. I cannot recall her times and temps exactly so every time I bake one I try a new guess. Im at around 475 for an hour and a half now. Thats totally different that anything I see online. I dont get the difference or how they could possibly cook one right.

Make sure the oven is at 400 before you pop them in. If you’re turning on the oven and immediately tossing the breasts in and starting the timer, you’re not really cooking them at 400 for 45.

Also, get yourself an inexpensive meat thermometer.

Because you are supposed to defrost it first. Instructions to cook from frozen only work when a) you have very good precise equipment, and b) you actually know what you are doing.

Considering it takes 2 hours tops to thaw out chicken breasts in a bath of cold water, you could have saved yourself an hour's worth of energy of running the oven at 475...ffs.
