Looks like folks are starting to get their copies of Maladum out in the wild, and I'm kind of dreading it. I don't know when I will be able to play it. I'm never going to get a campaign of it going, I have a regular D&D group and if I'm going to do a minis based campaign its going to be another Pulp Alley game.

I really do love their games and their terrain, but I just don't know where this will fit into my life.

Feeling pretty good today! Deep Shelf received an 8.5 and got a Seal of Excellence last week and now looking at a very successful reprint campaign!

That too. Since I got locked out of the Games Plus auction, I have zero room for anything new. I was hoping to get rid of about a third of my games, but wanted to use most of that freed up room for terrain storage.

That's why I was there bright and early on the drop off day Saturday. There was already a line of people at that point, so I was sure submissions were going to lock quickly. I learned my lesson the last time when they sent out an email about 4 days after submissions started that they were about to lock it up, and I had to scramble to get my stuff there in time.

In a few more months, it will have been out of print for 10 years. They really are ridiculous.
All you need to do is place an order for 106 extra copies, then cancel them once they're at the printer.

Maybe I'll check it out from the BGGCon library in November and read the rules in a high-traffic area and try to convince people to preorder it.

Sigh...yet another delay for backers of Cthulhu: Death May Die expansions. Meanwhile, it's all been available in retail here for months at this point. This is truly my last CMON kickstarter. I'm out.

Yeah, this is pretty bad. The only reason to back a CMON product at this point is to get the KS exclusive stuff. If all you want is a core box, it's pretty clear that it will be available (1) cheaper and (2) faster via retail channels.

Part of me really believes they're doing this intentionally to jam the re-sellers. Basically make sure the market is flooded with retail copies so the resale value for KS backers is lower. Yes, the KS exclusives are still going to be sold for a killing, but the core boxes won't sell at all.

And mine is showing up today.

My 'incoming' list is getting shorter and shorter. For most of the past decade it held steady at more than a dozen items, some arriving, some new ones being added. By the end of the month (more or less), I'll be down to two items on the list. If I hadn't broken down and backed Tales from the Red Dragon Inn, my list would have been empty by January.

It's been available for a while now. Just search Cthulhu Death May Die on miniaturemarket.com for example, and you'll find both the Fear of the Unknown expansion and Season 4.

p.s. also available on Amazon.

Miniature Market has it in stock? Not secret preorder? I fell for that trap with Arcs.

That is weird. I wonder if they picked up a load of these at GenCon or something?

But after they did the old switcheroo on Marvel Zombies shipping, I have really shied away from backing their stuff. Honestly, their games used to be amazing, now they just sort of regurgitate the same stuff with different veneer/themes. Play one CMON game, you have played them all.

In other news - I got a giant 32lbs box of Stalker: The Board Game stuff. No time yet to go through it.

I am guessing that unless CMON guaranteed some of the big vendors priority access to their goods, they were going to get dropped. So in exchange for making sure places like Miniature Market and Amazon get copies of the non-KS exclusives before KS backers (probably 30 days), they continue to have a business relationship with them. But with shipping still a nightmare, trying to coordinate that kind of tight window is probably impossible so they make sure the vendors are taken care of and then the backers get it when it's convenient.

I don't regret backing it because their Cthulhu game is pretty fun. But I'm over the extra KS doodads and if there's another big box in the series I think I'll just buy it from a retail source or perhaps even go without.

Lords of Vegas gets delivered Monday after that I have one game left on the list and I regret backing that already. A co-op legacy game (Flashpoint) I may never actually get to play based on how things have been going.

I actually painted most of my Core Space stuff, now I got all the Maladum stuff to paint since I picked up the KS version at my FLGS. I am not looking forward to assembling all that terrain though. I suck at that. Odds are I'll end up with even walls that don't look right...and those don't even require assembly.

It's a crumbling, ancient dungeon so leaning mismatched walls totally fit the vibe. I need to find good examples - I'm hoping many start to pop up - but I can already tell the minis are going to be a joy to paint, especially the heroes. They were definitely sculpted with care and thinking about paint.

As excited as I am to get this to the table, I do wish I could dedicate a giant table to just keep it all set up. With it being October, I'm also feeling motivated to play thematic spooky games like Camp Grizzly and Deth Wizards.

I can't help but shake the feeling the Cthulhu KS isn't going to be delivered to NA until after the New Year. Their last message:
The USA hub suffered a small delay and we're still in the process of booking the containers. We'll update you as soon as we have news.
Does not leave me confident this is showing up before January. If they didn't even book a container yet, that's still 6+ weeks from when they do that it arrives - which is peak trouble time.

Sigh...an hour later, my fingers are covered in superglue and I've managed to assemble 6 chests/crates. One of the sheets has badly cut notches that I couldn't even salvage with an exacto knife, so I had to force the damn things to fit eventually. It's not horrible looking, but it sure was friggin' annoying. Quality assurance seems to have lagged a bit at Battle Systems since Core Space. :x

I use wood glue or just white PVA glue (Elmer's) on the Core Space crates or anything that requires glue. Unlike CA, you can drink Elmer's if you get thirsty.

Do you use a sharpie marker to color the edges as well? Do not apply glue to the marker before using it. Trust me.

I'm hoping the QA isn't bad. I did see something (I think) about making sure you push the bits out from the correct side, though now I can't remember which side that was.

Yeah, CA (superglue) doesn't give a great deal of time to get pieces positioned. I use wood glue - it's the same as white glue, just with a higher PVA ratio.

I did use the CA glue that comes with a brush on Core Space pieces that have removable 'hooks', like signs, as it made them more rigid and almost plastic-like. I didn't use it for assembly - I brushed it on the edges that would be repeatedly attached/removed, then let them dry as a form of reinforcement. I'm not sure if Maladam has any pieces like that or not, as I don't want to start unpacking that huge stack until I've figured out a long-term storage solution.

That's a good idea. I'm sure there are hanger pieces, yes - torches, traps, bells, switches (I think).
