I've always found it necessary to use tableware for deep dish, but now that I have a full lower denture, the texture of biting into a hand-held slice is rather unpleasant and sometimes painful. After a long day of moving and unpacking, last night we reacquainted ourselves with Dominoes, it being the closest and easiest takeout we could get. It was…adequate, comparable to a better-than-average frozen pizza. The nicest thing I can say is that it's cheaper than food -- a 14" pizza with three toppings was $15, including tip. I think of it as emergency backup pizza and hope to avoid such emergencies in the future.
In happier pizza news, my new grocery store carries frozen pizzas from the Cape Cod Cafe. I’ve written before about our hyperlocal South Shore Bar Pizza style and how I learned to make it at home; Cape Cod Cafe (which isn't actually on the Cape, btw) invented it and is now exporting it beyond the South Shore. I haven’t tried it yet but I expect it to outshine Dominoes. If it meets expectations there will always be one in my freezer.

I moved to Lincoln Square/Budlong Woods (north of the downtown). There are, and I kid you not, 3 Kyrgyz, 2 Serbian, 4 Mexican, 2 Ecuadorian, 1 Guatemalan, 2 Columbian, 2 Thai, 3 Middle Eastern and a smattering of others within a 30 minute walk from my apartment. I just don't like Kyrgyz food that much, I guess. I've tried both Jibek Jolu and another less upscale one that's further away. While Jibek was notably better, I still wouldn't repeat it unless I was asked to by a friend. It just seems bland to me. Admittedly, I've only tried about 3 or 4 dishes though (shared with a friend twice). One was a beef cube dish that is supposedly a national favorite, the other were pot stickers and some noodle dish.
What Greek bakery are you talking about? I've found the Colombian one that makes fantastic empinadas, but I haven't found a Greek bakery yet.
The other day I was out for a walk and came across two more places I hadn't previously seen yet. I love this area.
We should meet up for lunch or dinner sometime if your office is nearby...and drinks, of course. Zarathud and Seppe are up this way too.

Okay, on topic question time: What the good goddamn hell is going on with the sudden proliferation of "mike's hot honey pizza" (or just "hot honey pizza" if they don't wanna pay Mike, I guess) now being offered at every pizza place in America? I was trying to order a lou malnati's pie a little while ago and had to manually add toppings because it kept telling me I was getting a mike's hot honey pizza. Then I looked online and realized this is all over the place now.

They sell Mike’s Hot Honey sauce at a local grocery store. I didn’t realize it’s actually a retail sauce you can buy. I thought it was a pizza place that was marketing and selling it. I think I’ll pick some up this week and try it on a few things. Apparently you can put it on EVERYTHING.
