I don't feel like being here all day although I wouldn't mind seeing Gin Blossoms. Jane's Addiction was going to be there but...the fight happened.
I got Sat tickets only, wife wants to see TLC and me....Gwen Stefani.

I saw them open for Living Colour decades ago and was not impressed, but I didn't like them to begin with. In a brush with rock 'n' roll fame, though, we were right up next to the stage and my friend put his zippo on one of the monitors. The bassist from Candlebox grabbed it and used it light his cigarette. (In a better brush with rock 'n' roll fame, later that night Vernon Reid was thrown into the crowd upon us by his band mates and we helped keep him aloft and move him back to the stage.)Skinypupy wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 11:26 pmIf you happen to catch Candlebox, let me know how they are.Lassr wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:00 pm Saturday Night will be seeing TLC & Gwen Stefani.

They’re still the worst band I’ve ever seen live, and the only band I’ve ever actually seen get booed off the stage.
I may not see them, but my daughter has tickets for both days and will be there. I'll ask her how they were.Skinypupy wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 11:26 pm

Nice lineup. Who were the unknowns? Wonder if it's any I know.disarm wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 11:39 am Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, CT yesterday... skipped the early afternoon unknowns but got there in time to see Norah Jones, Teddy Swims, Bleachers, Greta van Fleet and Jack White. The Imagine Dragons show with the kids was last night. I thought it was just ok (I could swear they played the same song like 4 times), but seeing the reaction from the kids was worth every penny.Skinypupy wrote: Thu Aug 15, 2024 2:47 pm
So...I just purchased 5 tickets to Imagine Dragons in October so the kids (and Mrs. Skinypupy) could attend their first concert.I personally find them to be annoying radio pop, but the Wonder Twins 11.3 absolutely LOVE them and can sing along to every word. We haven't told them yet, but they're going to freak out. I'm debating whether to let them know now, or just hop in the car the day of and show up at the venue.
Just be aware that Sam Llanas, the singer with the distinctive voice, is no longer in the band. Hasnt been for quite a while.Jeff V wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 9:45 pm Among other acts coming to that venue soon are The Bodeans, I saw them open for Elvis Costello years ago. I'll have to play my wife a few of their hits to see if maybe she's interested in them.
Iron Maiden is the first album I ever bought, at a garage sale in the mid-80s.hitbyambulance wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:54 pm went to see Iron Maiden last night (*for the first time*) - Bruce told everyone that Covid was over! i was glad to hear that.
tbh i was more interested in seeing them than Maiden. i'd only heard _The Gereg_ some years ago, but thanks for reminding me i need to check out the newest album. a full 45 minute set (i was dreading it would be only a half hour or less) and they were well-rehearsed and put on a fine set. many of their tracks played live have a sort of 'generic international metal' feel to them outside of the indigenous instruments, but this is kinda common with a lot of the folk metal acts - however, "Yuve Yuve Yu" sounded amazing.AWS260 wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:18 pm
How was The Hu? I've watched a few of their songs on YouTube and really enjoyed them.
Ah, ok, thanks. I showed her videos for Off Broadway, including from a show at the Arcada a few months before we saw them in Aurora. She commented that Cliff Johnson looked like one of her residents (she works at a nursing home) and when we saw them the singer was definitely not Cliff Johnson. Upon further investigation, Johnson died shortly after that concert in St. Charles. He could very well have been one of her residents.stimpy wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 11:40 amJust be aware that Sam Llanas, the singer with the distinctive voice, is no longer in the band. Deal breaker for me.
saw them last year in Seattle, easily one of the top three shows i saw in 2023. going to buy the new album tomorrow at the local record store - 2xCD + BD Deluxe Edition with Dolby Atmos mix: https://www.silverplatters.com/p/315455 ... -ray-audioKurth wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 12:29 am Not sure this counts, but right now I’m watching The Cure in concert at the Troxie in London and live-streamed to my house.
They look old as dirt but sound amazing.
They released their new album today. It’s amazing. Takes me right back to Disintegration.
They lead off playing the new album in its entirety. Then an intermission and they come back with Plainsong, and it’s off to the races through their hits for another 2 hours.
Really bummed I didn’t catch that show in Seattle. Never seen them live, and they’ve been one of my all-time favorites since middle school.hitbyambulance wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 12:46 amsaw them last year in Seattle, easily one of the top three shows i saw in 2023. going to buy the new album tomorrow at the local record store - 2xCD + BD Deluxe Edition with Dolby Atmos mix: https://www.silverplatters.com/p/315455 ... -ray-audioKurth wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 12:29 am Not sure this counts, but right now I’m watching The Cure in concert at the Troxie in London and live-streamed to my house.

Thought of you Skinypupy when i saw Myrkur was doing backing vocals.Skinypupy wrote:Wasn’t planning on any shows in November, but after last week I really need a metal show to clear my head. So we grabbed tickets to King Diamond and Overkill on Saturday.
While I’m not overly familiar with his music, I saw Diamond with Mercyful Fate at Psycho Fest (RIP) a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Tickets for this one were a little more expensive that I’m usually willing to pay ($60) so I’m hoping it doesn’t end up in the other concert thread.
Yeah, her being there was a big reason why I was willing to pay the extra $$. I absolutely adore Myrkur.Xmann wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 12:54 pm Thought of you Skinypupy when i saw Myrkur was doing backing vocals.
I could have sworn I saw Overkill on one of the cruises, but their not on my "Bands Seen" spreadsheet so I guess not. Will get to add three new bands after tomorrow...yay!And Overkill was great as well.
