For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health.
The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country.
That sounds a lot like regulations.
It is interesting because RFK Jr's desired policies conflict a lot with the Project 2025. And as bad as he is, a believer in the Project 2025 would be worse, IMO. edited for

Did you perhaps mean Project 2025 rather than the Lincoln Project?

Re my thoughts on @RobertKennedyJr, Science must remain THE cornerstone of our nation’s health policy and the science-backed decision to get vaccinated improves public health and safety. But if as a country we follow the science we would also be far more concerned about the impact of pesticides on public health, ag policy on nutrition, and the lack of access to prescription drugs due to drug high prices. This is why I am for a major shake-up in institutions like the FDA that have been barriers to lowering drug costs and promoting healthy food choices. Lest there by any doubt, I am vaccinated as is my family. I will hold any HHS Secretary to the same high standard of protecting and improving public health.
I must have missed the part where the FDA was responsible for the federal law that prohibits HHS from negotiating drug prices, the Medicare Part D noninterference clause.
So someone who objects to the safety of drugs objects to the cost of making sure those drugs are safe? Who is nominated for that position by a party that prevents the government from negotiating to lower drug prices?
You’d need your brain scrambled by worms for that to make any sense. Oh, wait….

The same part of me that hopes the economy will nosedive before the midterms also wants these appointees to run wild.
You mean like it always does under a Republican President? Or do you mean you want it to be even worse?

I don't want it to be even worse, I really don't. But if it's going to be worse I don't want it to be just a little worse, I want it to be a lot worse. I want it to be so bad that not even Fox News can cover up the badness with a coat of lipstick. I want it to be so bad that even Fox News says it's freeking bad and maybe even for some of the Fox News people to be personally affected. That's how bad I want it.
I mean what if we're wrong and they're right? What if we're letting Gaetz's senator's-son background and pedophile predilections cloud our judgement and maybe he's a great legal mind (I mean not only did he get out of that DUI, he got the arresting officer run out of town!)? What if RFK's rapey and cruel Kennedy-stereotypical past isn't the sum of who he is today? Is it possible that his vaccine "skepticism" and distrust of Big Food could lead to safer vaccines and food additives? What if Musk's ridiculous rocket scientist cosplay just obscures his brilliant economic acumen? Maybe there is a hidden $2T in wasteful spending that he will expose and eliminate with Congress's blessing.
What if Trump, for all his awfulness, is just the man we need to end Pax Americana and get us back to the isolationist, capitalist, semi-superpower nation we really want to be?

You joke but I try to see the bright side and the what if's I'm wrong. But then I fail, as I see who the people who voted are around me and I see what they are and I see what they are becoming and I see what they actually desire to be and I see what is happening to civil service as well as civil society and I just can't get there. The who we are always brings me down. Maybe if I could move to an area that bettered valued or, at the very least, gave a legitimate attempt to understand the basics of civics then I could more easily turn a blind eye.
This is the worst timeline, not Bizzaro world. Gravity still works and Trump is a terrible businessman whose fraud is surrounded by opportunistic morons.

I try and take some solace that it's ~50% 'who we are'.

It's a little like wanting the boat you're on to be sunk, because you fear the captain will sink it.
It's treating the body politic as an actual "body". The first time the body decided not to wear a mask and got Trumpid. Only it didn't get too sick and got a little better before getting re-infected with Trumpid. If the body doesn't get too sick it won't learn its lesson and figure out "Hey, maybe Trumpid is not good for me, I should stay away from it", and would get sick again when a Trumpid variant comes along.
People talk about wanting the economy and the social structure that MAGA voters rely on to collapse to teach them a lesson.
I'm one of the people that stands to lose my ability to pay rent and buy food, who stands to have their remaining medical coverage weakened to eliminated, who could potentially even face homelessness. I have immediate family that could be hit, hard, by the anti-trans wave that's coming. I have trouble wishing doom on the many to maybe teach the few a lesson (but probably just see them rationalizing it around to blame someone else.)
At the same time, I get it. They want to burn it all down; I want to see them trying to live in the rubble.
If I knew for certain that it would bring about an end to this crap going forward, I'd probably even choose to live in the rubble with them to make it happen. But so far, it's just been anger and a desire for revenge that's driving said narrative.
Mike Johnson met with Trump last night. This morning he's officially saying that releasing the report is against procedure, and that it shouldn't be done. The chair of the committee has said he will not release it. The meeting to vote on its release was canceled.
Unless someone leaks it, I don't think we'll see it.
In what world does a congressional committee not get to see the results of another committee's investigation while considering someone for the highest law enforcement position in the country? Oh wait...

Aren't there Democrats on the ethics committee? You would think one of them would have access to the report?

So they can hunt down and expel the person(s) that leaked it? C'mon now.
All we need to know is that if the report was benign or beneficial, it would have been released by the committee already. That it took them this long to potentially publish an actionable item, is also telling.

I get your situation as well. God knows I will personally know someone who will be affected and/or will be affected personally. It's just that in this timeline I'm reminded of a quote from Watchmen, "And all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us" and I'll whisper 'no' ". And the rest of my rant followed from there. If there was some guardian spirit entity who's been watching over the country since its founding, I can only imagine it shaking its head and going "WTF guys, I can't even."
I mean fuck, at this point all I want is for just one R with a spine to try and stop the dipshittery and give me some hope again. But so far they're all complicit. Every single last one of them.

I think the Nuremburg Trials established that "I was only following orders" is not a valid defense in most cases.
I would be willing to bet that some staffer (perhaps for an outgoing Representative) has leaked the report already, but our intrepid newshounds are struggling with the desire not to piss off Dear Leader.
At which point it will be claimed that it isn't the actual report, and the only way to contradict that would be for one of the people involved to publicly state so.

I sincerely doubt that. If they had it, it would be everywhere.

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who has a number of friends in the Senate GOP conference, told Bloomberg Television that Gaetz won’t secure the 50 votes he needs to become attorney general.
“Look, Gaetz won’t get confirmed,” he told the outlet. “Everybody knows that.”
Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) told The Hill that McCarthy’s dire prediction is probably spot on.
“I think he’s pretty right, actually,” he said.
