I chose the three resistance rings for my relics, which turns out is quite powerful when combined with the two prophecy rituals. My resistance right now is between 14 and 16 for deceit, prophecy, and destruction.

ONE HP away from liberating Pandemonium, ghostlobster. You should thank hepcat for giving you that Legion. It prevented me from attacking your Stronghold directly.

I know AWS was also interested in a new game at some point. I'm always game for one of course if there ends up space for one more :)

Have fun at GenCon Zarathud!

On a side note, I know a few of you played Dune:Imperium on Steam and I noticed it's on sale, what did you guys think of it?

Dune: Imperium itself is a great game. The Steam version overall is pretty good - the AI's not terrible and the interface is generally pretty solid. On multiplayer the game is pretty unforgiving in terms of demanding people take their turns ASAP, which is both good and bad - I think the game gives you maybe a minute if you're playing live, and IIRC if you miss your turn twice you get punted from the game and replaced with an AI. One significant issue we had playing an asyncronous game of it here is that the game abruptly punted one of the players and replaced them with an AI when they weren't even late to take their turn - presumably a bug, not sure how common that is.

That said, it's a lot of fun and happy to play an async game if you get it.

Also the IRL game has two expansions which add a lot to the game. I know that the Steam version was about to release one of them (Rise of Ix) any day now, if they haven't released it already.

I think I need to spend some time playing against the AI before my next match against fellow humans in SI. I was knocked out pretty early and never could get my momentum back. Something that probably wouldn't have happened if i was even slightly good. :?

I think you were putting yourself in a strong position at the end, Hepcat, with those destruction artifacts. My only suggestion is you should only get cantons you need to get to a place of power you want. The cantons themselves don't give any prestige. Much better to be gaining tribute and leveling powers.

But, yeah, you had a really unlucky start. Next time! :)

Yeah, one of the mistakes I made early on was thinking blank cantons actually got me some prestige. I must have misunderstood the tutorial when I played against the AI. Then I decided since I couldn't get a place of power, I was just going to control all the various avenues of ingress and egress for everyone by claiming pretty much everything. It was a wild attempt to achieve something that didn't really pay off.

You did block me from getting to Pandemonium, and your Legion was scary before it turned to the lobster side. But by turn 30+, rituals start to screw you over.

I ended up moving far too often that last game, but was pretty nicely positioned to grab territory and Prestige at the end. If only I could have had more turns for Vendettas.

I played a match against the AI just to see if I could win.

I'd be up for another game too. I'm fine waiting until folks are back from Gencon too.

I did find playing against the AI was good for experimenting with the different relics and such. It was interesting to see how quickly I could get to 4 or 5 orders by focusing on tribute, or how quickly you could rank up by focusing on prestige.

One thing I might consider proposing is a house rule of no taking Pando until after turn 50. An issue I've noticed in each game we've played is once someone gets an early lead, it's difficult to pull them back. This could be countered by allowing everyone the full 50 turns to level up and gather strength, and then either be in the running for an election victory, or go for Pando.

But it's just a suggestion, curious to what everyone else thinks.

Been playing this for a few weeks now. The tutorial does not do a good job of explaining everything. Finally found some You tube videos to help out, I have not won a game yet though.
Thought I won a game but apparently Lilith was manipulating me and I was her puppet.
And I thought I was playing the event cards when I was regent by selecting them but you have to go to your character page to play them...did not know that.
FYI: collecting tribute as your first action gains higher yields., and also, first action for each player is carried out before the 2nd action starts.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

So in this latest game, I waited for a few days for a new turn, then had to leave for a 4 day weekend to visit my father on his birthday. When I just logged in to see a new turn waiting, and that I had missed one (someone must have finally gone JUST after I left), I found that 2 of my 4 legions were just gone. No history of what happened to them. Just gone. That's...kind of shitty.

Oh well. Such is the lot of a minor demon, I suppose. Guess I'll just collect tribute and watch everyone else fight for the remainder of the game. There ain't no way in hell I'm gonna be a threat now.

That sucks on missing your turn, so sorry :( I knew I should have put the timer on a week instead of three days. As to what happened to your legions, I don't really remember. I think maybe someone played an event that killed one, maybe Capricious Wrath? I don't really remember. But sorry again about the timing. Sometimes when I am away I use GforceNow to do my turn, it's just a little annoying to use. Or Steamlink works too, but also can be annoying.

I don't believe so. But if the game included any kind of logging so you could check what happened, I could tell you for sure. I was just surprised to log in last night and see that my two plots I was just about to finish were now impossible due to having lost a major portion of my forces. If it was a legit maneuver by someone, that's fine though. I just wish I knew what happened. And being able to view past turn logs would give me just that.

Absolutely no fault of yours whatsoever. I was the lunkhead who missed his turn. Unfortunately, I was in the backwoods of Ohio where internet is just now being discovered.

That was probably me. I had vent walking, or whatever it's called, though. And unless a vent does 15 damage per turn, it shouldn't have killed off my main troop.

Pretty sure you do nothing in those situations. But if a player misses two+ turns in a row I think the game gives the other players a chance to boot the missing player.

I submitted my most recent turn this morning. I am traveling from now until Sunday evening. Is there any chance that someone could hold off on Submitting their turn until late Friday evening / Saturday morning, so that I can submit my next turn on Sunday evening?

I'll check to see how much time I have left as I haven't submitted since Tuesday night, I believe. If I can, I will hold off until Friday night. Although considering how badly I'm doing, it might actually be beneficial to me to let the computer do nothing on my behalf.
