I managed to slip in a day right after that called Sunderday. Of course, everyone just thinks I'm taking Monday off. But I know what I'm doing.

Re: Political Randomness
The NRA getting community-noted on proper gun safety is just :chef's kiss:
NRA: Tim Walz previously claimed he kept a shotgun in his car so he could hunt pheasants after football practice. This is Tim Walz attempting to load his shotgun this past weekend.
Community Note: He is attempting to unload the tube without cycling the action. Safely.

Re: Political Randomness
I know nothing of shotguns. Is that community note indicating Walz was practicing gun safety and wasn't actually being incompetent while loading?

Re: Political Randomness
Yes.
From what I can tell (and I’m not a gun guy either), the NRA was posting it as a “gotcha” that Walz didn’t actually know to handle a shotgun when, in fact, he was doing exactly what he should have been doing to handle it safely.

Re: Political Randomness
Unloading a pump shotgun correctly is a pain. Most people take the lazy option and just pump it repeatedly, chucking all of the shells out. The lazy option works, but it jams each shell into the chamber and is less safe.
The NRA poster is so used to people doing it incorrectly that they didn't even recognize that he was doing it properly.

That's one possibility, I suppose. Though, personally, I think you are being very charitable in your assessment.

I'm not being charitable. The poster is so caught up in their witch hunt that they are showing incompetence in the one thing that they're supposed to be authorities on.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't watch the video and wouldn't have understood it if I had.
I'm glad to hear he is doing things well and properly. It's very easy to cut corners and choose the easy way, so it takes discipline to avoid that.

I watched the video, but not with sound. Was this explicitly called out? My take matched your more recent comment... "so caught up in their witch hunt". I don't think the poster gave any thought to anything else. Hence the "charitable" comment. Your initial comment definitely provides an innocent motivation. What you subsequently posted is more in line with my opinion.so used to people doing it incorrectly that they didn't even recognize

Only if you include an epilogue and scenes from the next season. Hoping you'll be renewed since you're not on Netflix.

Europe has had plenty of time to get their shit together. The U.S. should be a better ally, but they should be able to stand together on their own if needed.

They should, but OTOH I'm not sure they should have had to prepare for the U.S. not only abandoning our security guarantees but potentially becoming a threat alongside Russia.

I'm not sure that they meant that they need to get ready for us not to hold them up so much as that they need to stop considering us as a reliable partner. We may not hold up our end.

Given the amount of arms and related services we sell them, I think we have always wanted them to rely in US to a significant degree. It has been a symbiotic dependency.

Yes. The US has always been very happy to keep European forces in the position of auxiliary. It gives us outsized influence not just militarily or diplomatically but also economically.LawBeefaroni wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 9:40 amGiven the amount of arms and related services we sell them, I think we have always wanted them to rely in US to a significant degree. Yeah, the appropriate read is that the NRA doesn't give a crap about gun safety, but prioritizes attacking Dems (for profit, and luxury trip grift)Blackhawk wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 11:54 am Unloading a pump shotgun correctly is a pain. Early voted today so now to sit back and wait for the shit show that election day and weeks after will bring.
Our county has moved to new voting machines where your given a long strip of paper, insert it into the machine and make your choices. It then prints it out and then you scan it in to the collection machine.
Lady ahead of me refusing to use it since she read on the internet where the system will change your vote. I'm sure only if your vote is Trump.

Re: Political Randomness
Today I visited my aunt (my father's sister) and one of the only two members of that generation remaining in my family. I learned the following:
1. Vaccines are intended by the Democrats to solve the nation's problems by killing off 50% of the population (didn't I see that in a movie?)
2. Before the end of the year, a coalition, championed by Trump, will arrest all of the pedophiles, illegals, criminals, and bankers. They will be executed, and all of their money and resources will be used to pay off all standing debt for all remaining Americans. This was made necessary because we turned control of the Federal Reserve over to England.
3. Google will tell you that the above are hoaxes. Google is incorrect.
There is a reason that I haven't stayed in contact with my family.

Also isn't it readily apparent that 50% of people taking vaccines haven't died? Also aren't people taking vaccines at this point slightly more likely to be democrats?
I'm just asking questions.

Re: Political Randomness
I am relieved that my dad has hated Trump since the Art of the Deal, and my mother’s father used to tease him with gag Trump branded gifts (as a comedy roast fan). Even my unemployed stoner brother who falls for QANON recognizes Trump is a clown. Mom dropped out after Nixon but is finally mad enough to actually show up to vote against Republicans again.
It’s my mother’s brothers who repost the stupid conservative memes while enjoying their (railroad) union pensions. And my dad’s large family has some Opus Dei resurgent Catholics who are all anti-woke. Nice people except for their extreme religious beliefs. But they’re mostly from rural Illinois/Wisconsin communities who never saw minorities until Clinton.
