Does it *have* to be Wireless? I'm still using my Logitech G500s. The only thing that broke was that dumb rubber band on the scroll wheel (doesn't affect functionality)

I've been using the Logitech G502 Hero for the last 5 years with no issues and love it. It's $45 on Amazon - not sure if that is mid-priced.

Sure, fitty bucks is mid-priced. I spent over $100 on my work mouse and the one I'm wearing out now came free with something else, so 50 is smack in the middle.

Kinda prefer wireless, though. I should probably wait until we move so I can evaluate my new environment. I'm leaving my old computer desk behind and will use a standard desk + printer stand instead. IDK if a corded mouse will be practical. Cord mice don't need batteries, amiright?

A modern mid-priced wireless mouse mouse just needs to sit on the charger once a week.

I finally revoked my recommendation for the Logitech G Pro Wireless earlier this year, and switched to a BenQ, which I love, but it's definitely not mid-range.

I will say that I no longer recommend Logitech, and I've actively anti-recommended Razer for years. Steelseries has good hardware, but their software is abysmal.

What are you looking for beyond wireless? Ergonomic? Lefty? Large/small hands? Extra buttons? Classy/no RGB? Tasteful lighting? Times Square on NYE? Extra light/heavy?

Honestly, given that you want mind-range, I'd suggest looking at a Logitech in the $30-$60 range. Most of cost of the more expensive stuff is precision sensors and wireless speed, which you don't need (a fast connection between the receiver and the mouse was what made wireless a poor choice for fast gaming until fairly recently.) Given that, you are probably just fine with Logitech, as you're not investing as much if it goes badly.

Just a simple, durable, comfortable mouse, preferably rechargeable. I won't use extra buttons and don't care about lights, although I wouldn't consider those to be negatives.

My work mouse is a Logitech MX Master 3 that I chose because it's very precise (I do a little bit of photo editing that requires exact control), rechargeable, and comfortable in my arthritic old hand (so I guess ergonomic is on my list). It has a bunch of programmable extra buttons that I don't need or know how to use, but they don't get in the way and are easily ignored. Lately its rubber skin has begun to separate from the body after just a couple of years of use, so I'm less than impressed with its durability.

I had a BenQ monitor for a while, but yeah - they went quiet. I was surprised earlier this year when I started researching top gaming mouse options and found them at the top of most of the recommended lists (and in use by a huge number of professionals.)

from a previous job contract i got a Microsoft Sculpt keyboard and ergo mouse (they came together as a package). i really didn't need the mouse since i had the trackball, but i've now set it up on my WFH desk (with the Sculpt keyboard - they pair together on the same wireless dongle) and i don't mind it. still don't like it as much as my HP Omen/SteelSeries 300, which is longer.

I switched to this mid price Mouse after my 2 Logitechs before crapped out after about a year each.
Razer Basilisk. Been working perfectly for 3 years now.

Thanks, I've bookmarked the last three mouses that were recommended. I decided not to buy one until I set up my new desk after we move so that I can decide whether going wired is a real option. ("New" desk is just an ordinary old desk without a keyboard tray or cable holes; I'll put my PC under the printer stand next to it.)

In the course of unpacking boxes I found a Logitech Control Plus M510 new in package. Wife's employer sent her two the last time she asked for a replacement and she'd forgotten about the second one. So my mouse choice was ultimately very easy. I've been using it for a couple of hours and it's pleasingly average and ordinary.

Just had another razer mouse conk out on me. It still works but the wirelessness is gone, so it needs a cord now. It's likely a loose/disconnected wire, but I'm tired of tinkering with my mice. It's very light (which was awesome) but now it's too light, as the cord is stiff and I can feel it fight me on every move of the mouse.

I've avoided Razer keyboards and mostly gone with Corsair, and now I'll be avoiding Razer mice too. Time to buy something new and more reliable. I'll review the thread and see what people have to say.

edit: Oh. I see Lassr has switched from Logitech to Razer. Lol. I was thinking of doing the reverse. I will say the Razer mice I've had were really excellent, but not built to last. And they were not cheap inexpensive. It's debatable whether they were cheap or not.

I praised Logitech (and damned Razer) for years, but I had two newish mice give out on me in a row, and Logitech support was absolutely (and actively) useless. Before that it was Corsair. Their support was fantastic, but I still had more problems with their mice than I felt was reasonable.

I've switched to BenQ now (as I mentioned above, a BenQ ZOWIE EC2-CW), and the mouse has been fantastic. Light, wireless, and no bloated software just to make it function. I've had it less than a year, but I'm very happy with the choice so far.
