I don't want it to be even worse, I really don't. But if it's going to be worse I don't want it to be just a little worse, I want it to be a lot worse. You joke but I try to see the bright side and the what if's I'm wrong. But then I fail, as I see who the people who voted are around me and I see what they are and I see what they are becoming and I see what they actually desire to be and I see what is happening to civil service as well as civil society and I just can't get there. The who we are always brings me down. Maybe if I could move to an area that bettered valued or, at the very least, gave a legitimate attempt to understand the basics of civics then I could more easily turn a blind eye.

All we need to know is that if the report was benign or beneficial, it would have been released by the committee already. That it took them this long to potentially publish an actionable item, is also telling.

I get your situation as well. God knows I will personally know someone who will be affected and/or will be affected personally. It's just that in this timeline I'm reminded of a quote from Watchmen, "And all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us" and I'll whisper 'no' ". And the rest of my rant followed from there. If there was some guardian spirit entity who's been watching over the country since its founding, I can only imagine it shaking its head and going "WTF guys, I can't even."
I mean fuck, at this point all I want is for just one R with a spine to try and stop the dipshittery and give me some hope again. But so far they're all complicit. Every single last one of them.

I think the Nuremburg Trials established that "I was only following orders" is not a valid defense in most cases.
I would be willing to bet that some staffer (perhaps for an outgoing Representative) has leaked the report already, but our intrepid newshounds are struggling with the desire not to piss off Dear Leader.
At which point it will be claimed that it isn't the actual report, and the only way to contradict that would be for one of the people involved to publicly state so.
