I have really fond memories of the Donahue Show as my mom watched it all the time when I was little. I didn't really understand it at the time, but I never complained when it was on.

Re: R.I.P. The thread of death....celebrity or otherwise
As an amateur astronomer, our groups get rather annoyed when mainstream public think of us as astrologers. In reality, while both deal with constellations in the night sky, that's pretty much where the similarities end. One is pretty much about making money via people and predictions, the other is about the science and research of what's in the cosmos. At some of our public outreach events, we've had people come up to us asking us to show them their sign, and we've often had to just play along and show the their constellation. But we're also sometimes able to give them a bit more mythological stories about them. That's another difference: I feel like we have a bit more background.

And all these constellations wouldn't even look like anything millions of years ago when we were on the other side of the galaxy spin'n around.

True, yet the basis between the two are linked to ancient cultures such as the Mayans, but diverged sometime ago. And the fun thing is, with astronomy, we can still look at records at what the sky must have looked like at certain points. It's fun to do with planetariums.

It's also a question about whether it happens at 76 or 58.
And also relevant is that a healthy person has more energy, a better mood, and tends to enjoy life more.

And some people are prone to falling when they get older. One of my grandmothers had it happen frequently over the course of her final years. They had to give her a bracelet that would detect falls and call 911.

I remember "tall people don't live as long because they have farther to fall." Seeing all my relatives in their 80s being hospitalized for falling I can sure see it now. It's at least one a season and right now it's my parents at least one a year.

Tall people are like overweight people in that their heart has to work harder to pump blood high and low. A tall friend of mine's father made it to 72 (he was taller than my friend), and my friend only made it to 58, but it was cancer that got him.

Re: R.I.P. The thread of death....celebrity or otherwise
Humans hearts are in a terrible spot. We're pumping the blood up half of the time (either up to our brains, or back up from the rest of us), while non-upright creatures mostly pump it horizontally. There is a feature of humans that helps pump the blood back where it belongs - our muscles. When we walk or run, our leg muscles are adapted to push the blood back up to take the strain off of our heart.
That's why sitting is so awful for you - you're turning off the extra pumps and making your heart do all the work.
It's also why tall people are more at risk.

I meant that she was comprised of eighteen nearly rectangular panels made from genuine leather, organized into six identical sections each consisting of three panels -- all carefully wrapped around a bladder - with a single valve.

Actually didn't know he was still alive. First time I remember really seeing him was Star Trek Deep Space Nine as Vic. Thats when I remembered him from his much earlier younger days as a singer and actor.RM2 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:40 pm James Darren gone

https://www.retronews.com/andrew-greenb ... ssed-away/
Andrew C. Greenberg, the co-creator of the influential Wizardry series of role-playing games (RPGs), has passed away at the age of 67. His death was reported on August 28, 2024. Greenberg, alongside Robert Woodhead, developed the Wizardry series, which played a significant role in shaping the RPG genre by codifying Dungeons & Dragons-style fantasy mechanics into a computer format. Actress Dame Maggie Smith, known for the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey, has died at the age of 89, her family has said.
A statement from her sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin said: "It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith.
