This game makes me want to play it. i see it on YT and in streams a lot now for some reason. Seems when one person does something the rest follow...even if its KISS in their disco era. :)

I only own the normal game though. Tried it twice but stopped after first mission each time.

It's funny when people freely talk about the spoilers they are most happy they avoided.

To be fair, the person you quoted was simply replying to a post that spoiled the thing he was glad wasn't spoiled for him.

I was having some misgivings posting after the fact but I was just so moved by the most accurate depiction of a steel band in a video game ever!

I've been playing for a few weeks - it finally clicked this time. I just started the intro mission for Escape from New York Phantom Liberty.
Spoiler:
Apparently I'm supposed to talk to someone at a certain gate to get denied entry, after which I can approach the objective. I went the wrong way, and they started trying to murderize me.

Oopsy.

Minor annoyance: Why is it that every time me and whoever go into hiding in an abandoned building, the first thing I'm required to do is turn on the lights?

I've had the exact same thought. You are being hunted by a large group of soldiers, you hole up in an abandoned building where the walls are mostly open to the night, and you set up a beacon for everyone to find you.

Way late to the party, but it is on sale for $29.99. Been playing BG3 for about the last 4 years. Need something to tide me over for the next 4. Hope this lives up to the hype.

It's one of the best games I've ever played. I think I finished complete plays of the OG game twice, and did a third run through the entire game plus DLC. And then another one to see an alternate outcome to the DLC story line.

D'oh. I completely forgot that BG3 was an early access game (and I did buy it right at the start of EA, too, on 6 Oct 2020 according to Steam).

I was going to say something similar to this, but to actually see the date kinda puts things in perspective. Had no idea it really HAS been 4 years!!

I'm very close to the end. My next main mission is the 'point of no return' for the main story, and I'm one mission away from the Big Decision in Phantom Liberty. I do appreciate the freedom to choose what to finish and what to ignore (NCPD dispatches, etc) and be able to simply finish when I'm ready.

And I'm nearly ready. I'm loving the game, but it's been front-and-center for months, and I've got a few others that I really want to give some time to.

I have gotten past the tutorial and into the first main mission. I am going with a stealth build on normal, mostly because I suck at combat. Met my first major decision, but research says it really has no future impact either way. Now I want to jump off the rail and start doing side missions before progressing.

Stealth, I have found, is so, so powerful. I also like that they didn't implement it with a straight stealth tree, but with just a couple of skills that build off on another stat.

I was able to get a legendary weapon:
Spoiler:
Errata, the katana that burns. You can pick it up from the furnace during the Disasterpiece mission. I followed a guide to a box that was supposed to have the Mantis Blades. I found the box, but apparently the blades were patched out.
Now I am relatively fearless.

And I just got:
Spoiler:
Sasquatch's Hammer, by sneaking behind her and snatching it.

If you're interested in making sure you don't miss legendaries, my son pointed me to this guide. It's as spoiler-free as it can be, and simply tells you which items are available in which missions.

I have reached the spot where it says: POINT OF NO RETURN.

Of course I backed off to do other things but it appears I am nearing the end. Some people say the real game starts with the DLC. I will probably take a break before going that route.

Well, I'm done. It took me long enough - I'm pretty sure this was a preorder for me, and I had multiple false starts that never got further than the prologue. This time though, everything clicked. It is probably one of the best RPGs I've played in many years.

I went with a female corpo V (tip: if you want corpo, go male - the voice is a much better fit, as female V sounds street regardless), focused on pistols, sniper rifles, and some katanas for combat, with a strong focus in stealth and maxed out cyberware. Quickhacks were there as well, but they were more of a secondary support function than anything. My Phantom Liberty relic was maxed out. Even with the difficulty cranked up to max it was easy by the end (save for the final boss - he was kind of a pain, and took four tries.) Judy was my chosen amor. By the end, I had 144 hours on this save (which is actual playtime - it doesn't record paused time.) I completed a bunch of the NCPD hussles, many jobs and gigs, and all but one sidequest (I deliberately chose not to finish that one.)

My ending for Phantom Liberty:
Spoiler:
I backed Reed, let Songbird die, and thoroughly pissed off the President. My plan was to back So Mi, but she was just too far gone by the end, and her plans were too far over the line for me to go along with. I'm satisfied with the results of my choices.

My ending for the main story:
Spoiler:
I stayed in the driver's seat for the end. I rolled in with the Avocados, then chose to let Johnny take my body. I was conflicted there - live for six months, or go into an unknown future and let Johnny live a full, normal life. But I played through all of the quests for Johnny and the rest of his former crew, and I had come to believe that he was a different person than when he first got flatlined. The post-mission mission showed that I was right. He was changed, and again - I'm satisfied with the ending.

Now, I've played games where the main character died before, but this is the first time that I performed my own memorial and watched myself deal with the impact of my 'death.' It was strange, but impactful. Again, not a 'happy' ending, but an appropriately Cyberpunk ending. Some people lived, nobody was entirely happy, but the bad guys got what was coming to them, save for one. Sorry, Takemura. I know Saburo deserved justice, but the price was a little too high.

So, Rest in Peace, V. Maybe.

But damn, Johnny, couldn't you at least have sent Judy a message so she won't be sitting there wondering?
