I get that they need to recover some costs for the adaptation, but I'm struggling with paying $50 USD for a 14 year old game that you can get for $10 on Xbox.

Yeah, a port of this nature should be in the $30-$40 range, especially given the age of the title. Even if it's the first time it appears on PC, there's no excuse for it to be this expensive.

But which should I play first, RDR or RDR2? Should I play them in order of release or in order of the time line?

I'm thinking I should play RDR first, mainly because after playing RDR2, RDR would probably be a step down in gameplay, which might be frustrating or disappointing.

The correct answer is to play RDR, then RD2, then right back to RDR.

Sure, but I feel what the market can bear is so subjective depending on the markets in question. Like, it's one thing for it to be $50 USD, but far less bearable at $70CND + perceived value.

In other words, they charged what will end up being the 'correct' price, and the perceived value of releases like this will be high in the future.

Not the fair price, not the expected price, but (from the perspective of them doing their job), the correct price.

Luckily, unlike the Call of Duty model, Rockstar does tend to have sales. Eventually.

by no means was i countering this was a solution, but since you brought it up - Xenia (the primary Xbox 360 emulator on computer) has made great strides over the past years and the Xbox 360 version is around $7-15 on ebay.
