While a modest .2 drop this week doesn't look like a lot, the Lose It! app has really been paying dividends. In the two weeks I've been using it, I've stayed below 200 every single day, which was absolutely unheard of before. And overall I'm hitting the roughly one pound a week mark I need to hit to stay on track. I have no doubt that the average will start to come down, as I've been regularly hitting year-to-date lows of 197.

According to the app I should hit my goal weight of 185 in October. I'm pretty skeptical about that, but I'm not concerned if I don't get there in that time frame. I intentionally put an aggressive goal in place so that even partial victory would feel like a big win. If I'm down even just 10 pounds by the time I see the doc in November, I'll be thrilled.

I'm also on Week 4 of consistent 20-minutes a day rowing, at least 5 days a week.

Touched 175 for the first time in couple of months. I'm still trying to get right in my head that I'm at the point where I can put on weight and it's probably "good" weight, aka weight contributing to strength, energy, and endurance.

Another day where the 10-day averages are a bit deceiving. Even though it was a small drop in the average, I've lost 3 pounds since July 24th, and hit my lowest single day weight of the year today at 197.1.

Something ain't right. I've been feeling weak with hunger all day. I've both been taking in calories and bulky roughage with water and the hunger weakness is just not going away. I'm up to 3200 calories most days. I can't see how this can be anything approximating starvation.

Don't know. Today, as example is 111 grams of protein, which might be a light day. I usually have meat on any given day and today I have not. My protein has been milk, cheese, and eggs. Looking at my history. 90-110 grams is pretty typical. 70 might be a light day. The interwebs says it's fine but it wasn't something I ever checked until just now.

I've had a couple English muffins with butter with that same thinking. No go. Just me getting old and my body energy hating what I put it through for the last two years, I guess. Health wise, I'm in better shape than I was through my entire 40s. I've managed to pretend to turn back time on quite of my concerns. Just not the grey hair, saggy skin, muscle building, recovery from work, achy creaking bones, etc...

Still trying to get it in my head that weight gain for muscle build may be OK. I red line calories. My weight is slowly trending up. I'm comfortable with how I feel but that I get gunshy and pull back.

10 day average finally starting to show some progress. Unfortunately I had a REALLY bad weekend - cookout + birthday party, so I've got to get back on the wagon. My discipline is excellent during the week, but I've had a hard time controlling myself when I'm out of the routine. Definitely need to get that in check before the holidays.

I haven't tried it, but I thought Lose It allowed for extra strict weekdays and extra loose weekends.

It does - although "extra loose" might be stretching it a bit. :) Under Calorie Scheduler, I use "Early Weekender" to get more on Fri & Sat. It's only 237 kcal more than the other days of the week, but it is a noticeable difference.

I use that, but unfortunately it doesn't allow for two margaritas, a bacon cheeseburger, and birthday cake.

 That sounds nice. The good thing is if you lead an active lifestyle (I did not at the outset) once you get to your goal weight, calorie intake can really open up and my weight, at least, remains stable. Unfortunately, if you are like me, you are consuming upwards of 3200 or even 3300 calories in a day and are often still hungry. I still find myself dropping back down to 2600 to 2800 when I feel guilty about my weight slowly trending up even as I think my weight gain is healthy. And so my internal monologue argues and argues and argues. As long as I'm feeling better as it happening, I think I will allow a very gradual build back to 185. Or at least I tell myself that right up until I hit 175 again every single time.

I am not like you, but I wish to be. :D

My current plan allows for 1580/day. Even running an average of 7 miles a day, I only eat between 1800-2000. When I do my long run on Sunday, I usually get up to about 2400, but the run is also 15 miles.

I think when I reach my goal, the app will give me about 2000/day before exercise. That will be really nice.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised once you hit your goal about how you will change your plan. You may not get the same burn that I do but once I hit my goal weight I slowly ramped up from 1800 calories to where I am now. I imagine my crone's "allows" me more calories than a normal person. I'm sure I don't absorb calories as efficiently as a typical person. That's probably why I lost weight so much faster than 1/2 pound a week at 1800 calories.

Minor uptick this week but I just got back from vacation eating theme park and fast food for two days. From a daily weigh-in standpoint I'm still up less than a pound overall so I'm counting it as a win.

We're leaving tomorrow to buy a house, and will stay in Pittsfield through Labor Day with the objective of interviewing contractors to complete some work before we move in. Gonna be eating a lot of restaurant meals. If we succeed in getting utilities before we relocate to the house on Friday, I'll lay in enough groceries to make a couple of simple meals at home, but since I'm only taking a few cooking implements with me that will be mostly reheating leftovers and getting takeout. The next week is going to be chaotic and probably high-calorie.

