Its like she tried to stay with Jimmy to the end. Wow what a love. Rest in peace first lady. I really think your's was the last good human presidency. God speed Rosalynn Carter

Re: Jimmy Carter Enters Hospice Care
I wonder how Jimmy is doing. He entered hospice a good while ago now and then lost his wife. Is he still thinking and rational or has he because invalid and unable to think or communicate? I worry that he is now simply being kept alive instead of being able to move on from paid and sadness.
We had an aunt that slowly lost all ability to talk and finally to move. She had Alzheimer's. She ended up in a bed in her daughters house and she took care of her 24/7 cleaning moving and feeding her through a stomach tube. The aunt was not there..at all. She was a living shell and yet they refused to let her die gracefully. If any of her was still there at all it was trapped in a living mummy of a body.

I sincerely hope he's doing as well as can be expected. His presidency wasn't the apex of his career, he most certainly is the most accomplished ex-president in my lifetime.

He's going to be gone soon, but I really hope he makes it through October and his 100th birthday.

I'd like to see him reach his 100th birthday too, but it seems like he is pretty unaware of outside things.

Fans of President Jimmy Carter say one of his lifetime goals is coming close to fruition. The 99-year-old, who has been in hospice care for more than a year, rallied during his vibrant post-presidential career to eradicate Guinea worm disease worldwide.
Over several decades, the former president, who turns 100 in two months, fought to end the disease that causes chronic pain and disabilities. The world has inched closer to vanquishing Guinea worm, a parasite that people and animals contract from contaminated water.

Suppose Carter passes away and has a state funeral in October, with all the praise and media appreciation that comes with it.
Odds that Trump will be able to hold his tongue and keep from shitting on Carter's memory?

I'm sure President Carter is holding on to life in order to reach 100, and to vote against you know who.Holman wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:40 pm Suppose Carter passes away and has a state funeral in October, with all the praise and media appreciation that comes with it.

I point that out every time someone celebrates a birthday. I stopped myself many years ago, but Betty was the most recent example as to how the leading cause of death by old age is too many birthdays.Daehawk wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2024 6:00 pm Zero or minus zero.

A concert and 30 new homes mark Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday and long legacy of giving
A benefit concert and the construction of 30 new homes are among the many events marking President Jimmy Carter ‘s 100th birthday on Oct. 1. Considering the former president’s long legacy as a philanthropist, it’s no surprise that he wants any gift-giving to go to other people.
The star-studded concert at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre earlier in September has raised $1.2 million so far to support the international programs of The Carter Center, which Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter founded in 1982 with the mission to “ wage peace, fight disease, and build hope.” The concert airs on Georgia Public Broadcasting on Oct. 1.
Meanwhile, thousands of Habitat for Humanity volunteers gathered Monday to build 30 homes in St. Paul, Minnesota, over five days, led by country music giants Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who worked alongside the Carters for years, beginning with projects in Hurricane Katrina’s disaster area.

To see us through what could potentially be yet another attempt at a coup by a narcissistic sociopath who would rather see the world burn than admit he isn't loved by everyone. Carter is goodness and goodness likes to know its work wasn't in vain.

That's your truth, not mine. Carter is probably my favorite of your bunch, although I am starting to like this RFK Jr. dude. He's a hoot.hepcat wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 8:47 pm
