"Too much heat in the body can quickly lead to complications like heat exhaustion. This presents with symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, clammy skin, and nausea."

That's where your Gatorade/electrolyte replacement drinks come in. Those symptoms are the sign of low magnesium, potassium, and sodium. just drinking water alone helps flush out those minerals and that reduces the efficiency of neuroconductors in the brain. If it's bad enough, you lose cognitive function and you are unable to make decisions.

At which point you’re qualified to run for state office.

Even up here in Michigan when I did factory work in the late 80s, they had "salt tablets" next to the water fountain. When I was working up logistics in warehouses in Eagle Pass, TX in the last 90s, they had mandatory breaks around areas those packets. I'd hate to see plant floors down there. They only worked in 15 minutes shifts around that machines.

Salt tablets were a thing when I was a kid, before all these fancy electrolyte drinks came along.

If you're truly suffering from heat exhaustion, cool off quickly (a wet towel over the head is a good start), and instead of Gatorade or 'sports drinks', reach for the Pedialyte.

Liquid IV is at any pharmacy. Pedialyte isn't superior to any electrolyte replacement, it's recommended for people who don't know what electrolytes are.
When I was working, we used the brand "Squinchers" which were zero calory and worked damned well. Gatorade works damned well also, but the sugared variety packs on the pounds in a hurry, if you aren't careful.
Vitamin water is junk for non-gym circumstances, and chips are better than nothing, and work for mild cases of heat exhaustion.
The most important aspect is to pay attention to what your body is telling you. Plan for heat like you would plan for anything else. I only had one day in 34 years where I had to come off the street sick, and that was partially due to a fever I didn't know I had.

They create that deep down body thirst.