Weight continues to move up very slowly. My jogged step count in getting cumbersome, so I'll be re-calibrating my jogging to minutes beginning this week. revamping my goals up top to be more like my current mental goals

Have an event coming up in November, so I started eating better last week, and exercising more regularly. We'll see how it goes. Initial results are encouraging, but first pounds are always easiest.

I joined the gym, I think I did it mostly for the massage chairs and the wifi. lol I did find a couple machines I like that they only have one of each. Can't believe how uncomfortable their various bikes feel otherwise. One machine I like is for arm peddling, and the other is sort of alternate leg press cross country arm ski. Luckily I go when it's not too busy late at night. I burned enough calories for a slice of cheese, oh and Aldi has their 1000 day aged gouda back in stock. Yum

No change this week but considering I took a couple of weeks off of workouts I'm definitely OK with that. Back on the wagon this week with daily walks and rowing.

I fell back into some very negative habits and behaviours in the past couple months and relapsed into binge/emotional eating. (Gained back 17+ pounds over a seven-week period; went out to buy multiple snacks and treats every day, went back to ordering in fast food 2-3 times per week. Went from going for walks almost every day in May to 1-3 times a week.) I eliminated one destructive behaviour and just had nothing else to fill the hole. I've been too ashamed and depressed about it to post an update. But I'm ready to try again and am back on the wagon, so to speak.

I need to make the effort to make a concrete plan, but with everything else I'm trying to work on it's difficult to conjure the effort and find the time. I'm also in the position of having to try to help my wife find weight loss options and am responsible for planning/preparing our meals, so it's a heavy burden. But, I'm trying to remember that I'm still down 20 pounds overall since the beginning of the year and be motivated by how much worse I feel, and how poorly even my fat clothes fit now that I've bounced back to a higher weight. I wish I could afford a gym membership... at this point in my battle I think I'd actually be able to motivate myself to go. Mathematically it's so simple to lose weight, but emotionally and psychologically it's so fucking difficult.

Milestone birthday coming up (40), and I'm struggling with it more than I thought I would. I'm trying to use it as a bit of a reset but am aware that it's all just arbitrary, and putting too much emphasis on it could have a negative effect when I inevitably miss the mark sometimes.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

FWIW, my weight is down to 190 lb or so, from 290 lb a year ago. Most of it was not intentional, but from my prolonged undiagnosed gallbladder duct and pancreas problem, which eventually resulted in my hospital stay from end of July to mid-August and removal of my gallbladder. It's... good that I lost weight, but now I feel I can barely walk up a flight of stairs... *sigh* Felt as if I lost all of my muscles too. Need some exercise to get my strength back.

I feel ya'. I probably lost too much weight too quickly intentionally that resulted in muscle loss. That's why I'm trying real hard to accept slow weight gain and I try to get more and more exercise. Sorry yours is so extreme and hopefully you can use it as a launch pad.

I'm using a scifit step one recumbent stepper at the gym, nice machine for an overweight sloth like me. Very easy to use and get on or off. Comfortable while I'm on it, no fat rubbing together. The only problem is the gym has only one of them, so it better not get broken. Gym locker room is kinda scetchy, two dudes sleeping in there the other night. Luckily some lockers out in the main floor because I felt uncomfortable leaving my wallet locked in that out of sight position. Even bought a little RFID bag to keep it in. Always seemed to be people hanging out directly in front of my locker no matter where in the locker room I chose my locker. Scetchy

I've noticed that I habitually go into the kitchen looking for something to eat in the evenings, no matter how recently I've eaten, even if not hungry.

I am starting to suspect it's something I do to counter my tendency towards depression, with the food giving me little boosts of enjoyment. It feels like a magnetic pulling me to the kitchen, as force of habit if nothing else, and it has been the hardest part of getting my eating under control. I can eat more healthy, lower sugar, and reduce portion size without issue, but once 8pm rolls around, things get tough. I've actually started going to bed earlier to remove the temptation, it's that difficult to resist some nights.

I've begun to collect some low sugar, low calorie snacks that I can have that won't completely destroy any progress, but I'm still looking at better options.

My exercising is way up, but it's still incremental, to avoid injuries and to compensate for (very) weak muscles at the start. It's a little shocking how bad a shape I'm in. Still, progress!
